Just reminding that there's a Codex MP game being setup and we need 1-2 more people more ideally.

Would love to play, but don't have the time for now, maybe in a few weeks if there is another one

I would but I respect my time too much. Even if it was feasible to get much done the game sucks.

I'd love to, but I am currently way to busy and will be in Stockholm over the weekend. Where are you planning this?

I've been rolling over everyone with ships loaded with nothing but lasers so I'm not really buying that you have to mix up your fleet to be effective. I just scrap the old models when I research a bigger ship type and pump those as the ships seem to get exponentially better while making the smaller models obsolete. Just make sure you have deflectors, armor and regenerative hulls and you can eat up any kind of damage no problem.

You really don't need to mix up weapons because the AI is already basically random and therefore generally has no weaknesses or strength. Missiles are definitely the best weapon though. At least I've never seen an AI deploy much point defense and 100% accuracy is a huge advantage over those shitty non-homing weapons.

Corvettes eventually get stupidly high evasion though.

Corvettes are the most OP ships. Large ships can't hit them and they are cheaper and use less ship cap and their damage is still effective.

So bros I have a question about negotiations. When some race attacks me, and I'm winning the war. I'm occupying their planets how can I as a defender take those planets. When I open the negotiations tab I only have options like status quo, unconditional surrender etc. But I can't ask for all those planets/system I conquered. What gives.

Carriers were a big disappointment for sure
Also, it may not be efficient at all, but some of the weapons are fun, I used for a while a crystal thrower and it wasn't so bad for the early game

When you get declared on you can select war goals.

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Shadorwun: Hong Kong
I played Stellaris for about 15 hours. It has a great start, some cool ideas like studying pre FTL civilizations, uplifting them etc. The space monsters are also a cool feature. However, once you reach mid game there's little to do. The factions are non-existent, the empire policies are of little use (you forget about them), there's no change in the type of government, no events regarding your internal politics etc All you can do is conquer a bunch of weird, cartoon like aliens. The game needs a massive expansion in features and a lot of improvement from moders. I think I'll have to wait a year minimum for some cool total conversion mods.

God dammit. It's so fucking hard to clear a planet when you can't purge shit. Had to colonize two new planets to offload roaches on and then release so I can get my 25 tile desert world...

Corvettes are the most OP ships. Large ships can't hit them

I'm pretty sure it's the weapon slot that decides what can be hit. And destroyers and cruisers have way more (S) weapon slots than corvettes, if you pick the right modules.

Meaning, my anti-corvette destroyers will mop the floor with x2 their number in corvettes, with no serious issue. And corvette swarms tend to lose effectiveness pretty quickly, because they're so individually easy to knock out. Destroyers/cruisers have way more staying power.

Nonetheless, the fact that each ship size still has a role to play even in the late game is a boon, not a problem.

Missiles are definitely the best weapon though. At least I've never seen an AI deploy much point defense and 100% accuracy is a huge advantage over those shitty non-homing weapons.

AI does employ PDS, depending on availability. The tech itself often doesn't become available until you fight missile equipped opponents, though.

Considering that destroyers cost more than 2x vettes and take up exactly 2x fleet cap and you are using specifically anti vette destroyers, that's hardly surprising.

The 'most OP ships' shouldn't have an easy hard-counter.

What, they're overpowered because they take out destroyers/cruisers built for big-ship combat fairly easily?

This game needs a buyout option to spend excess minerals and space cash. Once you hit cap with these resources you practically never run out of them.

Energy can be tight from when your fleets are in orbit versus when they're fighting.

But yeah.

Also - fucking military fortresses are ridiculously OP. 4k fortress held off an 8k fleet and made them retreat. I think the fire rate + shield debuff modules had an effect, but the fortress was barely dented.

Fortresses have shitload of defense modules. They are supposed to be strong as planets are not provinces from EUIV and way more valuable.
