Space-Prison_2023_04-04-23_003.jpg

Space Prison is the darkest hole in the universe, the experimental entity gathering both guilty and innocent aliens under the jurisdiction of the artificial system. To stay alive you’ll need to find allies among criminals. Fight for respect in brutal turn-based brawls. And domesticate this hole.
While struggling to survive, find out the dark secrets this place hides and there is a chance you’ll be able to find your way out of here, one way or another…

SOCIAL SURVIVAL

Earn the trust and respect of the criminals to make them your allies. Build useful connections by helping prisoners with various jobs and learn personal stories hidden underneath those crooked faces. Just don’t step on the wrong alien’s toes. It may be the last thing you ever do.

bb_interaction_spaceprison_04.gif

TACTICAL TURN-BASED BRAWLS

Fight other convicts, alien creatures and the prison system in fast-paced, tactical turn-based brawls. Use your brain and allies, and move those feet quickly if you don’t want your motionless body to float through space.

SpacePrison_combat3.gif

PRISON CELL BASE

Get cozy in your own prison cell, collect junky scraps and improve your super-fancy furnishings: rocky crafting bench, hidden storage behind posters or even a house for your pet rats. There’s no better place than home, right?

space_prison_cell_upgrade2.gif

CRAFTING CONTRABAND

Look for scraps, destroy prison property, hunt alien vermin - all to get resources for crafting illegal tools and weapons that you or your inmates need. Be careful not to get caught and you’ll do just fine, fish.

BECOME A GANG BOSS

Join one of the prison gangs, like Gravity Fist or Hypernova, with different alien creatures, agendas and fighting styles. Use their backs to climb to the top of a social ladder and become powerful enough to face the prison system itself.

RAT COMPANIONS

There is no better friend than a rat. Gather snacks for these filthy creatures and soon enough you’ll have an army of long-toothed vermins ready to die for you. Just look into their cute red eyes!

Devs seem to be purposely avoiding the term "RPG":

https://www.gamespress.com/en-AU/OU...UNVEILED-FOR-SPACE-AGED-TURN-BASED-SURVIVAL-B

KRAKÓW, POLAND - APRIL 4, 2023 - Wooden Alien, a new Kraków based development studio, announced today that their debut title, Space Prison, a tactical turn-based survival brawler with cell-base building elements and a unique social ladder system, is coming to Steam PC, PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series.

Watch the Space Prison teaser trailer here: https://youtu.be/Pdk_wEZp_ts

Download the Space Prison press kit here: bit.ly/3m4ebYS

Set in an intergalactic maximum security prison in the darkest hole in the universe, Space Prison is an experimental entity, gathering both guilty and innocent alien creatures under the jurisdiction of the artificial system. Taking on the role of one of the odd alien creatures, gamers will uncover the mystery of this grim facility and a legendary convict who is said to have escaped it. Space Prison’s unique social ladder system will see players forming alliances and enemies in a fight for survival; joining gangs and earning respect to rise to the top and, maybe one day, reaching the ultimate goal: sweet freedom!

Space Prison features a diverse cast of questionable cosmic characters, each with their own special abilities, as well as weapons and equipment that can be crafted and upgraded. On the inside, players choose one of the galactic gangs to join, each supporting a different play style and unique mechanics, as well as its own secret gang hideout. The game also serves up plenty of cell-base customisation, collecting junky scraps and improving super-fancy furnishings: rocky crafting bench, storage in the hole behind posters, all the prison-break essentials.

"Space Prison combines survival with tactics and social dynamics" said Hubert Kubit, CEO at Wooden Alien. "We wanted to create a game that would immerse players in a detailed sci fi adventure universe and offer them a truly unique gameplay experience. With Space Prison, we believe we are well on our way to achieving that goal and are thrilled to be bringing it to PC, PlayStation and Xbox players”

More information on Space Prison, including the game's release window, will be announced in due course.

Players can join the Space Prison community now via the official Steam page, where they can wishlist the game now and support the developers. For more information on Wooden Alien, please visit their official website: woodenalien.com

What's with Polish devs and WOKE American esthetics?! This game looks like it's made by group of trannies in San Francisco yet group of Polish make it in Krakow. Poland JUST LOVEEEEEES the taste of American cultural zeitgeist cock. That's why except for Witcher, they made 0 (in words: Z E R O) good games. Because Polish urban midwit Slavic SJWs are belove-average programmers who watch Netflix and wear Marvel t-shirts and wanna just make pozzed American entertainment because Americans are too busy killing each other and dillating right now

Poland - country wih biggest number of dev studios yet we constantly get same tired boring chewed and spit out shit. No passion, no soul, no innovative game design or rare setting explored or refreshing and beautiful art style. No. Just Unreal female horse cock and Unity Hulk biceps with boobs scar after FtM transion surgery assests connected together. No "exploring ethics of survival in urban post-nuclear desert that is 50s America from future where transistor wasn't discovered and robots and deathclaws roam freely"

No, no, no. It's such a SOY. You can smell the SOY from screenshots and artwork alone. Poland is such a disappointment. KUUUUUUUUUUUR-WA!

It must be frustrating to see a culture that isn’t yours, and that you dislike, run rampant over other cultures that you previously respected.

To see people assimilate into something inferior, yet popular. Willingly, sometimes excitedly. In a through-the-looking-glass way, this is happening to some Americans *in* America itself, although I can’t claim the experience is quite the same since it’s a variant of our culture, not something foreign in origin. Just foreign in values.

It’s like you grew up in a large family all under one roof, only to learn your cousin is an arsonist by way of his setting fire to the house.

There is also Hard West (which did have WOKE af black Shaniquaa voodoo doctor fucking up whity in Wild West DLC tho)
Yes, there have been ALMOST as many as fingers on one hand decent gaming projects from Poland. Country where gaming company CDProjekt Red used to be #1 Company on their stock market (literally). Country with hundreds of Dev teams. Hundreds. On the other hand Ukranian, Russian, Belorussian, Czech, Hungarian and other devs from ex-Soviet countries almost always make games with soul, oriented toward hardcore audience, with close to 0% WOKE malarky

Even when we take into consideration that ALL Slavs have Westernised urban population, still! Polish thirst for Hollywood's zeitgeist is buffling. There is something wrong with modern Poland in the same way there is something wrong with modern Scotland and Ireland. They have so deeply enternalized being vassal state of their Enemy's Enemy to the point being their Master's (America) Slave is now their new identity

They released an updated demo for the Strategy Fest: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1865930/view/3667672744286909614
We have read your appeals, convicts, and we've decided to grant you some of your major requests in this Demo 2.0. Only for good behavior, mind you. But don't think that it's a rule!

Here are just a few things we’ve added lately:
  1. A new playable race - Ferath
. Responding to the appeals of Space Prison convicts, we're excited to introduce a thrilling addition: the ability to embody your beloved muscular alien lady.
  2. Hazards and Obstacles
. Combat arenas now contain dangerous objects that can be a hazard for your party. But you can also use them to your advantage, if you play around them smartly.
  3. Special Rat Items
. We’ve upgraded the Rat Nest in player Cell. Now you can invest resources into enhancing your rat, transforming it into a reliable ally and your ultimate friend.
  4. Party Screen
. All your allies in one place. You can see their stats and inventory and customize their gear changing the way they help you in combat.
  5. Hypernova intro quest
. You had a chance to prove yourself to Gravity Fist in the previosu demo. Now you can choose to join the Hypernova anarchists gang. If you’ve got the guts.
  6. Saboteur
. A new playable crime who uses Rat Tactics as their combat advantage.
Aaaaand much more fixes and improvements.

Really short demo, but the game seems interesting. Since Prisonscape was aborted i might play this one instead. The only prison rpg i know is Planet Alcatraz, well and also Gothic, but i'm not sure they count. Need something more restrictive.

There's Back to the Dawn, the chinese one with anthropomorphic animals. Marginally less blatant fetish bait than this one.

New release date!
Hey inmates,

We're excited to announce the full launch of Space Prison on
July 18, 2024
!

After the delay of the initial launch in April and the extensive playtests we held, we're finalizing the game now. This delay allowed us to have more time to improve the game with your feedback, create more content (quests, endgame, and adding the second gang), and also showcase the game to a broader audience. The progress we've made led us to opt for a full release instead of going into Early Access. We look forward to supporting the game post-launch. Thank you for your patience and support!

Want to see what being a prisoner will be like, try our demo!
We're incredibly excited about this upcoming milestone! Thank you for the feedback from the playtests and demos, we can't wait for you to play the game in full! Your ideas and input have been invaluable. As we enter this new phase, get ready—your escape plan needs to be solid, your sentence is about to begin!

Think you’re tough? This prison survival game is your ultimate test! Craft makeshift brass knuckles for turn-based brawls, form alliances with inmates using RPG-social mechanics, and uncover their backstories. You'll be thrown into the darkest, yet humor-infused hellhole, in a comic book-inspired artstyle. Your free will and identity will be suppressed. Don’t let the system break you.

Release details and a word from the team!
Price, timing... all the details about the game's release are here!
Hey inmates!

The release is closing in, and you’ve got questions about the big day on July 18! Here are the answers you’re hunting for! Space Prison will launch during TactiCon and will be showcased from July 18 to July 22!

Please note that the previous Steam news article incorrectly stated the
release time
for Space Prison; the correct starting hour is
8:00 PM (CEST)
instead of 4:00 PM (CEST).
We've made a
release timing map
further below in this post!

81e8314dbef76211f4cc4b85f5da6ff44f833ca2.png

But, first off, the whole team wanted to share a word with you:

We just wanted to take this occasion to say a huge
THANK YOU
to all of you who've been testing our game and providing us with your invaluable feedback. Your input has been crucial in making Space Prison the game it is today.

Thanks to you, we've been able to fine-tune the gameplay, squash bugs, and add features that make the game even more exciting and engaging. Because of your feedback, we were able to focus on the things that really matter to you, like cool criminal characters, turn-based combat and, of course, space rats. We couldn't have done it without you!

For those of you looking to buy Space Prison, we wanted to clear up a couple of things about what the game isn't:
  • It’s NOT a roguelike (nor a roguelite). While we do have roguelite elements like a prison map that changes every day (corridors shift, so prisoners can’t plan their escape) and player character dying, you do not need to start from scratch when you snuff it. Your consciousness is saved in the collar and transferred to a new body (“Death is not an excuse for a shorter sentence”).
  • It’s not The Escapists. While you do plan your survival and interactions, Space Prison is more about doing quests for quirky criminals to get them to join your squad, challenging others for their spot in the gang, gathering and gearing up your party to use them in turn-based combat against other inmates, alien creatures infesting the station and prison system itself.
  • It’s not a Space Rat Breeding Simulator. Even though, thanks to you guys, we’ve added many improvements for the rats (naming them, equipping them with tiny weapons for battle, healing them in your cell's burrow or upgrading their skills), we’re not a game about raising space rats;)
So, if you're ready for a wild ride in the galaxy's most notorious prison, filled with tactical combat, social RPG mechanics, and a whole lot of space rats, then Space Prison is the game for you.
Thanks again for all your support and feedback. We can't wait to see you behind bars!

Cheers!

_

Concept seems cool, not sure about that artwork though. And on that gameplay footage enemies seems to be huge hp sponges :3/5:

the game is sorta ok, it's endless crafting to craft to craft to craft, but the aesthetics are wack - enemies don't feel like HP sponges at all, but the combat is jank that feels like an auto battler without the auto
the two player alien races are shitty concepts from the outset, ugly ass dommy mommies and floating techno-necro-Marfans

if MDickie gave prisoners those goofy spaceman bubble helmets, he'd automatically have the best sci-fi prison game

As someone that doesn't like crafting, this game sounds like hell.
