So, what is the Codex actually looking forward to?

Not everybody has PMS over The Witcher like you do.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
Hmm. Seems that Eschalon Book 2 will be released within the next couple of weeks.

Basilisk just announced a Q2 2009 release for the game.

I an suprised how many RPG'ers on here loved the Witcher. It's more of an action\adventure game and based on that its very well done, but as an RPG I thought it was poor. Great artwork though.

Getting a new action/adventure game on the level of the first Witcher is as cool in my eyes as a new RPG. Genre is pretty irrelevant to me, as long as some good gaming fun is to be had, and Witcher certainly delivered huge amounts of fun. Looking forward to part 2 very, very much. Geralt ftw.

And besides, the c&c in TW was magnifficent. Rather a few key choices than many minor ones.

One has to wonder what the hell someone is even doing on a gaming forum if he isn't looking forward to anything at all and adapts the role of hardcore gaming nazi who denies having fun with anything that doesn't meet the impossibly high criteria rpgcodex has.

And Witcher is a fun game if *gaspOMG* you take it for what it is. So what if it isn't a true rpg?

And F3: New Vegas?
It will be a fucking New Reno with stupid mafia all over again which was the worst and most lulz-ridden part in F2, except they are making it as a whole addon to Failout 3 now.

Codex likes swimming in shit, that's for sure.

Yes because before the new shit there were no games. Codex turns into ESF Jr. with their retarded logic with each passing day.

I am just here to spy sometimes a glimmer of hope that will be crushed, to reminiscence about the olden days, and to agree with KC as I become more right-wing every passing day.

Yeah, I was wondering how some people claim to be hardcore gamers yet they say they haven't played a recent game in years. Those guys playing multiplayer games all day look like hardcore gamers to me.

Never have I met anyone on the Codex claiming to be a "hardcore gamer".

Alpha Protocol (will probably be severely flawed but a nice try anyways)
Dragon Age (not getting my hopes up though)
Risen (looks like it might finally reach P.B.'s potential)
Gothic 4 (could really suck since it's not by P.B.)
The next Wii Zelda
Wticher 2 (First one was really good)
Divinity 2: Ego Draconis (First Divinity was great. Second game appears to be following in footsteps)

Cool. But maybe you could have more fun with some of the new titles like TW and ME if you let go of your expectations as to what they have to be in order to be good and just enjoyed them for what they are. Not saying you didn't already attempted doing this and still found them awful for one reason or another, but personally having a more open-minded approach really worked for me. FO3 is one of my favorite recent games because I tried to focus less on the aspects that pissed me off and focused on the parts of the game that actually worked really well. Same with ME and whatnot.
And for that same reason I'm suddenly finding myself looking forward to a lot of new mainstream titles I wouldn't have touched earlier, including ME2 and Alpha Protocol.

Eh, I tried Jade Empire, that was the last new RPG I tried, and Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was pretty fun, but it's not the kind of game I like. Jade Empire was entertaining too, but it also made me lose all hope for the future of the genre I grew up with.

An open mind is good, but if it is too open, all the brains leak out.

I'm not saying these newer games can't be fun; but pessimism really seems the best way to go when it comes to the genre this board is named after. There just won't be games like I used to love anymore, though I hope for a Dark Spire II.

They are now a new, simple, flashy style.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I don't have high hopes for anything, but, pending peer review, I'll probably grab:

ME2
Dragon Age
Alpha Protocol

I hated TW, so not going to bother with TW2. The above games will likely skew more towards average than great, but I'll take what I can get.

Except New Reno was full of C&C, cool dialogue, cool quests, and a fucking porn studio.

Ultimately it's what New Reno represents what matters: humanity's unwavering resolve to continue ridiculing itself, and falling prey to its same mistakes over and over again.

You're one sad troll, skyway. At least the others put up a good fight.

I would, however, agree with you here to an extent: it's certainly meh. Too much walking and killer bees.

I've never thought I would ever agree with Skyway but it's true. How come nearly everybody here likes it?

Second quarter ends in August I believe so could be like 10 weeks away still....I hope sooner though.

Age of Decadence, Diablo 3, and even Alpha Protocol, if only because it's not another swords and sorcery game.

Mass Effect/Fallout/Witcher sequels are off the radar for me because I have yet to play the originals.

As for non-RPGs, Elemental: War of Magic, Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend.

Get Witcher and I promise you you wont regret it. Amazing game all the way through. Also, have you not played Fallout 1 and 2? What kind of a Codexian are you, man?

Haha, sorry, I mean I haven't played the original FALLOUT 3. That game, its sequels and various DLC are a whole new beast in my mind.
