Story Trailer just came out today. Was thinking there was a thread for the game already, but I guess it was just being talked about in threads for other horror games and stuff.

Saw that trailer a few hours ago. I ended up skipping through the video because it was so tedious. It could pass for a Watch Dogs Legion expansion – set in China. The colourful parasite/monsters look Suda51 levels of goofy, not scary at all. The various interruptions in gameplay, intrusive UI elements prevent any attempts at building up tension.
It's hard to believe this is from the creator of Silent Hill and Siren.

I don't know how they think that combat is okay to do

It's just so stiff and wooden. I guess the directional attack thing is kinda fresh? But the animation is just insanely wooden. And going for glowing orb for story piece is just eugh

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Concept reminds me of Messiah game.

The body "jumping" during a combat stiffens the experience, these animations during attacks are horrendous.

Yeah, the idea of it reminds me of Messiah. That The 3rd Birthday PSP Parasite Eve game also has that body swapping idea in combat to get around the battle field idea this game has.

The body jumping during combat has nothing to do with the game coming off stiff.

Kowlong Express: Bringing Forgotten Fragments into Slitterhead

What were the motivations to set Slitterhead in the world of “Kowlong”? We flew out of Japan with Toyama to take a deeper dive into some fragments of his memory, chasing the urban energy & aesthetics that inspired the game.

Damn I wanted this one to be good, but I just don't like what i see here. So far 2024 is zero AAA purchases, it's been absolutely dismal this year.

I don't understand why a director would go from action-adventure to horror. Can only assume he didn't have options after Gravity Rush 2.

It doesn't even look like a horror game. Nothing scary about brightly coloured monsters.

This just makes me want a Prototype 3 (or a retconned Prototype 2, rather).

I think I may pull the trigger and pick it up later today; still debating it.. looks pretty low-budget but interesting. I don't really refund games unless I know they won't get any better. If it was around 30 dollars it would be easier to take the plunge.

So I mostly bought this because the name "slitterhead" made my skin crawl when I read it. It's the same kinda idea as something like of orcs and men or mars war logs in that it's a ragtag team doing their very best which is charming to me.

You walk around and do little investigations with minor puzzles and then enter a combat arena periodically to battle a monster. The combat is strange and stiff. Seems to be parry focused and it's made by Asians so they're assuming you have Asian reactions and timing. I eat shit a lot. You have a main character who has good moves when you possess her or you can possess the mooks milling about as shitty cannon fodder. You get combat bonuses for frequently switching bodies. I don't think it's supposed to be a spooky horror game, it's more goofy like resident evil.

I've played a couple missions so far, but honestly wanna ask for a refund. Shiny's Messiah put this possession gimmick to a much better use.

Slitterhead can't even stick to it's own rules when it comes to possession, the game just randomly decides who you can posses and who you can't depending on the mission.

Example: you need to infiltrate a building. There's a security in your way. You would think you posses the security and enter, right? Wrong! You can't posses the security for some reason, but you can posses some random guy on a balcony so you can jump across and enter the building.

And it's not like it's difficult to find that guy, it's very linear and devoid of any kind of creative thinking on your part.

This kind of bullshit immediately puts me off of playing a game any further.
