Come to think of it, where do Lilith and co. go after Tiamat is summoned? Why don't they appear at the end?

Because they sacrifice themselves to resurrect Tiamat and awake Yoko's power.

Why can Mastema just control Tiamat?

Mastema could turn people into angels in SJ and create a time paradox in IV, controlling demons is part of his myth.

Finally finished my Creation route (and first playthrough of SMT V) run today.

Overall I really enjoyed it. I liked the Demon Haunt feature and it worked well alongside those petrified statues to provide a quicker/lazy way to boost up demon stats.

Lacking a world map like in Nocturne or even IV definitely made the game feel a bit smaller in scale, though I definitely enjoyed exploring each of locations more in V.

Playing on Hard, difficulty felt just about about right, with a bit of a spike in the last area Taito when you first arrive, as the key holders were quite a bit above you in terms of levels. Gameplay was solid & enjoyable throughout, enjoyed the Magatsuhi mechanic (though the crits for all was 90% of what I used) and enjoyed the spiced up Magatsuhi-infused red demon battles quite a bit too, especially early on.

Not sure if I'll move straight onto the Vengeance route or take a break, it's taken a good while to reach the end after all. Solid entry to the series based on the Creation route alone though.

Got the destoy the throne ending, final boss Tsukuyomi was a bit eh, went back and killed Shiva afterwards but I guess I'd already gone past the ending lock in point as it didn't change my ending subsequently and I don't think I missed any other requirements for the secret ending so that'll have to wait for a subsequent run.

Story had some weird choices that didn't go anywhere and/or had aspects that I feel were underutilised; it would have been interesting if that school girl had become a Nahobino with Lahmu, but no, they just just died. The death scene was well done though and I guess it served its narrative purpose in that regard.

Tao became a goddess for reasons I'm not quite sure of, I don't think she's a Nahobino like the protagonist at least. Didn't really feel like it was explained what was going on there.

The other prominent students never really got cool Nahobino forms or any combat apperances that I recall except the very endgame fusion bit, I guess. Would have liked to see a bit more from them, like how IV's samurai were combat guest characters during portions of IV. Maybe this is improved/different in the Vengeance route, but overall it felt like a bit of a missed opportunity. There were a few neat twists I didn't really see coming like with Khonsu's relationship with the Miyazu, but aside from tying up some early game dialogue there wasn't much of consequence.

pretty obviously going to be either mara, jack frost or maybe mothman. I would prefer oni or hell biker

oni is probably the most funniest demon in general and useful is most of smt games

edit. browsed through twitter replies, with a quick look cumhair & mothman was mentioned the most

Well, I must say, the devs got some balls - putting a huge Mara midgame optional boss like that, in the open, visible from a mile away and on the main story path.
I rather expected it to be a hidden / end game demon, but now, you must find an alternative route if you want to get past it without a fight early in the 3rd area.
:salute:

Omagotoki Dance + Pandemonic Feast seems to work well. Using this alongside Axel Claw on Nahobino plus whatever multihit moves I can get on allies (like Alice Die for Me! or Sukuna Blizzard, some breaths on Quing Long, Damascus Claw on Yaksini - maybe should upgrade her to Axel - on the other hand her career is closing to an end, I think). Using debuffs/buffs and Charge / Concentrate before the Omagotoki round. Can't wait till I upgrade to Rampage / Madness Nails + Critical Aura + Critical Zealot. And fuse Vritra dragon to replace both Yaksini (Pandemonic Feast) and Quing Long (dragon for Dance access).

And maybe get Red Rider on my roster. Terrorblade with its 250 power x 1-3 and Pierce, maximized and boosted to x5 should be neat...

Artemis DLC goddess seems pretty broken for her level (37). An attack that instantly minimizes enemy defences, an attack buff, an attack with a very strong Confusion chance plus a highest number of attacks (15!) multihit in the game?
Its honestly a bit much.

dlc demons are busted yeah which makes sense so retards bought em in original smt5, speedrunners only use cleopatra since she don't require any quest other than beating her

pandemonic feast shenanigans are very good there are only few combos which are stronger

has anyone here beaten the game on hard without using magatsuhi skills or dampeners? they trivialize most bosses especially accursed poison but i also feel like theyre needed for some of the late game bosses. i remember struggling with the 2nd zeus fight because he kept one shotting most my party with impaler's animus + aoe so i had to rely on shield of god just to survive it (then again i was also several levels below him). im just trying to find the right balance of difficulty when i play through this version

Yeah. No dampeners is fine most of the time (unless you count block skill cheating too, or marakarn/tetrakarn) but magatsuhi skill almost doesnt feel viable without (maybe if you grind good enough demons with specific skills and create demons that block or resist everything so 90% of the game become trivial except for endgame bosses with almightly skills) though i agree some magatsuhi skills are OP like the prayer one that heals and resurrect all demons including in the bench.

Speaking of which, yoshitsune is still trucking along even if i am 10 levels ahead of him. hassou tobi + charge + buff is just that good.

mothman is my fav demon. kinda want to take him to the end as a challenge and grind for essences, sutra and grimoires to beef him up. i think there were also miracles that grant bonus stats upon fusion (e.g. flat bonuses or inheriting a portion from the components).

Vitality is a pretty good stat.
I raise Vitality and Strenght equally (currently 81 each at level 58). Yesterday I fought the Pale Rider, without preparation.
He butchered my companions pretty fast with Pestilence and his Ice aoe attack spam.

Only Nahobino was left, with Rider having over 3/4 health. And what do you know, he couldn't make decisive blows (Nulled Ice and Resisted Physical) and I have slowly worn him down solo, suffering from debuffs and statuses from his summoned Loas (eventually become impervious to their status spam). I was only careful to quickly remove poison effects, which could compound the damage too much. Could maybe do it faster with Omagotoki Critical, but I preferred to keep the regeneration from max gauge.
Funny thing is, he never used Pestilence against my solo Nahobino, kept trying with nulled Ice and regular attacks instead (plus sometimes Poison cloud).

Agrat first encounter I rolfstomped halfway trough first Omagotoki Dance round.
Granted I'm probably a bit overlevelled, as I used 4 Balms to get to level 55, summon Hecatonheires and then use a couple demon status to have him gift his Essence: for Rampage, Citical Zealot and Critical Aura - to boast some of the most damaging abilities in the game halfway trough 3rd area. Also have Vritra for Omagotoki:Dance & Pandemonic Feast and Red Rider for Terror Blade (250 power, 1-3 hits with Pierce and chance to Terrify - goes to 5 hits for 1250 with Dance and Feast).

Despite bare bones story and worse yet, the carefree exploration without any attrition, the gaming loop is quite addictive.
The maze-like 3D environment is interesting to explore (perhaps the points of interest, like glory crystals and treasure cubes shouldn't be automapped - finding them on one's own would certainly feel more rewarding - like is the case with the minman). But still, even with their location marked, finding the right path to reach them is sometimes challenging.
Plus there's always an upgrade just a short playtime away. Either of Nahobin's skills, affinities or, most frequently, new demon recruitment and fuse options.

Things get quite crazy as the game progresses, with Nahobino becoming really godlike, with great stats and being able to attack and crit enemies even like 30 times in a round (with some sheningans).

Also the game mechanics really open up in the last parts of the game, with a large collection of essences and abilities to customize your MA and demons with.
Its actually fascinating how many mechanics are included, with many of them valid oreven OP - and your freedom to pick and choose them.
