The problem with Anomaly is the modding community are obsessed with turning it into Tarkov-lite.

Never tried S.T.A.L.K.E.R mods, but I heard there is quite a lot to choose from.

Yes, you do have quite a selection.
From what I remember trying :
I thought Automn Aurora was quite nice, but it has a nasty bug where if you have more than 5 or so active quests it breaks your save. It also added Metro skins which I wasn't a fan of.
Zone of Alienation is great if you're into gun porn, but it's super unstable.
L.U.R.K is also very much a gun-porn mod and they changed it so that bullets are what provides the damage stat as opposed to the gun itself. It also comes with a graphical overhaul.
MISERY is...aptly named. It's basically a hard-core difficulty mod and if I remember correctly was the basis of Anomaly. It also added a bunch of pointless mechanics that found their way into Anomaly, but Anomaly does come with a bunch of settings that allows you to configure them. There's no option to leave out the Metro bits or Hip though.

Misery 1.2 had much less autism than version 2.

That said I've never really enjoyed the "hardcore realism" type mods that much. More combat danger early on makes the progression via gear feel more meaningful, but I've always disliked the survival 'tisms that so many modders seem to love.
