Sergey Galyonkin isn't the CEO of GSC, he works at Epic Games (in addition to running Steamspy). He knows about it because it's going to use the Unreal Engine.

As mentioned if it's not the original team then I won't really have any big hopes for it. We'll see if they manage to capture the same atmosphere as the previous games.

You don't need big talent or big resources to make a stalker, you just need the passion and the willpower to make a "out of the line" fps open world, big software house will never do that.

With Unreal Engine im doubtful that they will recreate magical atmosphere from original Stalker series. Unreal Engine 4 is very clean and sterile engine. I would be much more hyped if this game was developed by 4A Games, not only they have better talent, more manpower but also they developed Metro series which is very good, and they are definitely more capable than GSC to bring us worthy continuation. GSC Game World last game are Cossacks 3 which is pretty bad from what i heard, didnt played it.

Cossacks 3 was released 20 september 2016, probably they started working on Stalker 2 after Cossacks release. Im cautiously interested, definitely not hyped.

If i remember correctly, the key personnel involved in actually creating STALKER were the ones who pissed off to form 4A, which is why clear sky and COP have absolutely nothing new in them beyond engine updates.

STALKER is one of the most modded games ever and its enduring popularity in ex-Soviet states really gives me high hopes for a sequel.

The only studio I would trust with developing a proper sequel would be 4A Games, but it would have to remain in an open world and Metro is the exact opposite.

If Cossacks 3 is any indication of GSC Gameworld's current level of talent, STALKER 2 could end up like Gothic 4.

^Same. Grigorovich or whatever his name was didn't have the dosh to make it happen 5 years ago IIRC so wtf changed? Is this a kickstarter-type thing or summat? Also, what's GSC been up to since COP? Anything of note?
No indication that it can be good and hell, no indication if it's even feasible at this point, so imma reserve hype. But hey maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.
