- Risen 1 magic crystals are back
- The difficulty in the current beta seems low but is to be adjusted

- Combat seems to be more like Risen 1. Timing LMB clicks is back, right click to hold up a parry, time RMB to do counter attacks, enemies react to your parries and use power attacks
- Dirty tricks, guns and monkey training from Risen 2 are in
- Three guilds, but only one is known so far - ZE MAGES. Pirates will prob make a comeback, but it is unknown to what extent.

- Lotsa quests already early on, with supposedly multiple solutions and intimidate/silver tongue checks in dialogues.
- Explorashun is atmospheric with all kinds of environments and no loading times (at least on that one island lolololo)
- An optional ASTRAL VISION (tm) that colours all useful shit along the way..... WTF. Also an optional minimap
- Typical npc daily cycles
- Looting KO'd people is back
- QTE minigames with knife-throwing and shit, which are apparently broken as hell in the current beta
- QTE traps hurr, although they are not instakills anymore
- No more alien foliage that grows/shrinks when you get closer
- Character screens are like in risen2, FFS
- There's a "soul meter" which seems to be like a karma system essentially. Lie to people or behave like an asshole and it goes down, act nice and get points. Supposedly, the meter will actually affect gameplay, change people's reactions to you, shape the story, influence quests and dialogues, etc.
- Abundance of healing items further reinforces low difficulty.
