Greetings, all!

As a recent backer of Realms Beyond - a turn-based open gaming license D&D 3.5 RPG due to release next year - I was curious what suggestions you have for this game. Preferably, you'll put those on the official forums so the devs and community can read and respond to them. I request this so the game will be the best it can be!

If you've already done this, then great!

Thankee!

My suggestion would be for devs to start giving news regularly. Atm it seems they took the money and ran.

My suggestions would be:

1. Don't implement prestige classes and focus on implementing the base classes well. Why? They have already said they are not going to do multi-classing because it would take too much effort yet most of the interesting prestige classes come from combining attributes of two other classes. I can't believe that they said they weren't going to do multi-classing then said they wanted to implement a prestige class that imitates the Wizardry's Bishop class - that annoyed me. I don't think having prestige classes will add anything and I can live without multi-classing as well; it actually reduces the amount of munchkin-ism that will go on and adds value to the creation of the total party.

2. (Given they have committed to portraits) put effort into the consistency of the portraits. One of the things that always irks me with these kinds of games is the inconsistency of styles and also having not enough. The game is apparently going to allow the creation of six characters and has more than the normal number of races because of sub-race types of humans; as a consequence there will need a lot of portraits to be aesthetically pleasing. It's a trap for indie developers as there is a lot of costs associated with graphic design but I (and I suspect other backers) would have been happy enough with text cues and the character models.

3. Stick to what they are good at and to what most people bought into originally. I am conscious that this game was originally the Chaos Chronicles and then it got restarted again so it has already had a rocky road. The consistent themes have been that it is iso turn-based Open 3.5 rules, create your own party (as opposed to talking NPC worlds of Eternity and Kingmaker) - I presume those are also the reasons people like myself backed it. The world map and the associated movement and exploration (what has been shown so far) actually looks like it would be really good, the turn based combat looks okay, the town scenes look okay, the inventory and associated customization is fine. If these elements are good and well refined then it will probably be a relatively well recieved game. I don't give two bobs worth about the story and I am not expecting it to be about the story, so don't waste too much time and effort in this space.

They should focus on releasing a game with realistic features for they budget and expand it (classes, scenarios, side-quests, amazing races/classes and secret NPC ) after they reach a stable build and they're filthy rich already.

No, you are just an idiot. This is how you developed games back in the day, not by flirting with faggots like you on Twitter.

The irony of this necro-post, which is almost as frequent as updates on Chaos Chronicles Realms Beyond. I am not asking for even regular updates with much information - just anything....

Suggestions
  • Allow the additions of races & classes via modding (the best thing that happened to ToEE is Temple+)
  • Get the combat system to be as good as in ToEE and KotC
  • An optimized engine would be great
Very important one
  • No animated background (plants, water and shit like that) or at least as few as possible and if you have to, an option to disable that shit, please.
