I heard they just used the original source image before mosiacs were added, which is why they look pretty terrible (because they never expected to need to use those images for an English release a decade down the line and thus the artist put no effort in those areas)

I think Evenicle got into Steam due dumb luck, really. The mini-expansion featuring Rance was probably not translated and released because it would have made the main game censored in no time. Shame but it will not happen, Rance games will not get into Steam. Meanwhile, gay/cannibalistic/deviant/furry homo-sex visual novels and such are given a fair pass, no matter their quality or lack of it.

Steam really has no consistent policy for passing porn. I think Taimanin Asagi got banned because some character has a school uniform on it. To me it seems that they have several different people deciding what'll pass with no uniform guidelines.

This patch fixes a number of issues including:
- Mouse stuck freeze after dragging commanders or items to the left side of the screen
- Error message when getting Game Over
- Minor graphical glitch at the end of a battle (fade out effect missing for battle bar)

What does Recruitment Magnifier does? In the fan translation it was called Unit Magnifier.

I tried using it and nothing change, specifically the total troop count of my commanders hasn't changed.

Finished my first playthrough of mangagamer edition with 32 score. That's better than I expected, but I failed a lot of what I hoped to accomplish in game (failed to clear head monk, beat takeda blitz too late so I couldn't scoop anyone up). First game was way harder than I rememberd early on, but I wound up crushing the actual monster army with no trouble.
Noticed one bug I haven't before (senhime left complaining of no combat, even though she was in combat).
Noticed one new feature that is really great for me, which is click undo as long as you move the cursor away before letting go of the button.
Edit: they also made the 'meta game progress report' much prettier but way less readable.

I think some of the choices in the translation are pretty weird (Samurai and Miko is all good but Ashigeru? Sohei?), but overall it's high quality. The exception is a few menu options which I would have no idea what it meant if I didn't already know (national mode? That's what you're going with?).

Lacks of newspost about this game is just one more reason on the list of why Infinitron is a no-taste traitor.

What's wrong with the term ashigaru? The "foot soldiers" are literally the ashigaru of Sengoku Rance world.

Yeah, I like the translation too, you might not like the memes but at least the choice of words made more sense than the fan translation version.

I guess what actually bothers me is the inconsistency with using japanese terms and more general english terms. Ie, ashigaru, but archer, Tactician not X, etc. Either is fine, but you should pick one, and I happen to prefer words I can actually pretend to pronounce

Yeah, pretty much. I can't even begin to pretend I can pronounce that word mentally, so I just replace it with diviner. It doesn't even have its own wikipedia page.
And I mean fine, diviner is a bad word too (they don't divine anything at any point).
As far as I can tell they are basically spirit/god summoners according to the deep lore. So summoner or theurgist would seem a better word.

Although for this one I do agree with you that using a purely english term would've made it easier to tell what they do. (Diviner probably uses some kind of magic, an "onmyoji" we have to google it.)

Miko gets a pass because it's a distinct profession that is pretty well-known among weebs.
