Decline PS4 wins the console war against XboxONE, yet it is a hollow victory as Consolesdämmerung is upon us

All early console titles of a new generation look like shit. Give it time, and watch how PC system requirements will rise over time, too.

They'll rise once we leave last-gen behind, obviously. But that's not what you said. You said that the new consoles still have "lots of hidden power that needs to be exploited". I'm saying that games will run equally well on equivalent PC hardware, which I feel is corroborated by multiplatform games thus far. Do you believe otherwise? Based on what, pray tell?

It's not a matter of believe, it's a matter of engineers tapping into the potential of GCN architecture once it's really required due to more ambitious game design (I'd hope). Right now these cross-platform games look more like PC SKUs that were lazely backported to PS4, which makes sense since development had to start years ago where there were still no PS4 devkits available. So there's a lot of outdated legacy code left.

The PS4 now has 8 Asynchronous Command Engines available that allows the compute units to be constantly fed with instructions at low cycle overhead, meaning more parallelism, more efficient use of the GPU and better performance overall. Emphasize on efficiency. You don't see that yet in the cross-platform titles obviously. The question is whether these new code improvements also carry over the the PC. I'd think so.

Let me first say fuck all these companies and their shitty console boxes and paid exclusives. Fuck them in the ass.

That said, I hope the price drop and Kinect removal don't save Microsoft's bacon here. I have a special hatred for Xbox since it pretty much raped and tortured PC gaming when the original Xbox launched, and would rather Sony destroy them (before eventually going out of business themselves).

Both PS1 and PS2 were fine systems and part of different market than PC. The multi-platform shit started with Xbox and for that it should die. I demand a trial by combat.

Those are Watch Dogs' specs right? I meet everything except RAM, I only have 4GB. I know RAM is super cheap but any RAM I get today is a waste since I am upgrading to new mobo architecture in a few months or so. Guess I won't be able to experience the glory that is Watch Dogs.

It will run on 4 gb for sure,if they don't lock it from starting.

Since there's a version that runs on PS3 the fucking game SHOULD run on 1GB, but who fucking knows. Gotta sell that PC hardware.

Windows 7 alone eats 1GB RAM. Or was it more? Let alone other services and apps that run in the background.

Minimum RAM should be set 8GB these days. Everything lower is just cheapo.

4GB has run every game at max until today, so... yeah.

Also Windows stops using all that RAM when you launch a game. Welcome to 2008, supposed tech genius.

You do realize the new consoles have 8GB RAM as well? Do you still think 4GB is gonna cut it?

This is something you still seem to thick to understand. When there are exclusive next-gen games ported to PC, I will be more than understanding of higher system requirements. What is stupid is games with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, which is 10 year old hardware, requiring higher specs for the fuck of it. If Watch Dogs can run on an Xbox 360 you can bet your fucking ass it could run on my quad core, GTX 480 and 4GB of RAM. The fact it claims it cannot is retardo to the extreme.

If they optimized and scaled a bit more they could easily double how many PCs the game can run on, if not more. Instead they refuse, and then will point out how much better the game sold on consoles as some kind of evidence the PC market sucks during a console transition. Heaven forbid I wait a year to upgrade and expect Xbox 360 ports I could max a week ago to simply run at all.

All of it? LMAO.

"All that RAM" means as much as you quoted, you twit. Since Vista Windows has loaded up your RAM with shit while you're on the desktop, but as soon as you launch memory-hogging software it ditches all that shit and runs on a much lower memory footprint. This is pretty standard knowledge.

It won't suffice long-term. It's a horrible investment. A cheapo investment.

Enjoy your console-like 30 fps.

"You can't build something 'next-gen' without spending $1000!!!!!!!"
"Yes you can, here."
"That's not good enough you cheapskape."

Okay then.

And 40 fps is not solid, but that's subjective I suppose.

Oh, you're just retarded. Okay.

my sides

This deification to AMD's molasses mobile chips in the consoles, while pissing on their vastly superior desktop chips, all of them sub-Intel. This pained desperation.
