Decline PS4 wins the console war against XboxONE, yet it is a hollow victory as Consolesdämmerung is upon us

Sorry, I can't take anyone serious who recommends an AMD CPU.
...the cpu that's in every console that is supposedly unbeatable by anything less than an i7...

AMD CPU's are shit. Slow, and draw too much power. Consoles have that little advantage like small API-footprint.

Seriously, no wonder people around here are so technically illiterate. Recommending AMD CPU and 750 Ti. Really. Don't get butthurt at me because I'm simply stating the truth.

For comparison, PC version recommended is a Core i7 3770.

Except for that part where, in real life gaming, hyperthreading generally DECREASES performance by up to 5 FPS.
A 3670 will perform equally or even outperform a 3770 while gaming, and where they perform equally a higher clock speed is more important than the inclusion of hyperthreading. Whomever is suggesting a 3770 is retarded or on Intel's payroll.

No it usually does not decrease performance, that's a myth spread by i5 cheapos.

Modern engines (like I'd expect used by Watch Dogs) are heavely multi-thread optimized, so 8-cores will benefit. The consoles use 8-cores too. Duh.

Mate most "modern engines" are still looking to be runnable on Core2duos. They are not optimized for 8 cores, because very few people have 8 physical cores.
Even in places where hyperthreading does not slow down performance, it will only offer a 1-2fps gain for an extra $100 USD.

I'm almost wondering if you're on Intel's payroll, given how hard you're pushing something that offers no benefit for a ton more money.

I think it did indeed decrease performance on the Sandy Bridge gen of i7. With Ivy and Haswell, HT works better and actually helps in many cases from what I can tell.
That being said system requirements like "Recommended i7 3770K" are nonsense most of the time.

So a CPU taken from the recommended specs and a GPU better than the recommended are not enough? Riveting tale, chap.:hmmm:

A 750 Ti is not better than the recommended cards. Entry level. Even slower than a 7850. It might suffice for minimum though, if you're a cheapo.

I'm looking forward to when Watch Dogs comes out in a couple weeks and half the internet is gonna whine because it runs so shitty on their supposedly superior $500 PCs.

Are you trolling mate?

My ancient AMD can run this at solid 40FPS

Before optimization patches, it couldn't run the unmodded base game smoothly...

You literally set the requirement at what your ubisoft game recommends, and it recommends an i7 or his AMD CPU. So which is it? Do you need to meet the recommendations or are the recommendations bullshit?

Including new case, good PSU brand, 16GB RAM, new mobo, new CPU, new GPU..... yeah, I think $1000 is alright.

You're still wrong about the 7870M. Stop spreading disinformation, and learn to properly argue.

New Case - literally useless. Why would you want a new case?
Good PSU Brand - OK, $60 or so assuming your current one is shit.
16 GB of Ram - useless, 8 GB is fine. $50, if you don't already have it
Mobo - $75
CPU - $150-200
GPU - $300, lets splurge a bit.

Looks to be $700. And I was being generous, $600 is more reasonable. And this is just a few steps away from top of the line gaming PC.

That's GTA 4, not Watch Dogs. What are you trying to prove?

And 40 fps is not solid, but that's subjective I suppose.

In this instance solid simply means that the framerate is reliable (as in it does not vary.)

With the video he's probably implying that the modded version of GTA IV either has steeper requirements than Watch Dogs or that it looks better and thus should have steeper requirements which in turn would mean that Watch Dogs would run better on the same system.

Also, I don't know how reliable the website http://www.videocardbenchmark.net is but here are the two videocards in the recomended specs and the 750 ti:

7850:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+7850&id=323
560 ti:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+560+Ti&id=18
750 ti:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+750+Ti

And according to at least that score the 750 ti is roughly equivalent to them. Of course that does not necessarily mean that it is a good buy but at least it should run Watch Dogs well.

I think when you try to overclock this piece of shit @5 Ghz it might be as fast as an i5 @3Ghz.

Clearly, only cheapos buy AMD CPUs.

No one said that AMD CPUs were as fast as intel. You fail to understand the discussion going on here, which is to prove that the system requirements are hot air because Ubisoft is equating them when everyone knows that they are not equivalent. You are literally dumb enough that you are proving the point I was making, yet you still think you came off good in this exchange.

learn to properly argue.

People should not forget that game worlds in (true) next-gen games become larger and more interactive. That naturally requires a stronger CPU, and more threads always help keeping the GPU constantly fed. Better CPU + more RAM = more interactivity = better gameplay.

Watch Dogs is still old-gen design.

Which exactly CPU do you have and how mamy fps were not smooth enough for you on release version ? I wonder if I could try to run GTA4 smoothly now, without CPU upgrade.
Release version was running at ~30fps on my C2D, so I decided to wait until upgrade, but since ArmA 2 and GTA4 are the only games, I would need this upgrade for, both the upgrade and the games are on hold.

How do you know that? The game isn't out yet. At least wait for benchmarks before calling out Ubisoft for talking hot air.

because Ubisoft is equating them when everyone knows that they are not equivalent.
