Looks horribly consolized, with very tight environments, and shitty visuals. Poor CryEngine.

I remember Arkane making a separate PC interface for Dishonored, aside from that the tight environments would relate to how the game takes place on a space station and I'm not sure how you think the visuals themselves are shitty? I thought they looked quite good.

Dishonored looks awesome, it has a very distinct aesthetic that will probably hold better to scrutiny years from now, while photo realism will always loose appeal.

Oh dear, I am afraid you posted Scam Citizen and thus ...

INVALID!

... Try again!

Oh its not what is capable of doing, its what is capable of doing at 30 FPS in a console hardware, Scam Citizen shows many pretty pictures ... how people forget Ubisoft shows "gameplay footage" and then the graphics are downgraded when it have to run followed by people trying to up the graphics to the demo that usually doesnt work and always with a severe performance impact.

Yep, why Doom 1,2 and Heretic still look far better aesthetically to me than the boring brown/gray FPS games of these last 2 generations.

A horse of course

It looks like it has the same awful aliasing from DishonoUred 1 though.

I hope you don't believe that Ubisoft didn't know that consoles won't be able to run it. Technically, there weren't any downgrades, because those visuals weren't going to be in release anyway.
Scam Citizen is already playable though, but if you don't like it, you may want to check the other games which using the 4th generation.

People say this as if we're still in 2003 or something. The fidelity already reached a level that it won't be getting much better unless people start making games for PC again.

I don't think the Prey 2017 devs are going for photorealism, so comparing to let's say Star Citizen is a moot point. They try to implement their own style, just like Dishonored did, and it is at least decent.

Games with a unique style>photorealistic games anyway (unless it is a simulator).

The lighting looks terrible.

I hate the inbred faces too. Dishnored got away with it because the flat texturing gave it a cartoon style.

I'm always curious what people mean when they say the lighting looks bad, it seems they're using the standard next-gen feature set (pbr, subsurface scattering) and they're probably facing the sun so it'd explain the yellow wash.

Technically they are downgrades because the engine can run it, in fact it just did ... they are just cut out because the requiments even on PC are too step, its just misleading because it can look like that, it just wont because to begin neither consoles can run it without crapping itself to 6 FPS and those tech demos are deliberate misleading.

Scam Citizen is already playable though, but if you don't like it, you may want to check the other games which using the 4th generation.

Of course there are pretty games, I just dont like using what is clearly marketing tech demos that arent a indication of the end result, Scam Citizen became most suspicious due to their constant delays and who can say if it will actually look like that, after all Star Marine was playable wasnt it? they demo it and suddenly was cut ... sorry, "delayed", I would not trust anything from them.

Personally I suspect they are just doing Prey because they were ordered, not because they want it so I dont think it should be much of a surprise their hearts are on it and that is why it looks like that, its something they have to do and not something they wanted to do.

The lighting's bad because the entire scene is awash in a piss-yellow glow as you've said. Horrible promotional shot.

Yup. Everything about it looks terribly uninspired.

If you dig through the thread you'll see that Arkane wanted to do their own System Shock 3 type game and the IP was there so they just used the Prey name for it.

Finally, official version. Still not the full Quakecon gameplay:

What awaits you aboard Talos I? See the newest gameplay teaser for Prey, revealed at QuakeCon 2016.

You are Morgan Yu, the subject of morally dubious experiments designed to improve the human race. You awaken aboard Talos I in the year 2032 and must uncover the secrets hiding in the depths of the space station while being hunted by the mysterious alien force that has taken over. You’ll have to rely on the tools you find on the station – along with your wits, weapons and mind-bending abilities – to combat the growing threat and, hopefully, survive.

That looks fucking awesome, except for the transforming into a coffee mug and then rolling around... i bet that gimmick will be used extensively :decline:

lol @ 0:50

I hope there's other ways to enter the room/be able to solve whatever problem that terminal solves in another way and it isn't just a way to justify the gimmick.

Later in the gameplay teaser, we see Morgan use another power he learned from the aliens: Mimic. Morgan needs to get into a locked area, but without a passcode the only way in is through a tiny window. Using Mimic, Morgan becomes a mug (yes, a mug) and rolls through the opening. To end the teaser, we see a snippet of Morgan exiting Talos I and drifting through space – yet another way to explore the fully contiguous space station.
