At the moment, Druids are probably the strongest damage dealers, although most of their whack comes from per-rest.

I was also thinking of doing a Rogue considering there are no Rogue companions.

I'm probably going to do a guns build or something.

I would suggest

Island Aumaua for the extra weapon set

Maximum Might and the rest in Dexterity (reload speed) and Intellect (for the duration of your special attacks)

Blinding Strike is a must. I would also pick Crippling Strike as well because then you have 3 special attacks every encounter from very early on.

I would also recommend Quick Switch and Arms Bearer if you're going to use guns, because you can quickly fire off three guns (or four guns, if you're an Island Aumaua)

Some talents to consider

Weapon Focus Adventurer for Arquebus, or Weapon Focus Ruffian for Blunderbusses (and Sabres)
Penetrating Shot (if you're going to be using Blunderbusses - I suggest getting Lead Spitter off Rumbald in the Dyrford because it rules)
Gunner (20% quicker reload speed)

Backstab combined with a high Stealth skill would also be really lols, if you get within 3 metres and then shoot someone with a Blinding Strike Blunderbuss shot at the start of combat for an instagib.

Does the melee rogue have any advantage compared to gunslinger?

I like dual wield Rogues, but I imagine you could probably do a good 2H build as well.

The reason I like Dual Wield Rogues is because many of their abilities use a "Full Attack", which makes an attack with both weapons with no recovery in between.

If you're gonna Dual Wield - make sure you go Two Weapon Style and Vulnerable Attack.

Has there been any statement from Obsidian or Paradox why they changed their recommended hardware specs so much between their website and Steam? When I supported them, my PC was supposed to be recommended, and now by Steam it is about minimum specs :(

Because the game does not run very well at the moment and they finally did hardware testing QA ?

They are going to optimize it further. I've been (hopefully) helping with my FPS troubleshooting videos.

"Pre-orders also include two special in-game items: a Giant Miniature Space Piglet companion who will accompany players through the world of Eora, and the Gaun’s Pledge ring, which provides powerful support to heroes in times of peril. Pillars of Eternity can be pre-ordered by visiting"

the same old marketing gimmicks

It's not free. You have to pay irl monies for it.

Strap Yourselves In Pathfinder: Wrath
As for priests: Interdiction causing mass weakness + rogues is fun.

In general priest is more of a debuffer than buffer.
I think priests also make good damage dealers with divine mark, the seals, and Shining Beacon. I cannot find the BB forum post, but Shining Beacon and Burning Seal do a decent amount of damage in addition to the debuffs/buffs.

Got bored and left

How about Barbarian and Monk (the other two classes without a companion, IIRC), are they any good? Any recommendations for character building?

Chanters have very good def and can be ok from the front but I tend to give them reach weapons and put beefier characters in front of them. Barbarians and monks are also good. Pretty much all classes are worthwhile additions to the party.

Since people is asking about builds, how about Chanters? Can you turn them into competent fighters?
You can do anything with them since their chanting happens independent of what you're doing in combat. Though I'd advise pumping INT so you can have 2 phrases active at the same time continuously.

Why is costitution recomended for chanters? it seems like a figher\tank stat
Because everyone at Obsidian sucks at the game. They use abilities that boost disengagement defense unironically. :M

For a monk, I suggest a fire god-like. Monks need to get hit to use their powers and fire god-like have a mini fire shield for their racial ability that triggers when under 50% endurance. By itself it does a miniscule amount of damage, but it stacks with other boosts and the results can be quite devastating.

Man it is not often i do not know what to play because the concepts are actually interesting.

Normally i go Warrior, but the Chanter looks interesting and i also like the visual of the Wizzards grimoure.

Because a crazed Chanter who sings and chants in your face is freaking terrifying?

EDIT: Probably not but I can't stop laughing at this concept xD
