So is it true that the game doesn't even bother to...
Have a concrete culprit for the murder that the PC investigates? Basically you can condemn anybody, but it's just a matter of opinion and you as the player can't know who the real murderer was within the story.

If that's the case, then truly this game is irremediable garbage.
heh...let's not pretend Obsidian is beyond selling Complete Ending DLC™ at this point.

It's not even a detective game, and this is only stated... on SA? What a turd.

Not just: https://www.thegamer.com/interview-obsidian-josh-sawyer-pentiment/

A historical murder mystery is certainly an intriguing and unique premise for a video game. But how much of a detective game will Pentiment be? I saw someone on Twitter describe it as 'medieval L.A. Noire' and I'm wondering how accurate that is, if at all. "I wouldn't say it's a detective game," says Sawyer. "There is a murder mystery at the heart of it, but I keep saying it's a narrative adventure to draw a distinction between the two. We don't have hardcore detective mechanics. There are no logic puzzles involving excluding people or confirming alibis. We actually did do that in a prototype, but it wasn't what we wanted."

The visual style is simply terrible, the more screens I see the more I screech. Medieval art under a tumblrette's lens.

Despite annoyances, I'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. Yes, the woke stuff feels shoehorned in in that special Californian way. And while I know this was hardly made for PC, the whole way in which you move about just feels annoying and clunky.

But, the story and characters are pretty nice I think. Aside from the wokeness present here and there, the tone of it all is nice and I'm pretty invested in the story as a whole. Visuals and (especially) music is good. The light roleplaying of it is nice. To me it feels a lot like something Inkle would make, sort of slightly reminiscant of Heaven't Vault (wokeness included). As far as "narrative adventure" goes (whatever that means), you could definitely do worse. And definitely inspired by The Name of the Rose.

After The Outer Worlds (last Obsidian game I played), I'm liking this a whole lot more overall. Though yep, you definitely have to set your expectations a bit. It's more like a visual novel or something.

Everything seem to feel at least "rather ok" after The Outer Worlds
