Overpowered Bloodlines builds

I've completed this game twice: Once as a gangrel, focusing mostly on sneaking and unarmed, and once as a toreador that ended up a decent melee fighter, alright at picking looks, very stealthy and very persuasive.

I quickly realised that both these builds felt ridiculously overpowered, the only difficult fights in the game were the Hengeyokai and the crazed infected shotgun-wielding vampire guy. I just massacred everything else, especially when my toreador maxed celerity out.

Are all builds like this? Are there any reasons at all to focus on skills like seduction and haggle?

EDIT: In before people start recommending malkavian

Malk IS powerful.
The best disciplines are Obfuscate, Animalism and Dementation imo. Malk has 2 of them.
Nossie who has Obfuscate & Animalism might be even better but misses out on the dialogue opportunities Dementation offers.

OFCOURSE NOT I MEAN HOW CAN YOU FIGHT WITH DAT SKILLS Y THE HELL THEY EVEN IN THIS FUCKIN GAEM DUH

But really, though? The game is ridiculously combat-centered, I've got some trouble imagining a diplomatic character surviving the end which is all fight fight fight (or sneak sneak sneak BOSS FIGHT!) without a million reloads.

Uh, I played a Nosferatu with Potence, Obfuscate, and points in Meelee and Stealth.

Meaning that if I had a garden hook, if I were crouched, and if I were obfuscated, it would take on single blow to kill a vampire. I recall that the damage went into three digits. I don't mean insta-stealth kills, but just frontal attacks.

Vampires can detect stealthed characters, they can also detect obfuscated characters, but they can't detect characters who have a high level of both, so even they are easy prey to a Nosferatu.

Your ignore list.
Malk with Obfuscate and stealth. Yes, they complement each other, and you can only sneak at the sewers with stealth. You play slower than usual since you're attacking one foe at a time, however each attack is a insta-kill. Hardest fight will probably be the Sheriff.

Seduction gets you free blood from bars and nightclubs where no one will mind if you embrace someone. Blood is not hard to get.

Haggle gets you hardware cheap, which is important when you want enough flamethrower ammunition to kill the German vampire hunter, the Tzimisce, and all the final bosses.

Tremere is probably the best ranged oriented vampire. Thaumaturgy is great and domination is great too, just alternate between blood missiles, mass blood missiles, suicide and blood explosion to dispatch every mob of enemies quickly and without losing much blood.

And with auspex You can also own in ranged combat.

For mellee take anything with potency and celerity, gangrel is nice too with warform. But still I prefer instakills and ranged combat since it is easier.

But honestly Bloodlines is easy as it is.

The only time I actually needed the flamethrower was when fighting Ming-Xiao, though, and I had a ridiculous amount of cash, since I my character focused on melee.

How much of a difference does haggle make?

Played a Ventrue focusing on melee, never maxed out either discipline, can't remember anybody piecring through my level 4 Fortitude (except Ming Xiao and the Sheriff).

:sigh: I'm one of the biggest VtMB fan, but threads like this is the reason why i stopped posting in GRPGD

He meant to ask if they are used enough to bother with them, or if you get two opportunities to use seduce and there isn't a build who eats enough money to make haggle useful, not "lol combat is funner anyways"

OP says he was decent at fighting, stealth, picking locks and very good at persuasion. And fight still ended up easy. So, he wants to know if fousing only on non combat skills help with the difficulty

whatchu talkin' about?

I'm-a asking-a if that's-a true-a or bullshit-a. Are haggle-a and seduction-a massively underused-a?

you tell me-a

Yeah, reading more than the topic title sometimes helps.

Ok, Ch1ef.

Anyway, I'll probably play as a Malkavian next. It seems the most interesting options will come from their Dementation ability.

The most difficult clan to play as is probably Toreador. Ventrue doesn't sound hard to play as since they get the domination discipline. I have only played the game as Tremere and Malkavian though so I don't know.

Try pop's difficulty mod. It will make you feel like the puny fledgeling you are. Ming Xiao destroyed me. I managed to kill her after I used almost all my ammo and bloodbags. It took me about 30 minutes.

Really? Because everything's still ridiculously easy if you just focus on Celerity.

even with pops difficulty mod animalsim & dementation will rock (in fact their impact is even increased, and you'll need it)
