Oh well, since we decided to welcome the fanatic fire-mage, might as well embrace the madness (if not, what was the point?).

I don't know if leaving the choices open to suggestions on a regular basis is a good idea for the reason you already mentioned (also, votes could become too spread around). I like it as an occasional one-off item, but this seems too much.

As I said, if you don't like it I'll just scrap it and go back to what I've done so far. I saw it on Vernydar's thread and liked the idea so shamelessly copied it, but if the audience says 'boo' I have no problem saying I took a blow to the head and act like I never attempted it. :P

Send the Wielder.
But send along a rather big giftbag, showing what they have to win if they team up.
We are rather wealthy after all.
Might also reduce the risk of them being fried due to saying "no".

Seing as there is another option D now and nobody else is feeling like sending a giftbag:

Well, on my thread up to now it's working. But my thread is less prone to metagaming due to the type of game it is. No technological choices or things like that. Just don't blame me if it backfires

Undecided about what to vote.

I want to know more about these guys before committing to befriending them (A) or slaughtering them (C)

C, integrate them in our tribe, to add to our numbers, technology and possible steps towards polytheism.

Edit: Those people said, they are the survivors of attacks by a tribe of feral humans. Surely the powers of the wielder will ensure them that they will be safe from such a tribe under our wise leadership.

Who said anything about slaughter? They seem like reasonable men, I'm sure they will see the obvious glory of The Flame. If not...well we don't want that kind of decline infesting our tribe anyway.

Vernydar I don't see C as "slaughter", more like "impress the weaklings with our magic and make them bow to us". Though it may result in a mess since the fire guy (should we give him a name?) doesn't sound very stable.

Although the best use of the fire wielder would be to track down the barbarians and unleash some flame on them, as the rest of the tribe are quite capable of assimilating part-time fishermen and sheep shaggers. But for now, let's deal with these first.

Which is precisely my point. If they do not bow down to us, we will get a report that they attacked us! The vile scum! And so, the wielder of fire had NO CHOICE but to kill them all.

This tribe is minimal and survivors from an onslaught. Showing that we can and will protect them will make befriending them easier, but much more importantly it will be a good test of the Fire Wielder; see if he lives up to his word. He says he will get them to join us, not that they will be enslaved by us. If he goes there and goes batshit crazy with power on their asses, then we can count him a danger to us, if he sticks to his word, then perhaps we're one step closer to trusting him.

If he fucks it up then whatever, it's some crappy half destroyed tribe across the waters. Big loss. We'll lose having them join us, but we'll know more about the keeper.
I say it's better to test him on the small fries to see how he acts, than to risk it when there's higher stakes.

Edit: We could always go D, send a delegation headed by the Fire Wielder with the stealthy scouts tracking them to see what they do if we're worried about what a false account.

I know, but I feel like chaos was already ensured when the tribe greeted the fanatic back. If it's gonna happen one way or another, we might as well give the dude a chance to vent his rage on foreigners rather than the water shaman cause trouble at home.

C, but I agree with Hirato that bringing one of the water worshippers along would be a good idea.

A. They might undestand water shaman best since they are living by the water.

D.

If you're going to do C, why not do D? (Note for curufinwe: that's the danger with open votes. I don't mind too much, but I think closed voting works better.) As mentioned already, this little half-destroyed tribe, at least by their own tale, gives us a low-cost opportunity to see the fire wielder at work, and an easy way to appease the wielder's own desires. Perhaps, even, the stealthy scouts could go ahead of the wielder to find out what info they can before the wielder potentially destroys all?

I want to give him the benefit of doubt, we can at least see some of his true colors & sanity. If he fails / slaughter everyone, this can be used as a ground to reject his opinion in the next few turns.

True. It's a good move politically. If he brings them in peacefully, shows them that the might of the Holy Fire can protect them, we can then start trusting him more and we have a bunch of refugees that can aid us in battle. If he torches the place, then people will be convinced he's bad news and we'll have a handy excuse to ignore him for the next while. And if it turns out that the people in the boat were actually deceiving us and are part of the barbarian tribe we've kept hearing about, we can commend him on a job well done. Win-win any way you slice it.

I am on the fence about tailing him with a scout expedition. Isn't that why we have two moderate, tolerant Keepers of Fire as his trainees? Precisely so that we have someone who isn't a batshit insane fanatic to keep an eye on him?

Sending a scout party sounds good, at least they can give a more objective recollection of the diplomatic mission. And while he's gone, we can have a nice chat with his disciples on the teachings.

Well looks like the guy wasn't as crazy as I feared he'd be.That's good. We'll go with C for this one to give him a chance to prove himself, but I must say this for further updates: Don't make it a habit to go with the Wielder every choice, he'll just feel more and more... entitled. We don't want no entitlement fags.

The next time we can say something like the tribe seems dangerous & he is an asset of our tribe, so maybe it's better to send a scout party first, or something along that line

He was raving about conquest and roaring "Join me! And we shall rule this galaxy together!", and was suddenly silenced by a token council position and a couple of trainees? Sigh...
There really are no bad choices, are there.
No matter...

C. Might as well see the depths of his madness.
