But the cryptic trolls of the old are easily ignored! I read old posts, you know.Guess you arrived after "no-button Codex"...In a no-button Codex the cryptic troll would look like a fool, but here I was basically deprived of discussions.

Meet Buttons the cat!
I immediately thought of the inhabitants of a distant planet called Butt.Strongly agree, fuck buttans.
Can button notifications exist without buttons? Where would button notifications be without the buttons themselves? Isn't the notification an inherent part of the button process? These are deep questions that need to be pondered. If a user can't press a button but receives a notification that someone else has buttoned them, what kind of thought process does the recipient go through? Is it one of joy and delight? Or is their user experience disenhanced by this unreciprocal engagement? Are these experiences key to the button experience or can they simply be turned off? I cannot say. Only wiser heads than mine who have looked deeply into button research could.I think you shouldn't get access to buttons until after you've been registered for at least 12 months.people would care less about buttons if button notifications were disabled by default
DarkUnderlord What do you think?
This isn't about the buttons themselves though, but button notifications - the alerts you get when your post gets rated. Chasing you across the site even when you're not looking at that thread anymore. The argument is that if people didn't get those by default, their posts might be better.

Disabling "Brofisted your message" in Alert Preferences has alleviated the issue for me. Many years ago I scanned this section of the preferences, and promptly forgot about it, because who doesn't like getting brofists? I had forgotten this was an option.
I don't really think hiding notifications will have any impact.
Bring notifications back. People just need to deal with it tbh
Button reactions always will beat the one word "this" responses we used to get
