True dat, but engineering slots are tight and there are more important things to slot before putting a second evasive maneuvers in.

And that captain had already good resists to begin with, considering that he flies basically a large shuttle and after getting pummeled by a Romulard his shields were still at 80ish percent. :hahano:

anyone have a fleet my alts can join so I can do the dilithium mine assignments on them? :M
You can join the Codex fleet, yes. I can shoot you an invite if you give me the character name of an alt (invites can be sent even if you're offline, and will pop up when you relog).
Pylon 0A
I logged out and can't remember my @ handle, you probably have it on your friends list though.
Did you want me to list all my alts or just one so I can invite the rest myself?

I am going to make a small review of the Legendary ships.

Legendary Galaxy.
Its a boring upgrade to the T6 Galaxy that itself is a very boring cruiser, its not the worst but its boring.

Legendary Oddy.
Same as a Tac Oddy with a weirder layout and also a strait upgrade to be a full Command ship with ONE Command station ... and a hangar slapped on it and can use dual cannons in case you want to do that.

Legendary Warship Voyager
What the fuck? whats this? MW science ship and pilot? Hangar? WHAT?
Weird ship, no idea what the hell is this ... more to the point, it have a 6th Science console and lack of actual tactical abilities that means this is a weird as hell science ship having perhaps the STRONGEST of console layouts but being stuck with plain science to use ... I guess you can slot wierd crap like destabilize warp core for fun and giggles.

Legendary NX.
As the Galaxy is boring, the NX is a "Temporal escort" meaning its crap at being a escort and its crap at being a temporal ship, there are major defects with this ship as it cannot function properly as a escort or can even function as a hald assed science ship.

Legendary Kelvin Connie.
This is a solid battlecruiser, 5/3 so already gets into the big boys club with 4 tactical consoles meaning as a cruiser its on the "not missing a slot or two" club and the layout is solid ... this is actually a good ship with a clear idea of what it wants to do and be able to do it.

Legendary Sovy.
This is a strait upgrade over the Sovy ... full MW, 4 tactical consoles + 1, eng/pilot along a non-self defeating BO layout that makes it a very capable ship on its own and like the Kelvin Connie doesnt have the NX identity crisis so you know what to do with it.

Legendary Sisko Pimping Hand.
Like the Legendary Sovy was a strait upgrade, the Chad Warship Defiant is a strait upgrade over the Virgin Escort Defiant ... full Pilot that granted aint much but at least its not self-defeating Temporal and Pilot Maneuvers are still good, the layout is also pretty strait over what you do with it, loses the Experimental Weapon slot and gains a extra forward weapon slot (4/3/1 to 5/3) that is not exactly much of a loss with Experimental Weapon being the mixed bag they are.

Legendary Crossfield.
This is a very simple ship, do you like SciTorp? This is the SciTorp ship doing everything a SciTorp should do ... CF3, full Temporal so that sweet aux configuration for more exotic damage. Its a upgrade over its Lock Box counterpart since Temporal is better that Intel and all its specialization stations get a +1 so full Temporal and Lt Cmdr Command over Lt. Cmdr Intel and Lt. Temporal. One of the best ships in the game that can go to a rather specific role without being stuck with a drawback .

Legendary Connie.
This ship sells the pack period. Its The Connie, not the bloodly B,C,D,E or F and not the J ... the original, Kirk's ship.
But how worst is it compared with the Promo version? Well ... Its full MW so a extra console slot instead of Temporal thats not really useful for a cruiser and MW abilities are also better, they are VERY similar with the following differences ... It have +10 power to Weapons/Shields/Engines vs +5 to all so better that the Promo, now instead of having Lt Cmdr Tac/Cmdr Eng/Lt. Cmdr Uni x2 with the Cmdr being Temporal and one of the Uni being Command it have Lt. Tac/Cmdr Eng/Lt Eng/Lt Sci/Lt Cmdr Uni with the Eng stations being MW so no dual spec ... and this is wierd to say but I think its slighglty better because overall you end up using that Uni as Tac and the MW abilities are going to work rather well and another thing, its 4 stations vs 5 and that extra Bridge Officer could have traits that overall closes the gap in performance even closer, the other two differences is turn rate being slightly less (10 vs 11.5) and 4/4 vs 5/3.
Its close, its damn close ... MW offsets so much and if not for that 5/3 I would even say the Legendary would be better but 4/4 hold her back to the point I say its close ... real close and MW still makes the ship better simply because Temporal aint for cruisers and Command simply doesnt offer much, granted it can use stuff like CF3 but MW can do so much.

Legendary Donnie.
Remember what I said about the NX? apply it to Cruisers and thats it ... unlike the Connie were its close, in this case this ship is flat out worst entirely.
The layout is worst because Promo have a Lt Cmdr Tac, this have a Lt Tac meaning you know what you going to use your Lt Cmdr Unt/Temporal for and that leaves a Ensign uni for your second Eng station as the Promo have to use its Uni for Sci since their only Sci station is Ensign its not as if they cannot use it their Lt Cmdr for PO, I suppose people can argue that the decisions are in reverse in terms of cooldown management but quite frankly you get a worst way to do it on the Legendary Donnie that in the Promo and thats not even considering one is Temporal as the other is MW/Command ... oh but it doesnt end here.
As the Connie gets very close stats wise with 4/4 being the biggest downgrade, in the Donnie case to start with the good news ... it have 1.3 vs 1.25 Shield Modifier and that is the good news, worst turn (7 vs 9) as well lower inertia (35 vs 40) and lower impulse (0.16 vs 0.18), console slots is about the same as since its Temporal and not MW so no extra console slot as other wise its same Tactical slots (3 so its not complete crap but then again, its almost complete crap) with 4 eng and 4 sci vs 5 eng and 3 sci with that meaning it gains a whole extra sci console to be slightly better at failing to be a science ship.

I know I didnt talk about the NX much but that is because one look and you know that those Temporal stations are crap and the NX does have other issues (its BO layout is utter crap) but if you look at its Lobi variant you notice you at least get a full Temporal ship instead of a Not-Pilot/Not-Temporal ship, its a "upgrade" that is simply bad because the ship suffers for it, you really have to work around it but its possible even if its not going to be at the same level as other ships in the pack, also I didnt talk much about the Sovy, Konnie, Defiant and Crossfield but that is because they are very solid ships offering more or less a clear idea of what to do with then, basically they dont really have pitfalls and I didnt compare the two Kelvins because they are actually very different ships in their roles despite being cruisers with one having less hull and shields but more turn, impulse and inertia to the point its not a upgrade/downgrade in the sense the other Connies are, Galaxy and Oddy are simply basic upgrades to the point its like their base ships with full command with Warship Voyager just being ... really fucking weird to the point I just write it off as "science ship with 6 science consoles" because I have no idea what the hell to do it with, at least its not like the NX and Donnie were I just shake my head and ask "why?" with the Donnie being so much worst that makes me wonder how the Connie actually passed with so slight downgrades compared.

Overall ... I say this, Legendary Connie does sell the pack since its one of the if not the most recognizable ship and its actually not strait inferior to its promo version, might be slightly worst or slightly better but they are close and then you have other well performing hero ships such as the Defiant were they pretty much given her what people wanted it to have (5/3 and Pilot Maneuvers) or the Konnie that ends up being a very different ship that its counterpart with the boring upgrade of the Galaxy and Oddy as the NX being a "upgrade downgrade" with the Donnie is flat out worst being simply a "flight deck cruiser", its not the best value for money on the game but I am sure they knew if they put the Connie on the C-Store even if it had the "Legendary Donnie stats" (and it doesnt) it would sell, if you are a Discovery fan at least you have a actual upgrade on the CRossfield over its Lock Box version so you dont have to deal with the Donnie idiotic stats and if you are a Enterprise fan you kinda fucked since the NX requires work to get it to work even as a escort with its stupid Sci heavy layout, TNG are still stuck with the Galaxy being a boring cruiser but at least you can BUILD a boring cruiser and everyone else gets better version of their ships besides the Kelvin Timeline were you get something different but still solid thanks to its 5/3 layout or in the case of Voyager fans you get a really ass weird ship that I cannot even tell if its good or not, then again its not like the Pathfinder was particular good being about as old as first T6 ships and you can do wierd shit with it unlike the NX that can only fail at being a Temporal ship.

at least its not self-defeating Temporal
Tell me about it. When I undusted my Discotoon, one of the abilities had reverted to the BOFF'S default. Several deaths later and wondering how a bunch of Nazicoons manage to bring me to 65% hull without even firing a shot, I realized the problem. Stupid temp abilities all look the same.

Experimental Weapon being the mixed bag they are.

Temporal abilities are great on Science ships because they scale with EPG, Control and/or Drain so you can run then along a Sci build that makes then great due to having the same skills scaling as Science abilities.
They are terrible on everything else because they scale with EPG, Control and/or Drain, none really offer a replacement to Tac or Eng abilities and worst, they need to work in pairs ... take Casual Reversion, its a heal but it also scales based on enemies affected with Entropy stacks.

Problem is this, most of then have power requirement and simply arent as good as slapping a DHC or DC since those will be affected by firing modes as the experimental weapon is only affected by general damage buffs.
This is why its not a great loss for the Legendary Defiant since a extra forward weapon slot is better.

Stop that! :argh:

No, I am not going to call it a Connie because its not a Connie like the Konnie is not a Connie.

It's a heal. That's what matters. All active-click heals are pissweak and slow compared to passive proc heals, the real reason you have them is to proc abilities that trigger on heal. How much heal you get is largely immaterial.

Well I guess it can be better spamned that HE to trigger procs, I guess it works as HE replacer since does the same thing more or less and its more spamnable.

I still dont like Temporal outside science ships since in science ships you end up with redundant abilities slots that cannot really used because they are either bad scaling (Drain in a EPG build), share cooldown so you never get then to work (anything that is Deflector and there are a lot of then) or because they are kinda shit (confuse abilities) and I know this is a broad generalization and there are reasons to use certain abilities even if not exactly good because of procs but when I look at the NX and Donnie I just ... dont want to do anything with then because I dont see weapon enhancement abilities, I dont see firing modes, I dont see haste ... I dont see anything I would put on a escort or cruiser, maybe I am wrong but I simply dont see how you can actually use those stations as anything but a bog standard station, hell the Warship Voyager is weird but its specializations dont break the ship as you can run Pilot for funnies without sacrificing the ship basic functionality as a science ship, its never going to be a Warship with Lt being the highest tac station you can ever get but you can put APL and even RRtW not even counting MW abilities, its a weird ship but its not stuck being what its not unlike the NX and Donnie that have a BO layout that simply isnt good for their ship type, being Temporal is just making the bad layout completely irredeemable.

The Promo Connie have Temporal specialization but at least it have a very flexible layout, you can work along with it as the NX and Donnie layouts have strong flaws and neither will ever be a Science ship and since Cryptic loves to nerf science, the days of the Lt. Cmdr Sci being good on a escort because GW are long gone ... you cannot really make then what they are not because Cryptic made it that unless you go all in, all you are is being mediocre and better just Steelmax and this is what damn this ships, their seating is bad and its not even like the Sovy or Voyager that you get 2 specializations so you can do weird shit, these are Temporal ships and you can only fail at being a science ship like those Lt Cmdr Science cruisers and escorts that are better off just using PO or a science ability to proc something, its too many science stations for those ships that dont need then and have shortcomings on their layout.

If the Donnie had MW as a Lt. Cmdr I would revise my opinion since then I would have something I could work with and make it at least functional ... as it stands, I think the Tellarite flight deck cruiser is better because at least I know what to do with it despite its problems in the BO layout and the real kicker on this whole thing is, you dont just pick this ship and be done with it ... you have to get all 10 ships and you have far superior options in terms of escorts, cruisers and science ships as sure you can fly the Donnie but you have the Connie thats better and you have the Glenn that is better, then Enterprise fans get worst because the NX have a lot of problems and as much I rag on the Donnie, the NX is on a worst shape because its too tac heavy, too sci heavy and too eng low and sure its "workable" but then again, not many ships in the game are in a state that you cannot use then properly in some way.

I am sorry but I am NOT going to buy a Lobi ship just to get a better PO because thats all you going to use it for, PO3.

GW pull got nerfed back in the last "balance" session, even if you can pull off that Spore GW that requires spam science and intel abilities meaning you need a Intel ship as otherwise the cycling spam aint enough and this is the point where I reached what the hell do you even slot on a Lt. Cmdr science station because anything else doesnt need such a high station.

Also does a escort with Cmdr and Lt Cmdr Tac needs PO? You are already running duplicates because there is nothing else you going to slot because either interferes with your abilities due to share cooldown or its useless, the issue with then comes when you throw too much Tac and too much Sci without any real Eng making running a A2B build rather risky and in the Legendary NX you have Cmdr Tac/Lt. Cmdr Tac/Lt. Cmdr Sci/Lt. Eng/Ensign Uni so at best you have 3 Eng abilities with a high amount of Tac and a high Sci station, what the hell do you use that Lt. Cmdr Sci station for? PO is not needed because high Tac already going to make your abilities being close to their minimum timers, I really do not see much point on that Lt. Cmdr Sci station.

As long as you picked the 100 particool generator skill, grabbity well 1 is... okayish. Not as great years ago, probably what Drakron is referring to, when GW1 was already enough to suck the vacuum out of space.

Yet, nothing is more depressing than watching some pro sucking everything out of your well you were mighty proud of with his overpowered 500+ PG grav well half across the map. Sad.

You don't need to suck that much, just enough to bring your enemies under your guns.

I was, there were many escorts that use GW1 for its pull but with the "balance" suddenly you had to put larger investment in control to get the same pull that before. This affected GW in general but if I recall GW1 was particular nerfed because it was "overperforming" ... I wonder how that balance patch performed considering a lot of players suddenly walked out ...

But yes, GW1 in the Lt. Cmdr escorts used to be a thing, you can now use PO to lower timers or some heal to proc competitive engines so there is still use for it but science heavy escorts are not what they used to be as you kinda better off with Eng heavy ones a lot because Cold Hearted.

who remembers 1.0 skills? they were all great, some even greater than great, and in the name of pvp everything has been neutered. because pvp was the reason people played the game. it still shows how the pvp community rules, because everybody was kung-pvp fighting.

PvP ends up ruining nearly every MMO/online game with PvE.
People who take PvP seriously in MMORPGs ruin them with "muh balance". After a few rounds of the nerf-bat every class is essentially identical with different colors. Perfectly balanced.
Warframe(while not quite an MMORPG, it really teeters on the edge) is fun because nearly each frame is ridiculous in some way. If warframe's pvp was taken seriously by more than 10 people it would probably turn into a boring FPS with bad itemization and bland 'classes'(frames.) Hey, I just described Destiny 2.

KDF was the same except with KDF ships and you can see the problem with this tree cant you? I give a hint ... you spec'ed into a specific ship and considering how STO model ended being pushing more and more and more ships out even before F2P ...

Nerfs happened without then redoing the skill tree, in fact the last "rebalance" didnt touched the skill tree itself outside a few things but fucked up how powers themselves scaled leading to a situation were build diversity that existed was curled because a certain system lead thinks everyone have to run ultra specialized builds but he is the kind of special needs person that creates a ability WITH A DOWNSIDE and gets surprised NOBODY RUNS IT!

I am not saying they arent retarded and they dont sell power because my rant on the Legendary Donnie is how much of a downgrade it is from its Promo version (even if I would say the same without the promo version existence) and they certainly been selling power on their promo ships but at the same time, its not as if all versions of the game dont have more of their fair share of idiocy, version 1.0 was stupid because it never accounted for adding new ships.

Then it wouldn't be like this. STO is MMO-itis pure and simple. If you want a Star Trek game that isn't an MMO, go play Bridge Commander or Starfreak Command.

I'd really love to play a game like this, but without all the MMO crap...
STO is similar to SWTOR as you can treat it mostly like a solo game. You only need to group with filthy casual pugs for STFs, if you even want to do those. Otherwise, the only time you have to endure seeing them is in the social zones.

IIRC this weekend is even double XP? Best opportunity to roll a toon and just play through those very numerous missions now. No money invested, a few hours of FUN gained. Because FUN is good, amirite Norfleet?

No, I don't know why so many people think it's double XP, the calendar has not changed and has been unambiguously clear that this is Exocomp Event the entire time.

Cryptic copy/pasted the wrong news again, launcher or landing showed double xp weekend instead of exocomp grab weekend.

Reminds me Cryptic still owes me "T'ress". All those years and they have neither placed the NPC to claim her, nor removed the quest from the game. :argh:
