Yeah, the politically correct goons basically exile their non-PC brethren from the forums, sending them to troll MMOs for the greater glory of SA.
So, let see if I got this right: SA is for the Goonswarm what Terra Arcanum was for the RPG Codex?

I don't think they will read much the forums to look for ideas for their game, they do have a great developer team of professionals that know what they are doing...

I hope.

I'm pretty sure they're reading, not just their forums but also others. Including the Codex.

I remember in eve some player had his son crushed by a truck in real life , the goons proceeded to post ascii trucks "pwned" in local when the guy was there. Now you tell me they are offended by our little jew troll ? You gotta be kidding, or the goons really evolved into something else, i never thought of them as defenders of politically correct.

I kinda doubt that they read their own forums or the Codex that much, given that they are near permanently offline.

EDIT: edited for readily demonstrated accuracy

I find the contrast between the SA and RPGcodex fascinating. I also find it interesting that the SA users think of themselves as so politically correct when they find so many things "strange" and "freaky".

"Lets leave out the tedious stuff that many people find boring/frustrating. Regenerating health/mana/spells - I prefer this type, there should still be potions/magic to heal and help things along but having to run to an inn to heal/regenerate mana is tedious and boring. Then you go out and five minutes you have to come back and rest again."

"And no one wants them to do a science-fiction RPG because.... Mass Effect exists."

"I do not like game play artifacts like the 'Spirit Eater' in MoTB. That stuff interferes negatively with the adventuring experience."

"Oh, and another annoying thing is permenant party death, its not fun having a party member down and having to bring a reserection potion to bring them back, knock them out and as long as one member is alive at the end of the fight, bring them all back. It is ONE thing I think DA2 did right."

"Yeah, Skyrim = Empty, soulless and boring world, boring fetch quests and a terrible story. bla bla bla. "
Really? The problem is the story, not the implementation? A Northern Frozen Land where a long-dead group of heroes lost their lives saving their country from a war against humanity waged by dragons ended the war through magic with unforeseen consequences which has led to to one of the demigod dragons to appear in the present and wage a new war against humanity. That's a bad story?"

"Whats the problem with realtime? Quite often in rpg:s you find yourself fighting trashmobs or being overpowered. In situation like that it would be tedious to fight turnbased every time. It sucks and are no fun at all. In BG i saved the turnbased for more challenging fights that needed more tactic to win and blaste through trashmobs in realtime. That system was perfect. Some of us want to move on in the story in a decent pace. A too combat system game is no fun at all because it breaks immersion and you loose track of the rpg element that should be the focus of the gaming experience."

Bottom line: if you can make fun of yourself and be happy about it, you won't be bothered by them. On the other hand, if they bother you on their own, even without context, it means it's you who is having a problem with creating "racist" narrative around them.

You get that and I get that...but you have to admit most outsiders would have no way of getting that. Especially when there are members here who aren't just trolling or taking the piss. That said, I'd rather the bigots announce their bigotry than hide it. Gotta be who you are, y'know?

p.s. I'm not defending the SA goons...they sound like dunces.

Oh for God's sake. Luckily I doubt anybody is paying much attention to those. Forums are where it's at. Once they start up a dedicated Game Mechanics forum on the Obsidian boards, we have to assume control with extreme prejudice.

Should we care? Should the outsider care? I have had to both shrug off insults (although it is admittedly worse irl, but it's the internet ffs) and laugh at myself because of things said on the internet. Why must PC exist on the internet?

The biggest arseholes on the internet, and in the work place, are always those guys that refuse to laugh at themselves. The world could do with more self-deprecation.

I have serious doubts that Obsidian would let themselves flow dead with the stream.
After all, didn't Sawyer release his own mod to fix NV?

Anyway, not all is bad.

*@azriel "its not fun having a party member down and having to bring a resurrection potion to bring them back"
Yeah, and let the enemies just kill themselves in terror whey they see you coming.
Because having to play a game it's so "not fun"...*

*Regenerating health/mana/spells - Bad idea. Yeah, more fun blah blah blah. And turn the combats into meaningless. Combat should be punishing, not a joke. If you go unprepared to a dungeon, combats should force you to fall back. You have to control better your tactics, your resources,...
Hunger/tired/sickness - Hunger isn't usually done well. The fact that people don't want developers to try to do a good system, don't allow them to actually succed at it. In games like Eye of the Beholder it became meaningless once you had Create Food spell. :P Tire and sick are ok. If you don't take care of your group, it should suffer from it.*

*Skyrim isn't an RPG, it's a hack & slash with an inventory system.... btw. the inventory system is atrocious too. The hardest thing in that game is your constant battle with the inventory system. ^^*

*Skyrim is a weird game. In character creation you can change the minutest details like making your Nord's cheekman just that one centimeter higher. And yet you DON'T get to roll stats, and you don't get a certain amount of points to assign to certain skills based on your class, like in every RPG of note.
I think I've come to the conclusion that Skyrim isn't about roleplaying, it's about simulation. Everything in the game is purely cosmetic. It's the digital form of Live Action Role Play, go and play Dress Up as the Dragonborn in his new house with adopted children, cows, and that Bard chick he got for 100 septims.
Fricken hell*

*I think games require challenge. You should need to rest to heal. You should have to worry about poison and disease. Frankly, to those that don't like those things, there are plenty of new games that don't have them. Giving ground to the folks who wish to make games overly "accessible" is what has led modern rpgs to be so different from those of the past. From what I have heard, this is supposed to be a hearkening back to crpgs of late 90s. As such, it should mirror not only the basics of the gameplay but also its details. Those that dont want a classic rpg should not be backing a classic rpg.*

*And no autoresurrection please, that makes your head dizzy and your balls shrink.*

Why am I reading this topic? It just makes me sad, angry, depressed and fucking raged. I hope Obsidian knows what fans should they listen to.

That's disingenuous. I don't know what qualifies as a classic RPG these days, but to me Ultima is pretty classic. Ultima was an explorefaggotry game, much like TES of the modern day, and the last thing you need is to get bogged down with character limitations. Not that I'm arguing against what this guy is saying, but his wording makes his statement fallacious at best.

Seriously, I was critically hit in my IQ, average as it is already, for massive damage, spelling and grammar mistakes notwithstanding. If they want a BioWare game, why don't they petition BioWare or wait for Dragon Age 300 to come out? I also don't recall Baldur's Gate even having a turn-based mode. Did they even PLAY Baldur's Gate or watch youtube Let's Play videos?

Only one thing left to do:

Wait, what? How so? (also: "fauxgressive"? "testerical"? Really?)

Should we care? Should the outsider care?

No, I'm agreeing with Mrowak's sentiment. Was just playing devil's advocate and saying it's not a surprise outsiders would react to the un-pc-ness which can be seen here oftentimes.

Because they want every game to be a Bioware game? They do not now any better, the poor sods.
