Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Looking at the IGN video, why is the barbarian only fighting 1 character at a time? I thought they were best used versus many enemies at once. Not that it matters to me as I will have no barbarian in my party.

"DOS is definitely classy."

How does a game become classy? DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.

I was ironically referring to the Codex, not the game. Somebody should use their brain from time to time.

"When creatures are placed in a level, they have checkboxes for each of the three base difficulties: Easy, Normal, Hard. A creature marked as Easy, Normal will only appear when the difficulty is Easy or Normal and not at all when the difficulty is set to Hard. A creature marked as Hard will only appear on Hard.

The exception is Path of the Damned. When this mode is enabled, all creatures are present, regardless of their level of difficulty settings. So using the previous example, both creatures would be present on PotD even though they would not be concurrently present on any other level of difficulty." -J.E. Sawyer

"For people who are concerned about spoilers, the Backer Beta will feature a number of areas near the middle of the game that do not have strong connections (if any) to the critical path. In addition to the characters you create, we are also likely to feature a roster of pre-made characters who are not companions. We don't have any interest in using the Backer Beta to give out story info. We'd much rather have people play it and throttle the mechanics, UI, etc. so we can make fixes and adjustments." - J.E. Sawyer

"No. Maybe KOTOR but KOTOR combat sucks so that's not a high bar."
NWN2 and DA are terrible when it comes to movement and responsiveness though to its credit DA>NWN2.

If not for some movement oddities here and there and the current lack of promised DA-style-blood-splatter-on-hits, I'd consider this better than the IE games, especially when it comes to how information is presented. I'm sure it'll be fine by release.

Because he is a level 1 doofus with no sweet powers yet.
Carnage, the melee aoe, is a passive thing.

Josh-posts, spoiler alert:
all of the skills and attributes wind up being used in conversations and scripted interactions. scripted interactions tend to feature the more physical elements like strength, constitution, dexterity, athletics, and survival

there's a cool scripted interaction in where if party members are a bunch of unathletic klutzes they all wind up with twisted ankles and concussions.

Why the fuck can't any of these fucking doofuses look normal? Goddamn it. Why are Josh Sawyer and Chris Avellone the only ones who look like they've ever seen the inside of a fucking gym?

That's PC Gamer for you..

Y'know, it's almost been a month and I haven't seen any grognards complain about how fighters, rangers, and rogues in D:OS have magical powers. Figures. Fuck D&D, fuck its fans, and fuck their expectations.

Jest getting around to watching the gameplay videos. It'll be interesting to see whether they can make the combat compelling. The rest of it looks good. How I do love 2d backgrounds.

DOS is presented completely differently, thus users have different expectations.

Well, this is cozy...

Question for the POE experts (I tried finding info over at the Obsidian forums, but there's too much whining and not enough :obviously: intelligent discourse like over here):

Has it been mentioned when in the game you get to access the famed Hall of Heroes where you can create your own companions? Just in case that I need to create some of my own, not that I foresee Obsidian having annoying companions that you would want to instantly get rid of or anything like that because that would never happen, of course...

That may have something to do with there being no classes in D:OS.
http://divinity.gamepedia.com/Skills http://divinity.wikia.com/wiki/Category:DOS_Classes
Awful lot of magical abilities available for non-hybrid roles.

Especially for rogues. Heh, I remember all the teeth-gnashing over how Josh was turning them into a massive-damage class instead of a utility class. Make a utility character in D:OS and you're playing it wrong because the content doesn't support that choice.

There is no singular Adventurer's Hall. You will be able to hire adventurers at around the same time you get a companion. So for instance - you get to Gilded Vale and meet two companions. There should be a place there to hire two adventurers.

Boy, this Roguey person sure posts about PoE a lot.

Not as much as I do :smug:

Divinity has free form development from the get go, meaning those 'classes' are mere formats, character building suggestions. Old D&D games have rigid class systems and, as such, I do expect that characters have well defined strenghts and weaknesses or, in another word, character. If PoE doesn't make use of that and people accept it then its all fine, its a choice.

It's because D:OS is turned based. That makes it automatically better than P:E in every way, even if Pillars is better in certain areas. AKA the Codex is retarded.

I'm pretty sure it has been said that you unlock adventurer slots as the game progresses that matches the number of companions you could have at that time. That's to keep the balance of the game intact.
