Because he is a level 1 doofus with no sweet powers yet.Looking at the IGN video, why is the barbarian only fighting 1 character at a time? I thought they were best used versus many enemies at once. Not that it matters to me as I will have no barbarian in my party.
"DOS is definitely classy."
How does a game become classy? DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.
Carnage, the melee aoe, is a passive thing.Because he is a level 1 doofus with no sweet powers yet.
all of the skills and attributes wind up being used in conversations and scripted interactions. scripted interactions tend to feature the more physical elements like strength, constitution, dexterity, athletics, and survival
there's a cool scripted interaction in where if party members are a bunch of unathletic klutzes they all wind up with twisted ankles and concussions.
Why the fuck can't any of these fucking doofuses look normal? Goddamn it. Why are Josh Sawyer and Chris Avellone the only ones who look like they've ever seen the inside of a fucking gym?

Fuck D&D, fuck its fans, and fuck their expectations.
Y'know, it's almost been a month and I haven't seen any grognards complain about how fighters, rangers, and rogues in D:OS have magical powers. Figures. Fuck D&D, fuck its fans, and fuck their expectations.
That may have something to do with there being no classes in D:OS.Y'know, it's almost been a month and I haven't seen any grognards complain about how fighters, rangers, and rogues in D:OS have magical powers. Figures. Fuck D&D, fuck its fans, and fuck their expectations.
Smart idea."For people who are concerned about spoilers, the Backer Beta will feature a number of areas near the middle of the game that do not have strong connections (if any) to the critical path. In addition to the characters you create, we are also likely to feature a roster of pre-made characters who are not companions. We don't have any interest in using the Backer Beta to give out story info. We'd much rather have people play it and throttle the mechanics, UI, etc. so we can make fixes and adjustments." - J.E. Sawyer

Well, this is cozy...
Question for the POE experts (I tried finding info over at the Obsidian forums, but there's too much whining and not enough intelligent discourse like over here):
Has it been mentioned when in the game you get to access the famed Hall of Heroes where you can create your own companions? Just in case that I need to create some of my own, not that I foresee Obsidian having annoying companions that you would want to instantly get rid of or anything like that because that would never happen, of course...
Boy, this Roguey person sure posts about PoE a lot.
Divinity has free form development from the get go, meaning those 'classes' are mere formats, character building suggestions. Old D&D games have rigid class systems and, as such, I do expect that characters have well defined strenghts and weaknesses or, in another word, character. If PoE doesn't make use of that and people accept it then its all fine, its a choice.http://divinity.gamepedia.com/Skills http://divinity.wikia.com/wiki/Category:DOS_ClassesThat may have something to do with there being no classes in D:OS.
Awful lot of magical abilities available for non-hybrid roles.
Especially for rogues. Heh, I remember all the teeth-gnashing over how Josh was turning them into a massive-damage class instead of a utility class. Make a utility character in D:OS and you're playing it wrong because the content doesn't support that choice.
It's because D:OS is turned based. That makes it automatically better than P:E in every way, even if Pillars is better in certain areas. AKA the Codex is retarded.Y'know, it's almost been a month and I haven't seen any grognards complain about how fighters, rangers, and rogues in D:OS have magical powers. Figures. I'm pretty sure it has been said that you unlock adventurer slots as the game progresses that matches the number of companions you could have at that time. That's to keep the balance of the game intact.Well, this is cozy...
