Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The remastered edition of Killing Time: Resurrected features toggleable high-resolution character artwork/sprites from the original 3DO and PC versions of the game, upscaled environmental texturing, smoother gameplay, more responsive controls, and expanded control and key-bind settings.
seems properly remastered

but something about those high-resolution clowns looks and sounds unsettling as hell - god help anyone touched as a child playing this game

Pirate Brawler Planned For The OG Xbox Is Finally Launching 20 Years Later

Age of Pirates: Captain Blood was set to arrive in 2006 at one point

20 years ago, a third-person action-adventure pirate game called Age of Pirates: Captain Blood was announced via a short trailer at E3 2004. And then a lot of shit happened, leading to the game being delayed repeatedly in development and then protracted legal fights once it was finished. But now, finally, two decades later, this long-lost pirate game is arriving on all platforms later this year.

The complete story behind Captain Blood is a long and complicated tale involving multiple instances in which development was completely restarted from scratch as team members left, reportedly due to bad management decisions. However, after a big internal reboot in late 2004—which turned Captain Blood into a God of War clone—development on the game actually progressed and it was basically finished in 2009. However, the game’s previous publisher, Playlogic, began a new legal fight with the developer over the Captain Blood IP. So even though the studio reportedly began printing discs and preparing to ship copies to retailers, legal troubles led to it never launching. A trailer in 2010 promised a 2011 release, but that never happened. And that was the end of Captain Blood...or so we thought.

On June 17, as revealed in a new “world premiere” trailer, this long-in-development pirate game is actually, finally, for real launching this fall on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Based on the gameplay seen in the new trailer, it appears this version of Captain Blood is based on the last build we saw in 2010. That might explain why some of the models in this “new” video game look like they fell out of an Xbox 360 action game. After all, this basically is an Xbox 360-era video game, but with seemingly some enhanced lighting and (hopefully) solid performance.

Will Captain Blood be good? No idea! Technically, many people have already played a version of this game as a finished build leaked online in 2022. From what I’ve seen of that leaked copy, I’m not expecting some groundbreaking game.

However, I’ll admit that I’m interested in playing through a linear single-player action game from the Xbox 360 era of gaming. These days, most games like this are big open-world things with crafting and live-service stuff. There’s something oddly charming about the chunky models and simplicity of Captain Blood that appeals to me. This is the kind of game I’d rent over the weekend as a teen and beat by Sunday afternoon. And I miss those games. So I’ll be playing Captain Blood when it arrives later this year. Assuming it actually does launch this time.

This game was nearly finished yet never released. I watched the review of the leaked version that can still be downloaded somewhere on the web. The game is just 360 era popamole with hot chicks with titty jiggle and badass male character killing hundreds of pirates.

Somehow that games reminds me of another pirate-themed one. Which got released, but a bit late - started in 1997, released in 2004 which was quite a delay back then. So much people instantly forgot about. Which again reminds me of another vapurware that ended as Xbox (this time 360) exclusive - Too Human. No need to introduce that pile of crap.

another Tomb Raider clone from old times.

Captain Blood Demo
Ahoy, brave pirates! ⚓

First, a heartfelt thank you for setting sail with us and taking the time to dive into the Captain Blood demo. This game has had quite a journey—it went through several iterations in the 2000s, was last shown in 2010, and then disappeared for years. Now, we’re thrilled to be bringing it back, and your support means the world to us.

As you step into the boots of a fearsome pirate on your quest for gold and glory, your feedback is more valuable than ever. We're committed to staying true to the original design and honoring the hard work of the original team. That said, we'd love to know: What did you enjoy? What could be improved? Your input is key in shaping the final experience.

Now, a quick heads-up: we're still hard at work on a few things, so you may notice some unfinished elements. Here’s a glimpse of what’s still in the works:

* We're finishing up a new render that will bring features like motion blur, improved bloom, HDR, widescreen support, Ground-Truth Ambient Occlusion, Temporal Anti-Aliasing, and more. For now, the demo runs on DirectX 9.
* Not all language localizations are fully integrated yet.
* We’re tweaking the Quick-Time Events for smoother gameplay.
* All character models have been reworked, but we’re still polishing their animations.
* Some UI bugs may pop up, especially at lower resolutions.
* And, of course, we’ve got a few funny bugs still onboard—like enemies getting stuck in midair or finishers being a bit rough around the edges!

We can't wait to hear your thoughts and appreciate any feedback you want to share with us here. Thanks for being part of this exciting pirate journey, and we hope you enjoy the adventure!

Best regards,

SNEG Team

I played 3do version with emulator years ago and it reminded me one of those weird schizo doom wads like grezzo just without the edge. You have clowns, ducks and grannies that throw bottles at you for enemies and other silly shit. Don't get why people like this game.

IIRC, the 3DO version is different from the PC version for some reason. The PC version has this nice, open-ended level design going on where you're given a lot of freedom in one section, and the entire game is one continuous level. Lots of clever stuff going on in there. The gunplay was average, and ammo was a bit too reliant on it being stuff you would actually find in that location. It did have controls from that janky period before mouse aiming but after people wanted 3D, with enemies at different heights you need to aim for.

The Longest Journey, please. With beautifully 4K upscaled cinematics and static art. Then those Monolith games that are in a legal limbo.
