Merida, again
In the old games post MK3 Quan Chi ended up being responsible for almost everything. It even seemed silly at times.

I remember it as Quan Chi setting it up that Sub-Zero would kill Scorpion. Then Quan Chi using Scorpion as a vengeful reborn spirit to kill Sub-Zero. Then Quan Chi using that soul to create Noob Saibot in the same manner that he had created Scorpion. Pretty much he wanted to have both of their souls under his control and serving him because they were such powerful people or some shit and he orchestrated it so they'd both led the other to Quan Chi's control?

That's another retcon in the new timelime. Watch MK4 ending, Scorpion had free will and was just manipulated by Quan Chi into defeating younger Sub-Zero but once he has done that, Quan Chi revealed the truth about true murderer's identity and tried to dispose Scorpion into depths of Netherrealm... but result got out of hand.

because the OG Sub-Zero was such an asshole and lived a life of pure murder he comes back as Noob Saibot

That might just be the story of it in the MK9 forward time jump but I thought it was fairly similar in the OG timeline. Though, it seems that who is responsible for a lot of things around Scorpion got moved around as time went on then.

That was what they did in MK9 with the reboot timeline. In the original timeline the Noob Saibot = OG Sub-Zero wasn't made completely official until Deception but if you actually braved the clunky shit festival that was MK Mythologies you hear Raiden heavily imply that if SZ doesn't change his ways he'll become something horrible. But yeah, OG SZ killing Scorpion's clan/family was originally written as being done by Subby but then they had to start Project Push Quan Chi and gave him that accolade instead. Personally I think it's better if OG SZ is the one who did all that horrible shit as it makes sense that being the event that cemented he was going to taint himself forever rather than giving Quan Chi yet another fucking medal of relevance.

Midway/NRS do this thing where they fall in love with one particular villain and try to give them all the big moments. Quan Chi was this, now it's D'vorah. IIRC Quan Chi straight up stole shit that Shang Tsung was supposed to do in the original timeline.

Sorry but that's not true. In original timeline, there wasn't any mention of murdering Scorpion's family until Mytholghies.

In MK1, Scorpion was resurrected to avange himself but of the price of NOT REMEMBERING both his wife and child who still live.

They retcon it in MKM:SZ - if you perform a fatality on Scorpion in Shaolin Temple, you will meet him again in the Netherrealm instead of Shinnok. He will accuse older Sub-Zero of killing his family and clan which is instantly denied by Bi Han.

Then there's another retcon in MK4 - Quan Chi lies about younger Sub-Zero killing them but the truth is finally revealed. Before, Scorpion became a friendly bodyguard of Kuai Liang to atone for Bi Han's death.

OG Sub-Zero is not a monster, he's like dark-neutral. They made him Shang Tsung's henchmen in MK9 to make a reference to 1995 movie, in OG timeline he's is hired to kill Shang Tsung and in his MK1 ending, he earns enough money to retire and live a calm life.

IIRC Quan Chi straight up stole shit that Shang Tsung was supposed to do in the original timeline.

Yes, it was Shang Tsung who resurrected Sindel in MK3. Quan Chi wasn't even introduced to Sha Kahn (or precisely - to his clone) until Deadly Alliance. In MK9/MK10, Quan Chi pulls the strings from the very beginning.

That Batman Who Laughs for Noob Saibot looks sick though:

Only Netherrealm could follow 11 Oscar nominations with whatever that was. It's actually pretty impressive in its way.

After seeing many of the new characters from MKX/MK11, I've softened my stance on the 3D era characters. Many of them are still garbage and should never return, but I'd take Havik and Hotaru over Jacqui and Cetrion.

I have also admit that MK11 revamp of Cassie, Erron, Kotal and even D'vorah made me accept those characters as a part of MK canon and are better than Mokap, Mavado and Ashrah. Jacqui is beyond salvation though.

BTW Another hint for Havik to be a DLC:

I like the design of the characters but yeah, Jacqui is too bland. The funny thing is the concept art shows her as a sort of MMA fighter (she even looks a bit like Amanda Nunes in those drawings). If they would followed that direction she would more distinctive I think.

I think even if MK11 had every possible character ala Armageddon I'd still not like the roster because Jacqui is on it to passively curse it with her shitty inclusion.

BUT MAYBE I'M JUST BEING A BIGOT AND NEED TO WORK ON THAT

The good news is Spawn will now never be in another MK game ever again.

Hey it was free on Kazaa and I got really good at it. Only fighting game I tried since then was Streetfighter 5 or something and it was boring as fuck. I briefly played some sort of Streetfighter vs Mortal Kombat combined into one game type thing which seemed good but I only got to play it for a minute. I don't really like fighting games anymore. The awkward controls get on my nerves.
