Ok guys so instead of asking on other threads ill just make a new one (my first thread, yay!)

Ive successfully modded and enjoyed 1&2, now its time for 3.
While ive handled w1 easily, and w2 somewhat hard, w3 is just a monster with categories and numbers of mods. Read some horror stories of some mods bugging the main game progress midway and wouldn't want to experience that, ergo this thread.

Im on PC and will buy GOTY edition, so 1.31 patch version.

Could anyone point me to a good w3 modding guide and tell me which way of installing mods is best?

Many mods cant be/are better installed manually, some are simple through nmm, and ive just read smtn about w3 mod manager. Mod manager, nmm or all manually or some mix of those? What are your experiences and advices?

Im planning mods based on those 3 in the title, ie Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition, The Enhancement System, Primer.
Ill also add many smaller gameplay and some gfx, visual, models, textures mods which ill post soon.

But they are all secondary and subjected to main 2, primer i can sacrifice if not possible to mod (in that case can some other alchemy mod replace it that is w3ee amd tes compatible?).

I gave up on Friendly HUD, since i found a thread that says primer can be merged w w3ee or fhud but not both, so i chose primer and immersive cam and other replacements for fhud. If that's changed let me know.

Oh yeah and ill be choosing between e3fx, fantasy or reshade reimagined shader, what are your experiences on those?

Sorry for the long intro, better i explain all so im clear.

Ill copy sentinels answer from goty thread, couldnt forward it or share.

TheSentinel:
I'm not sure the NMM works for Witcher 3. Anyway, the game is quite mod friendly. Installing manually is just a matter of creating a "mods" folder inside the game's root folder (GalaxyClient\Games\The Witcher 3, or Steamapps\Common\The Witcher 3), and then pasting the mod there. Organization isn't hard since all the mods are contained there, and you usually only have to copy paste a folder (like "modScabbards" for a scabbard mod, or "modTurbolighting" for the enhanced Lighting mod, "modAutoApplyOils", etc) and it just works.

Me:
So since nmm isnt good what about mod manager? Or is manual the best?

Nexus Mod Manager works fine with most TW3 mods.

You will need the unification patch ( http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2134/? ) to prevent compatibility issues with mods made for a differing version of the game (goty vs non-goty). You should also use the witcher script merger after each new mod install (http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/484/).

Why did you pick primer and EE mods over say... preparations and ghost mode mods? Of those four I only use preparations. From my experience those overhaul mods create more problems than they solve. You're better off using smaller mods that only change precisely what you want.

Consider trying out immersive cam's alternate geralt&horse controls ( http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/689/ ) along with this tweak so Roach no longer gets stuck everywhere http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2288/.

I'm still looking for a mod that properly balances the loot/economy and another for the inventory size/weight system, there was one that had Roach act as a sort of storage mule but it didn't work right.

Wow, someone replied to ths thread lol! jus read your post in ee thread, had a laugh.

Found out about uni patch and script merger, thx.

Wanted to try ee but ended up w ghost and preps, someone recommended it. Since its my first play.

Couldn't use ANY imm am mods unfortunately, since they all conflict with other mods / crash game, so will try next play w ee mod.

I really can't be bothered with inventory/weight management in rpgs, so I just put weight on infinite (option in ghost mod).
I know it's immersion breaking but really don't wanna spend traveling every 5 minutes to sell loot to merchant and back. Imagine doing that in ie skellige, .

Don't know about ghost mode but I've used immersive cam together with preparations, might have required some careful manual merging of conflicting files but then most of the interesting mods will. I think the script merger has some tutorials.

Given how much time you spend walking around and riding on horseback compared to combat I felt the alternate control mods made the biggest difference by far, hence the recommendation(particularly the horse ones).

I'd say the bigger problem is how much loot you're accumulating in 5 minutes. Game shouldn't reward OCD junk collecting behavior.

Some other mods you might find useful, regardless of playstyle or personal preferences:
Fix for Avallach lab music http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2165/
All quest objectives on map http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/943/
Stack your items http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1261/?
No more rolling down stairs http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/497/?
Block and dodge whenever http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1080/?
Nitpicker's Patch - various visual fixes http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2117/?

E3 dodge system is the BEST MOD EVER. Replace the rolling with a fancy dodge like in the old videos.
