List of all Blobbers on Steam

Finally, I figured out how to set a proper combo of filters to list only Blobbers on Steam :)

I have used "Party-Based RPG" and "First-Person" tags to adhere to the most widely accepted definition of a Blobber, also added "Dungeon Crawler" tag to filter out one odd entry (all Blobbers on Steam have this tag set anyway so none was excluded). Unfortunately, I have found a few (like 2) Blobbers that had no "First-Person" tag set for some mysterious reason, so those are not included (yet). I have added them the tag on Steam, so I hope those will appear on the list eventually.

Full list of Blobbers on Steam:

As above but sorted by the newest releases:

Dirty list including "single party member blobbers" on Steam:

If you know of a game on Steam that is a Blobber but is not displayed on the list please add them a tag "First-Person", "Party-Based RPG" and "Dungeon Crawler" (especially the first tag is most likely to be missing).

List of Blobbers with missing tags:
...

Hey Chris cool set of tags.

With the All Blobber list - I can't see:
  • Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls
  • Savior of the Sapphire Wings (although this is only upcoming)
  • The Bards Tale 4
  • Infinite Adventures
Will try and think of others that may have been missed.

Also Operation Abyss and Operation Babel (were missing the party-rpg tag) - I have tried to add the necessary tags.....

Right... it seems there are more than 2 Blobbers missing :D Geez, some of those old games really have poorly defined tags. Added the links to some games with missing tags to the second post.

It is a shame that they are all boring dungeon crawlers. The blobbers picked with wiz and MM series and their open world and interesting worlds, then when back to being boring and generic dungeon crawlers.

Grimrock, Amberland, Operencia, Paper Sorcerer, Grimoire, MMX are absolutely fine for modern western blobbers. The weebs have a few good ones aswell with Etrian Odyssey, SMT Strange Journey, Elminage, Labyrinth of Refrain and perhaps a few others I am forgetting atm.
Then there is stuff like Vaporum and Persona Q that is significantly worse but still ok.
Genre is not doing great but not dead either.

But not an open world exploration games like say mm6. Outside of aberland and mmx.

One game was registered by Steam algorithm and it shows properly now :)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1091980/The_Bards_Tale_IV_Directors_Cut/

Also I think like two other appeared. I will keep track how many are there. Right now there are:
- All Blobbers: 28
- Western Blobbers: 23

It's worse, he has some of those extremely low-quality porn crawlers in his list (though he doesn't recommend them, I would have unlisted them, no need to give them any attention).
I have no clue why anyone is making them, I mean if you want porn there are better alternatives, and if you want good blobbers, same, so no idea who wants these low-rent porn crawlers
Yes... When I look closer I start to understand why most people on the forum focus on Western Blobbers instead of all Blobbers... Right...

Hmmm, actually you can filter out those without removing other JRPGs. Exclude "Nudity" and "Sexual Content" tags. Anyway, at the moment none of those show on the list anyway.

It's not a Blobber because it has one character and therefore it's "not several characters moving as one". Unfortunatelly, I have not invented any reasonable formula for filtering dungeon crawlers (Steam returns 799 total) which look & feel like a Blobber but can't have "Party-Based RPG" tag. Edit: It's Party-Based RPG, the screens mislead me to think it's just one character :)

But here is a quick, untested and imperfect filter that should include those.

It's not a Blobber because it has one character
It doesn't. It has a party of four - narratively, the other three characters are your summons, but mechanically they're full-blown party members. It's not even the Wizardry 4 situation where you can change the party composition on special squares, in Paper Sorcerer you're stuck with what you've summoned for the whole game.

It seems that quite a few classic blobbers are only available on GOG - Ishar trilogy, Eye of the Beholder (and the rest of SSI titles), Lands of Lore, Might and Magic 1-5.

I see. Never played it, always assumed it's a one char game :)

Yeah, I wish GOG had some filtering for tags.

Fate: Gates of Dawn was pretty good nevertheless.
Wait, what? Fate: Gates of Dawn was a porn game? It had nude women but that alone doesn't make it porn. Those mentioned "porn blobbers" have often the porn as main/important selling point while in Fate case it was clearly the gameplay. The nude parts were only an addition to the game not the main selling point. Also, from reading wiki, there was a censored version.
