Grimwulf would it be possible for you to post a screenie of our current stocks pl0x

What stocks exactly? I told you before, it's near damn impossible to make a full comprehensive list of our belongings. Good luck making sense of this:

Doesn't tell you much, does it? So say what you're interested in exactly, I'll provide. Also check my previous post, specifically the Sukhavati section. I posted some details on our stuff there.

I will likely sell the reindeer cow that is worth twenty times the tamarin's value

NO DEER LEAVES MY FORTRESS ALIVE! Consider this YOUR GODDAMN KOMMISSAR's mandate!

Dammit, people. Stop wasting your time discussing what are we gonna buy.

1. The chance of receiving a caravan in Winter is non-existent.
2. I'll make a pause during update if merchants come, giving our broker time to decide what exactly to buy.
3. Various merchants bring various goods of various quality. Yes, we could buy charcoal if anybody happens to sell some. We could also MAKE charcoal. Also, we don't NEED charcoal atm. 81 chunks is enough to last us thru Winter. We'll keep making more, since the gates are open again.

What about minting coins out of them?

Coins are hilariously inefficient for trading in DF.

And would it require charcoal?

Yes. Anything you do at the smelter or forge requires fuel. Unless you're working at magma forge, but we're not at this point yet.

Why in nine hells would we want BEDS? It's not like we have a lack of beds, more like a lack of ROOMS to place them. Blame the manager.

Or weapons and tools?

We're good on weapons - everyone in Kalin's squad has a decent one.

What tools? Picks? We have plenty. We also dug out more tetrahedryte (copper ore) than we'll ever need, so more tools/weapons/armor is something we can easily make ourselves. And we will.

Ideally we should make gold crafts out of them first
True dat, but that will require charcoal, and burning wood in a kastle that's short on beds is a bit impractical.

What about minting coins out of them? Would that increase value? And would it require charcoal? Could we... buy charcoal? Or beds? Or weapons and tools? RoBoBOBR Andnjord Grimwulf speak!
What the Stern Canis Lupus said.

Also:

So say what you're interested in exactly, I'll provide.

Minting needs charcoal, yes. It increases the value of the base metal x10. Crafts are better, they also have x10 value, but one bar can produce up to 3 crafts (bracelets, figurines and stuff), 2 on average, plus they have quality and thus modifiers to further boost the value (for example even "Finely-crafted" item is x3 value, "Masterworks" are x12 ). You can buy charcoal, but unless you specifically requested it from the liaison, merchants aren't likely to bring much, if any. You can buy wood and burn it, but this area is forested enough to not resort to this. Caravans are not likely to bring furniture with them, so buying beds is not realistic. Weapons and tools can be bought, but usually are quite expensive (for example iron bar can cost around 150 urists, and middle-quality iron axe will be like 2-3 thousands, more if it's decorated).

Damn, I missed the big vote! I've had so many family around that today my gf literally tripped and fell into one of the suitcases laying around. Didn't have time to catch up before now. Still, the vote went as I would have liked. Long live the Commissar!

For my option I'm going for 2) BARRELS. We can never have enough BARRELS, and we'll eventually need more than the 98 BARRELS we have. However, our fort is BARRELling towards disaster due to the lack of drinks, and all these elaborate plans will be naught but pointless BARREL rolls if we don't fix this situation immediately. Without a single BARREL of booze, we might as well be staring into the BARREL of a gun. Therefore I'll not make any other production requests, although requisitioning some statues involving BINS is pretty tempting.

I'd also try to use all my subterfuge and influence to:

a) focus completely on collecting brewable plants from the surface and making as many BARRELS of alcohol as we can.
b) finding a way to plant brewable plants, probably surface plants at the moment but plump helmets eventually.

This is a life or death situation for our fort and I'll stop at nothing to try to focus all our efforts on this, which should include pausing all other work that may distract from it and giving it all the dwarfpower it needs. I'm prepared to use all the goodwill I have with the Commissar from the creation of CombinedSound, and well as any other dirty tricks that are needed. If this means fingering poor Sukhāvatī as a traitor, so be it. If he is truly loyal to Kommunism, he will accept his martrydom for the good of the people. We must provide the masses with BARRELS of booze, or the masses will lose faith in Kommunism. It is as simple as that.

--------

Again, I'm just setting my agenda for Grim to handle as he thinks best and most fun, I don't actually want to mess with Sukhāvatī's decisions unless it's funny. But we do need that booze :)

And yeah, the last update was amazing. I can't believe no-one died in that troglodyte battle, that was amazing (and amazingly presented). I also can't believe that migrants are still coming to this horrible place!

Aw well holiday's over. *waves goodbye to Citizen as she takes her place in the militia.* Your coup almost succeeded, better luck next time!

For title I'll go with "BMF".

No need to use subterfuge for dat. Sukhavati already gave an order to set up surface farms. As for plump helmets, well, only if Lithium Flower buys some spawns from the caravan. I believe only dwarf caravans are selling those, so we'll have to wait until next Autumn.

Sukhavati prohibited the dwarves from foraging, which makes sense. It's dangerous out there, and we probably have enough ingredients to brew for now. Later on we'll receive merchant caravans and/or grow more ingredients ourselves.

HOWEVAR, the Kommissar owes you one favor, and we do need booze, so...

I hereby OVERRULE Sukhavati's decision. We'll send a squad of plant gatherers to forage for brewable stuff, consequences be damned.

It is perfectly possible to be a competent person attempting to make the kommunistik system work, only to be undermined by other actors operating within said system.

This is like that thing Cleve Storyfag was talking about. It's not even born out of malice or attempts at self-aggrandisement. Just misscommunication.

Sukhāvatī given the increased flow of foodstuffs from the surface, maybe consider reducing the scope of the food district only to the food processing part and focus on the Kommunalka before the workers get sober are overwhelmed by unmet needs and start asking where the hell is the Tsar Queen?

Oh, Grimwulf for my profession name, please make it Spetsnazovchik.

Missed this. Don't do ninja-edits when you're trying to ask me sumth! :argh:

Unib's teeth are neatly buried with her body.

EejtYWk.png

We have some bones, horns, and skulls - Sqeeco will craft something special out of them, being a legendary bone carver that she is.

No idea what's up with langur's severed body parts - it's something happening on the surface. Guess we'll find out in the next update.

Baud's teeth are dumped inside Kommissar's former quarters in the outpost. Goddamn slacker didn't have the decency to take his teeth with him. AFAIK, there is no use for dwarf teeth in DF, can't even sell them. Same goes for body parts like cartilages and nerve tissues.

In general bones, teeth and other parts of sentient creatures are useless in DF, so no elf liver stew or human skull totem. Can be fixed in RAWs or through dfhack, but that's not the way things are handled by Grimwulf.
