I think I am going to raise my score to 7.5/10, mostly due to experiencing some more cool quests and some more really good environmental effects (forest, night, storm, lightning creating light for 1s).
For higher than that it needs more gameplay. I cannot ignore all the empty walking/riding and too many fetch or go there and kill quests. Also there is nothing to find while exploring except a simple random encouter here and there.
The main quest where you attack that bandit camp was cool, doing battles with a group was fun and it is a shame so far that was only one.

Overall this game is worth 20e or so, anyone that paid more was cheated.
It is eyecandy and has interesting combat system with terrible UI but just not enough interesting content to be more.
Also feels too low level. Like playing FP boring version of Baldur's Gate 1 where you start as lvl 1 but by end of game reach lvl 3. And can only be fighter or thief.
And of course severe lack of variety of enemies.

Some things that you criticized are actually what makes the game so unique and memorable for me. I loved the "empty" walking/riding because the game doesn't care about the open world 40-seconds-formula and instead relies on its incredible atmosphere. Because there were no hidden secrets behind every corner everything felt much more meaningful - even if I just found a mundane non-interactive landmark or a little grave with some loot.
KC:D is kind of a "slow" game, maybe comparable to RDR2 (though I never played RDR). Animations take longer than in other games, the nature/atmosphere is not just the background where the actual game takes place but a feature for itself, stuff like that. I think it needs a certain player type to enjoy that, others might see it as flawed.

I know I asked for more quests where you are not alone but I didn't know what I was going to get in this eurojank.. I am doing DLC where you join sir Kuno and his marry band of mercs and go hunt down bandits.. and in first big battle I must have accidentally hit one of his guys and as soon all bandits went down all of them went after me.. come on you janky piece of terrible coding shit..

Would you guys recommend Hardcore mode for a first playthrough?
Yes 100%.

I was worried about lack of fast travel. But you can buy very fast horse, and no fast travel means that you are forced to economize your travels - make sure that when you travel somewhere, you have multiple things to do there. For me it added to the game. Only at the end there were few "fetchy" quests where it became a bit annoying, but again, with fast horse it takes generally few minutes to get around.

What I love the most about hardcore mode is the lack of GPS though. Game is much more immersive thanks to that.

Not only i played it hard core but i also had a bunch of mods installed as well. The lite version of the better realism mod, the one that made the combat harder and removed master strikes and a few minor mods (like the one that sticks to first person whenever you pick up herbs). On my next game i'll definitely add the one that halves XP gain.

All right, I managed to finish the main story.

Excellent choice & consequence that affects quest outcomes and follow-up questlines. Notable examples of this are the Talmberg poacher and quarry heist. There's also occasionally a way to resolve questlines with skill checks (other than the three common variants, namely speech, charisma and threats). It's not as extensive as VtMB or F:NV, but getting there. Combat is a hit or miss, it works best in 1v1 duels or group skirmishes in the late game. The camera targeting is absolute ass when trying to fight multiple opponents alone, but it doesn't matter during late game when you have become a one man army. No need to mention master strikes, everybody seems to agree they were a bad idea.

Even though the main quest didn't break this time, the game was still rife with bugs. These range from mildly amusing bugs with the NPC AI that don't affect anything too much to jarring ones that required me to load a save from a hour ago because a side quest got broken. It got to a point where I was walking on eggshells following the most obvious scripted route during quests because I was wondering if slight deviation would cause the code to crap itself and softlock the quest.

The environments, soundtrack and attention to historical accuracy were GOAT. The Codex, which I was reading quite a lot in between playing, was a nice addition.

Overall it's a solid 8/10. I might check out the most interesting looking DLCs (namely Band of Bastards and Hans Capon's adventures).

Band of Brothers is pretty cool. Hans Capon one is more for laughs (also pretty tough as he wants you to win in the tournament). Restoration of Pribislavitz is pretty cool, if you got extra grochen and no idea what to do with it, that is where you sink it all for little return :D

I won the tournament as Hans's champion way back when I hadn't done the monastery quest at least. I had forgotten about that until Black Peter ambushed me and gave me some neat armor upgrades. Stumbled into Marius accidentally too while returning to the ruins of Pribyslavitz, had no idea at first that he was part of a DLC quest. During the siege phase I was already swimming in around 20k groschen so I went to throw some into the rebuilding effort, but it seems you need a shit-ton of money if you want to finish the town completely.

Made combat harder? Salute, dude. Admittedly I completely suck at these kinds of games, but the game reflects that. Get better, do better with tangible results.

Shame that there no painted armor pieces in game that would fit with warhorse gauntlets and brigandine. I hope that in KCD2 we will get more fancy stuff, maybe even some al antica shoulder and cuirass pieces.
Also red dyed saxon gambeson is the best looking gambeson in whole game.

Exactly. They even pissed all over that in their blogs -- for reason. https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads...d-go-to-new-thread.69258/page-76#post-4780397

Good comparison to BG1 though. KCD reminded me of that as well. And that's what I like about BG1 as well. A hut in a forest may be just a hut in a forest. Not something deliberately placed there you know is gonna contain loot, enemies or a quest. This feels like a world. Rather than something tweaked to keep the kids entertained and not switching to their Smartphones.

KCD goes even further though. BG has bloodshed from start to finish. KCD I finished with barely engaging in combat, select for a few quests. You're not ye mighty Dragonborn. You're a Smithborn, after all. It would be natural if KCD II now ups that game though, even when keeping that philosophy 1:1.

This game is weird. It tries so hard to be serious business but in the end it only brings on absurd situations.

Like in the early game when you arrive in the city to your lord to tell him you'll bring back his sword and everybody says "what a brave lad". Nobody comments on the fact that Heny was in his underwear since he had two altercations with guards because of assault and stolen clothes, and when they're all patting his back they don't care about him carrying a full suit of armour he just pilfered from the same castle. Really makes for unforeseen comedy.

Also pressing "i" in the archery tutorial to access my inventory, which actually stopped the tutorial right before I could fire a single arrow with the result of having Bernard shout at Henry how much he is the most fucking useless yokel he has ever seen.

So I decided to try getting used to 30 FPS cap in this game, to see whether I can stand it for sequel. Actually got used to it suprisingly fast and now finding it a preferable way to play in comparison to these fucking stutters when framerate fluctuates near NPCs. In most games I wouldn't be able to stand 30 FPS but this game feels surprisingly smooth like that. Combat pace is slow enough for it to not be an issue. Until I get a much better CPU I'm sticking with this for sure. So I went for as much graphics whoring as I could, increased resolution to 1440p, pushed several view distance variables above in game settings and set shadows to 2560 resolution, 2.5x more than in game settings allow. Very noticeable difference, especially on those night torch shadows. Was going to go for 2048 value at first but there was still noticeable flickering in night shadows, adding 512 more solved most of it. I don't know why cryengine games were sticking to pathetic 1024 as maximum shadow resolution for so long, that's the same one Crysis 1 used. As an added bonus my PC is way quieter when playing like this and my GPU doesn't get hotter than 56 degrees Celsius. This most likely means I won't need to wait for new PC to play the sequel.

I've been playing it and I've really enjoyed everything except the combat. The combo system doesn't work, you're lucky if you can get one hit off on a target before you're blocked. In one on one the only real way to beat someone is to perfect block/riposte or clinch and strike. In group combat it becomes a clusterfuck of targeting the wrong person while you get hit from every angle, unless you got your own guys in which case you can beat people up with impunity. Longswords are great for early game and can go the whole way with perks, but otherwise mace and shield rules the late game since almost everyone is in heavy armor. As far as archery goes, I've seen people bitch endlessly about it, yet I'm a crackshot with the bow and can lay out an entire camp of cumans before they even get to me.

Game is massive and just about every quest has felt enjoyable instead of filler to add time. Suffers from the same problem all games that use the "get better by doing" system do which is doing crap like bunnyhopping to raise vitality, punching cows for strength and unarmed, shooting some guy's poor sheep for bow, picking every lock you can possibly find, etc etc. but that's a minor problem and every skill up system has its own flaws. Economy falls off as soon as you can steal entire inventories from merchants, by mid-game the only money sink left is From the Ashes where you get to rebuild a town and once that's done it prints grochen for you. I would have liked more things to waste my hard-stolen silver on.

Wish I had ignored retarded guides that said don't go looking for the ancient map treasures right away because it will make the game easy, that's rubbish and by the time I got around to digging them up, everything but the helmet was outdated. Get them right away if you have the DLC, it will make life slightly less painful. Speaking of pain, the early game is suffering by design because you're not a generic badass, you're a wimpy peasant, but it feels good once you start getting ahead. I really, really hope the sequel won't suck.

All you need to do to trivialize combat is train with Bernard until you get master strikes, then do the "clear camps of assholes" side activities. Finishing "Ruin" and "Raiders" is enough to get pretty powerful. You will get enough stats and make enough money from loot for the rest of the game to be fairly easy. And that's available before main quest even gets properly going, there's zero need to steal anything ever in this game. So if you really hate combat it takes little time to turn into easy mode, especially if you go maces. This is what I did this run except I chose Longsword, because I only really want to replay the main story before the sequel. I don't care much for side content in this, find most of it boring.

I have no idea what GPU/CPU combo you have but you could take a look at this program:

There is a bit of input lag and ghosting depending on how you configure it and which FPS you are targeting but I started using it on some games (Elden Ring, Warhammer 3, etc) and the FPS gain was insane for me with very little graphical downside.
