http://boingboing.net/2014/11/12/kickended-tracks-completely-un.html

Plane tickets never bought, EPs never recorded, mobile apps never to be made mobile, Kickstarter is littered with them. Now, Kickended tracks all of these projects into one sad repository.

With 8700 completely unfunded Kickstarters to sort through, the site gives you the choice of random campaigns or the whole depressing archive. It offer no commentary, because why heap abuse on people who've already seen their dreams crumble to dust? I don't even want to share my favorites because it almost feels meanly voyeuristic. While there are a number of dopes who just want people to buy them things with no return, there are also the well-intentioned yet clueless who imagined money would pour forth effortlessly, as well as your garden variety weirdos. And all that separates the dopes, clueless, and weirdos from the successful is about ten grand of other people's money

http://kickended.com/ is basically a random button for Kickstarter projects that managed to amass a grand total of $0.

Why We Need BasedGamer.com

The gamer voice has become more prominent than ever before. Through social media, game forums, and aggregator websites, gamers have taken it upon themselves to demand a more sincere platform for games journalism.

BasedGamer will be devoted to a community driven by gamers. Similar to the popular website, “RottenTomatoes.com,” BasedGamer will feature a genuine aggregation of game reviews and other great features.

Gamers will finally gain the spotlight they deserve with BasedGamer.

Who is behind this?

Hello! This is Jennie Bharaj. I am a humble gamer who is passionate about video games. I have made it my goal to highlight the positives of video games and the games industry. I created BasedGamer.com to further my objective - for myself and for my fellow gamers.

I have secured a team of dedicated people who will be working closely with me to create this website. They are very passionate about the cause as well and are willing to put in sweat, determination, and hard work to bring this idea to life.

BasedGamer.com - From Concept to Final Product
This project is dependent on your support!

Show us your interest by signing up on the website and spreading the word! You can sign up at http://www.BasedGamer.com.

Raising financial support is very important. My team and I are expecting 650 hours of work to build the website. This includes design, programming, and testing. Here is a percentage breakdown of cost:

· 35% - Cost of designers. This will include four to five iterations of design work for web and mobile screens

· 45% - Cost of development. This will include front end and back end programming

· 20% - Cost of performance testing/tuning. This will include unit testing, beta testing, and bug fixing.

We are expecting to work with a team of five: two front-end designers, one back-end programmer, one front-end programmer, and one testing lead.

Risks
As of now, a low number of sign-ups is a definite risk. Moreover, there has been a lot of recent incidents of malicious attacks targeting individuals and websites in the games industry. We are concerned about similar attacks towards BasedGamer.

Perks
BasedGamer's perks are very humble. They range from thank-you letters to being featured on the website.

I kindly ask those who would like to provide input in the creation of BasedGamer to consider donating to the larger perk packages such as "Be The First!" or "The Works!" Our top perks all include involvement with the creation of BasedGamer.

inb4 Gamergaters feel split between having an alternative to the game journalism they denounce and this project being led by a woman.

So, did you all see the recent, most delicious drama surrounding the Elite:Frontier kickstarter?

Offline mode dropped at the last minute, because they couldn't hardly be arsed to implement such a thing, you know, too much work and compromise of vision, bla bla, I lolled really hard

the following interview with Braben from 2010 is especially fun, considering his u-turn, seems like always online is enough and longevity of single player experiences, who cares

Well, as someone hating anything multiplayer I would be upset, if I pledged, but as with Shroud of the Avatar, it's pretty obvious that the Frontier thing was never intended as singeplayer game to begin with, so I have a hard time feeling empathy for the gullible

Can't wait for the rage storm when Shroud's singleplayer mode gets scrapped

What a dick move. Always online DRM for single-player games is pretty terrible in general. But explicitly telling gamers they can play offline when you're sucking up to them begging for their money, and then turning around and shoving it in anyway because now that you have their money you want to treat gamers like thieves is particularly bad.

Nah, the GGers love any woman who will speak out against the SJWs and/or their game journo cohorts.

It could be an interesting site actually, it would be nice to have an alternative to metacritic that uses a more intelligent aggregation algorithm. I'd chip in some money if they didn't have such a shitty name. "basedgamer" wtf?

Matt Forbeck's acclaimed Shotguns & Sorcery™ book series is going to be adapted into an RPG powered by Monte Cook’s Cypher System™!

Also https://www.kickstarter.com/project...leweed-park-a-new-classic-point-and-click-adv

It’s like opening a dusty old desk drawer and finding an undiscovered LucasArts adventure game you’ve never played before.

Twenty-five years ago, Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick created the game that introduced the world to 2D point & click adventure games. Maniac Mansion took the computer game world by storm with its compelling story, complex puzzles, cutting edge humor, engaging game play, and provided an entire generation with a new idea of what an adventure game could be. Blah blah blah...

And now they are back together with an all new 2D point & click adventure game! Ron is skinny again and Gary had that rash looked at — and they're here (finally!) to create the true spiritual successor to Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island.

Guess Ron looked at how Broken Age ended up and said "fuck it, if you want something down right you gotta do it yourself."

Added to PnP and Graphic Adventures respectively.

Grab the Codex by the pussy
Wayward Terran Frontier: Zero Falls
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1084206971/wayward-terran-frontier-zero-falls

That convoludicrous title alone gives me pause, but it will certainly surpass its funding goal and is billed as an "exploration based RPG where you own a space station and command custom designed star ships." There's a modest chance this might not be shit.

Wayward Terran Frontier: Zero Falls is part space-trader and part exploration-driven ARPG, with a whole lot of functionality packed into the space between. This is the singleplayer prequel to our previous project simply named Wayward Terran Frontier. It is Windows only during development but we are already laying the foundation for a potential port to Mac and Linux in the future. This game lets you command massive starships with fully mapped destructible interiors.

Add it or don't. No one actually reads the OP anyway, because it's Kz3r0's personal list of things he likes, and nothing he doesn't like.

There was another kickstarter a few months back that look like exactly the same sort of game as this, but with a much worse pitch video and worse graphics. It barely raised anything and missed it's goal by a long way, show how important the pitch video/marketing is.
