People aren't worried about being physically stalked for the most part, it's the possibility of people doing things like contacting your workplace either with the content of your posts or with a bunch of made up bullshit if you don't actually post anything controversial. I've been on forums where it's happened and while you're probably not going to get fired because a stranger calls up your boss accusing you of hate speech or worse with no proof bringing that kind of drama into the workplace will often still be a black mark against you.
