Make the Codex Great Again!
This popped up on my Steam feed while I was looking through the Tiny Teams Festival list. Looks cool, like a mix between Hotline Miami and Thief. Reviews look good too. Anyone tried it?

EDIT: Added some videos.

I've been playing it recently and I like it a lot. I'd describe it as feeling like a mix of Hotline Miami and Splinter Cell, with a little bit of Manhunt's atmosphere. It's got better stealth than a lot of higher budget games, for example enemies will react to seeing blood stains on the ground even if you hide the body.

Steam reviews are the lowest form of human communication. The dev is pretty cool, though.

Storyfaggots, immersiontards et al are cancer, always trying to analyze and measure a game's worth on its superfluous or secondary elements, thinking that makes them smart.
Stick to Disco Elysium and visual novels where story is actually the focus. When you otherwise play actual games you need to adjust your perspective and expectations.

I feel like the main problem with the gameplay is that the enemies only care about gunshots: seeing bodies and blood is a good thing as it'll draw them out of their patrol route but once they hear a gunshot they'll immediately swarm your position, taking alternate routes to flank you... of course if the room you're in only has one entrance you can camp to your heart's content just like in normal Hotline Miami.

Also regarding the pahlitics, all the characters are slavs.

Got it since it's free. Plays pretty smoothly, although I really wish you could carry more bullets on you.

I just got it last minute on the Steam sale -- I'm about halfway through. The first levels went very quick but they're getting more complicated now. It is a fun top-down 2D stealth/action game with a whole set of "mutators" that add things like bullet ricochets if you want to customize the experience. I don't know if I'll mess with those but they seem like cool features to have.

The last couple of levels I thought I did a reasonable job sneaking in with a throwing knife and silenced pistol (and knocking people unconscious too, which is always possible if you can get close), but I realized a body was discovered somewhere when I was exfiltrating, so I ended up having to shoot my way out. The enemies are reasonably reactive for a game like this -- at one point I was in cover and shooting enemies as they came through a door, but eventually they wised up and took cover outside. I'm playing at the second highest difficulty and it is pretty realistic/unforgiving -- enemies go down fast but so do you if you take fire.

Fun game for what it is.

Enjoying my time with it so far. Game goes by really quick and combat is fairly easy on normal, maybe I'll have to bump difficulty up a few notches.

Pretty fun to lead enemies on wild goose chases just to double back and shoot them in the ass.

Just two thoughts: not sure if an omniscient eagle-eye perspective makes for a good stealth game since it's basically wallhacks. Will have to see if there's a setting to remove that.

Also the first (only?) time you get to make a dialogue choice in the game, is also the stupidest choice.

I can't really see why I would ever spare the Baker, but it's a video game I guess.

I like it. Even the writing is passable.

Edit: and finished. Pretty short game, according to Steam I have 4.5 hours but I kinda rushed it. There seems to be some replayability due to a level designer and mods.

I didn't take any silenced weapons to make the game harder. This made the later levels ironically easier since my story decision led to a silenced pistol as a default.

Yeah it looks *really* good judging by gameplay alone, not many reviews of it though, I could only find two YT reviews and one of them was pretty shit
