I'm looking for some RPGs that have actual history or are heavily influenced by them. I'm just sick of fantasy shit. I've played Darklands, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and yes, I'm looking for specifically Late or High Medieval era.
I've been playing some Conqueror A.D 1084 but I want something more than that.

Can't speak to vikings, but Expeditions: Conquistadors fits the bill. Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader will likely get recommended but it's absolute shit-tier, with historical characters like da Vinci written in the vernacular of a late 90s dude (the mechanics also suck, it's bastard Fallout SPECIAL).

While not RPGs, the pseudo-VNs The Pillars of the Earth and Pentiment were both quite entertaining and hewed close enough to history to scratch that itch, for me.

Historical rpgs:
- Alexander: the Heroes Hour (ancient Greece and Persia during the reign of Alexanderthe Great)
- Teudogar and the alliance with Rome (ancient Germania during Roman attempt of conquest)
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance (medieval Bohemia)
- Sea Dogs (XVI century, era of Carribean piracy)
- Vendetta: Curse of the Raven's Cry (XVII century, era of Carribean piracy)
- Kim (XIX century colonial India)
- Hammer & Sickle (early cold war Germany)

Historical rpgs with mystical/mythical elements:
- Five Guardians of David (hack&slash in Biblical Israel)
- Prince of Qin (ancient China + magic)
- Seal of Evil (prequel to Prince of Qin)
- Unrest (ancient India + magic)
- Theseus: journey to Athens (ancient mythological Greece)
- Rise of the Argonauts (mythical Greece, no actual connection to actual place, for example Delphi is an island)
- Nethergate and Nethergate Ressurection (Jeff Vogel's vision of ancient Britain during the Roman conquest, with magic)
- Expeditions: Viking (medieval Denmark and England)
- Darklands (medieval Germany with witches and demons)
- Bastard of Kosignan (5 module campaign for Neverwinter Nights, medieval Burgundy, Germany and France with some degree of magic)

- Expeditions: Conquisador (XVI century America)
- Age of Pirates: the Carribean Tales, Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships (XVI century, era of Carribean piracy, with fantasy elements like the udead)
- Dark Secrets of Africa (XIX century in colonial Africa, search for the mysteries of the pyramids and more)
- Another War 1&2 (2nd World War + occult activities of the nazis+weird humor)
- Grom: Terror in Tibet (2nd World War, nazis searching for ancient artifacts of power in Asia)

Pseudohistorical rpgs with weird shit (aliens, worldwide conspiracy theories, space artifacts):
- Assassin's Creed: Origins (ancient Egypt)
- Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (ancient Greece)
- Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (medieval Scandinavia and England)
From more recent releases devoted to medieval era I'd add Knights of the Cross about war between medieval Poland and the Teutonic Order (surprisingly it's a Chinese rpg with card mechanics) and Heads will roll: Reforged (100 years war + late crusades).

Not an rpg but Shadows over Silesia is a good fit if you are into historical games in general. Especially if the setting/time frame of KCD interested you.

Shadow Hearts Covenant ties fantasy with reality really well. Brilliant game if you like JRPGs

Heads Will Roll: Reforged despite the thin veneer of porn is heavily inspired by A Legionary's Life and set during the late middle ages. A Legionary's Life is superior but it is set during the Second Punic War so not really the time frame you're looking for.

Darklands is 1400AD so it fits the bill. Is also is a good game - with major flaws. A bit like Arcanum in this aspect. It has some fantasy but very well merged with a truly historical setting. Combat engine sucks though.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Bubbles In Memoria

I know it's "historical fantasy", but I wish they went with a more realistic art/armour style. They're frogs so surrounded by visual historical sources.

The same issue for me with these recent medieval indie games, I don't understand why the cartoon-ish art style.

Having briefly played the demo I would say game has cartoonish style, because it has cartoonish setting with plot revolving around secret society which is chasing after another, evil secret society.

Also 1st character which player gets under control is woman crusader, and worse yet proper breast plate doesn't seem to be an option in unit appearance customisation.

That aside game might be fun.
