Thought about creating a thread but this seems like another vaporware from the PlayWay family. Pretty-looking Norse mythology action RPG:

This company Blum Entertainment listed three other games with no release date including city builder and online battle royale, so it's possible this is one of those that will only exist as trailers and Steam page for a long time (or ever): https://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=BLUM Entertainment

Ragnarok has come ...
On the ruins of the old world destroyed after the clash of gods and giants, Gimle is created - the place where humanity was reborn. The New World was described in the prophecies as free of wars, hunger and suffering. For thousand years it has been struggling with the forces of evil for an unknown reason. Meanwhile, another disturbing threat is coming - death will be only the beginning of the suffering of the fallen. Norse warrior Brand arises as the last hope of mankind - will he stand up to the fight and uncover the mystery of an unfulfilled prophecy?

Well who knows, PlayWay family actually release games time to time and some of them were very successful. But listing three more games under the team of same name still doesn't convince me that this will be released as an actual game.

Step 1. Pay $100 to get a steam page
Step 2. Create animated GIF's about an apparently fake game
Step 3. Don't release the game
Step 4. ?
Step 5. Profit?

I'm not quite sure what the scam is here?

Many studios create Steam pages with fake trailers and screenshots simply to gauge interest. If there's not enough, they don't start developing the game.

Well, that city builder game at least is just a reskin of Builders of China and Builders of Egypt by other Devs. They are probably just testing which setting generates the most interest via different Dev accounts

Some info about the game's combat system taken from discord

Game Design Corner #1Góðan daginn!

It's time for some official game design news about the game The game has a dynamic, real-time combat system. Optional companions will be able to join the main character’s party and help him in the fight.
During the fight, the player has full control over the hero and must react to everything that is happening around him.
Brand can use five types of weapons: one-handed, two-handed, polearm, short and ranged.
Each type of weapon offers a different fighting style that relies on a different method of controlling and conducting the fight.

One-handed weapons provide the greatest versatility in the fight between mobility, enemy control, and damage dealt. You can fight with it using a different one-handed/short weapon or shield in the other hand.

Two-handed weapons provide the greatest damage and considerable armor penetration at the cost of much slower attacks. It also provides a wide range of attacks, making it easier to fight larger groups of enemies. Polearms allow you to control the engagement with the farthest and broadest attacks of all melee weapons. Particularly useful against enemies that you need to keep at a safe distance.

Short weapons consist of a variety of light weapons that unrestrict character's movement and are easy to hide. It allows you to flood your opponent with a barrage of blows and has the best chance of dealing critical damage. Moreover, it is the best weapon for sneaking attacks.

Ranged weapons allow you to attack enemies from a considerable distance and defeat them even without getting close. Some ranged weapons also offer the use of different types of missiles, such as bows and crossbows.

There are four types of clothing in the game: robes, light, medium and heavy armor. The heavier the armor, the better its protection. The weight of the armor affects the regeneration of health, stamina, mana as well as the speed of movement, attack and dodge of the player. Each light, medium, and heavy armor is divided into five components: boots, bracers, pants, armor, and a helmet.

Shields are also considered as a piece of armor. Light shield allows the player to move during the block but it is not as effective as heavy shield which grants wider range and quality of block

There are various types of enemies in the game, from average and relatively harmless creatures to powerful enemies with whom the fight will take place in several stages. During the clashes, the player can use a range of normal, special and magic attacks. The most powerful magic is related to the soul power (hugr) of our hero. In some locations, elements of the environment may also be helpful. However, they can turn out to be harmful to the hero if use incorrectly. During the fight, it is possible to use a variety of items to change its course to your advantage. It includes potions, throwing items, ointments, traps, oils and other items that affect our character, companions, opponents or our equipment.

Some Concept arts
The first is Skuggi - disembodied souls of dead thieves and perjury, who were wicked until the day of their death and did not atone for their sins.

Skuggi-square-grtadient.png

The second one is Aptrgangr - a mighty and great undead, who with his attitude inspires fear in the hearts of his opponents. He can tear a person with his bare hands, but much more often uses his powerful, two-handed weapon for this.

Gimle Lore Book #1 - Boggarts, cunning, green-blooded collectors of items
We are happy to present boggarts - cunning, green-blooded creatures who collect a variety of items for their collections
Góðan daginn!

Welcome to the "Gimle Lore Book", a series of updates in which we bring you information about the universe of the Gimle world. We have been creating a huge lore of the world continuously for many years, so we have a lot of information ahead of us, which we will share with you! Without delay, we invite you to the first episode of "Gimle Lore Book".

We are happy to present boggarts - cunning, green-blooded creatures who collect a variety of items for their collections.

Boggarts are small, primitive, and malicious creatures that live in places far away from areas inhabited by others. You can often find their camps in forests, caves, and tundras.

These creatures love to search the lands for a variety of items for their collections. Each boggart accumulates its own property, which distinguishes it from other boggarts and provides us with respect and prestige.

2b18cde61e798662a259d45bbe56963898ca967e.png

They have no problem adapting their lairs to their surroundings, but most often they prefer to set up their camps in dense forests, caves, or ruins, which they use as foundations for their own primitive structures that provide them with shelter.

Boggarts have a hierarchy within their groups that divides boggarts according to social roles. Among these roles, we can distinguish collectors, slingers, shamans, and the chief who leads the tribe.

Góðan Daginn Vikings!

In today's Devlog, we will tell you about the locations in the game for the first time. The first location will be the capital of all Lifians, which is Lifborg. In addition, we are announcing the upcoming big changes to the game, which we will soon be able to reveal straight from the game engine!

Ragnarok, the great war between the gods and the giants is over. The Old World was burned by the fire of Surtr, and the New World emerged from the depths of the Endless Ocean - Gimle. New people also came to the New World - Lif and Lifthrasir, who, according to the prophecy, gave rise to a new human race - Lifians. Their first building ever created gave rise to Lifborg.

Overview

f1b1e40a6e45b5895a98bbd3b396457e6f7d4b94.png

Lifborg is the oldest city and the present capital of Lifians, situated in the center of Lifian Kingdom founded by the first people of Gimle. The River Lifgefandiá flows through the city, also known as the Life-Giving River, which is one of the most important symbols of the city. Lifborg is the most spacious city with the most inhabitants. The city is divided into several districts. Each of them has its own unique meaning for the city and its inhabitants, fulfills the functions assigned to it and has its own unique atmosphere.

The city is ruled by Harald - Konungr of Lifians, who was elected by the congregation of Jarl and the Sage as heir to the throne after his father, who also reigned as Konungr. Although Konungr is elected under Lifian law, and the capital of the kingdom varies according to the clan of the person who is currently elected Harald, as a descendant of the previous Konungr he was chosen by the Jarls for his courage, wisdom and courage, which he displayed himself, not because of its title. blood ties.

History

069aaa5cbd9d08c0fb613541282481913c9e99c9.png

Lifborg is the oldest city ever built. Its founders are the first people on Gimle, after whom Lifborg was named after them At first, the tiny house that Lifthrasir lived with his wife Lif and his children over the course of hundreds of years developed into the status of a giant city with thousands of inhabitants.

Lifborg has grown and changed significantly over the course of hundreds of years. While the city has not always been formally recognized as the capital city, it has been so in the hearts of many Lifians, especially its inhabitants. The city has gone through numerous ups and downs, wars, and treaties. It witnessed both the fall of rulers, rebellions, and betrayals, and also the birth of hope, the beginnings of new ideas, and the formation of new alliances. The history and importance of Lifborg significantly distinguish the city from others and makes it a real cradle of Lifians culture.

Lifborg was the first, historic capital of a kingdom whose first king was Atli, elected hundreds of years ago. Thanks to this, Lifborg gained a special meaning and it is here that the Sage has his seat, who, as the only person who has the possibility of contact with Odin, watches over the faith and unity of Lifians and over the fulfillment of God's will. The sage has three powerful organizations called Circles to help. Melkolf currently holds this honorable function.

The capital, like every city, also has the seats of the Circles - Hlif, Visindi, and Kanna. The circles play an enormous role in the life of Lifians. Each of the Circles, from the time of their appointment by one of the Sages, plays a key role in the Lifian society. The essence of the Circle is to fulfill the role it has been given, to cooperate with other Circles, and to fulfill the will of the Sage. The circles also help Jarl and Konugr, but most of all they try to achieve the goal for which they were established beyond divisions in the hierarchy of society.

Architecture

9c6735bcf22393229006ce10e66a9cf33aca636a.png

Each city in the kingdom has its own architectural style. The architecture of Lifborg is characterized by quality, elegance, exceptional workmanship, and monumentality of buildings located in the city center, connected with wooden, often poorly made buildings located on the outskirts, which significantly emphasizes the problem of social differences in the city.

There are many multi-story buildings in the city center. There is a crush here and a fast pace of life. Although wood is the predominant building material, in the center of Lifborg you can often find buildings whose main material is processed stone. Thanks to this, the most important buildings of LIfborg are extremely durable and strong, but it is much harder to provide them with adequate heat and the construction process takes longer. On the other hand, low-quality buildings made of wood prevail at the city walls and gates, and beyond that in front of the walls, you can often find even makeshift tents and shelters for people who cannot find a place in Lifborg, due to the difficulties in getting a home in the city. The outskirts of the city are also characterized by a much greater thinning and calm, but also poverty and dirt

The most important places in Lifborg are:
  • Long House of Konungr - Place of residence of the currently reigning Konungra or Jarl.
  • Sage's Seat - The place where the Sage lives with his successor and the Sage's Adepts
  • Circles' Camps - Inhabited by members of a particular Circle, they allow for the coordination and organization of Circle activities in the province.
  • Clan Houses - Inhabited by clan heads and the most important clan members
  • Sewers - Due to their size and span, they allow you to travel almost everywhere in the city.
  • Main Market - The most lively place in the whole of Lifborg, which attracts traders from all over Gimle with a chance to earn money.
  • Vingrad Merchants' Guild House - House belonging to influential members of Vingrad Merchants' Guild
  • Gothis' Ritual Circle - A place where various rituals are performed, especially the one that blesses the Althing.

Although the prevailing hustle and bustle, dirt and the visible social gap among residents may discourage newcomers to Lifborg at first glance, the city still has beautiful places, unique personalities, unprecedented holidays and majestic buildings that can impress most visitors over time.

Citizens

cd5afd08c38779258a2d28237473f53b784e0933.png

The people of Lifborg are Lifestans who are very proud of their origin, united with their city and Konungr Harald. The society of Lifborg is characterized by exceptional loyalty, courage, obedience, and faith. Unfortunately, the people of Lifborg have long struggled with social inequalities and poverty. While the current Konungr Harald is trying to solve the scarcity problem in Lifborg, which is appreciated by the people, unfortunately, it is too complex a problem to be easily dealt with.

Due to its central location in the kingdom, Lifborg is at the heart of inter-city commerce. Many merchants and goods pass through the city every day, thanks to which the inhabitants of Lifborg have a very wide range full of exotic goods, and thousands of commercial transactions take place in the city every day. In addition to the highly developed trade, the inhabitants of Lifborg often witness many festivals, holidays, and rituals, in which they often participate. Due to the very strong faith of the inhabitants of Lifborg in Odin and the presence of the Sage and priests in the city, cyclical rituals of worshiping the All-Father have become an integral part of their lives. pleading for peace, prosperity, and a good harvest.

An unexpectedly important role in the lives of many residents is also played by the Lifborg Canals, which are one of the most famous architectural structures of the city. Their span and size are so large that the canals spread over almost the entire city. Their importance in the everyday life of the inhabitants is much greater than it may seem at first glance. The canals are used not only to move around the city by water, underground in hollow tunnels. for some residents, they are used as a hideout, temporary shelter, or even as a home. Lifborski's underworld uses the channels for its activities, and the guards are constantly trying to intercept numerous goods smuggled by criminals and disrupt their secret meetings. However, Lifborg's channels are not used and inhabited only by humans, and they are also a home for many other dangers...

In the next episode, we will talk more about Ragnarok, Gimle, and Lifians. In addition, we are preparing a new dose of information about the game graphics, which we will soon be able to tell much more and present the first materials!

Gimle Lore Book #2 - The Old World
Góðan Daginn Vikings!

Today's episode of Gimle Lore Book will be the first part of three in which we will discuss the history of the in-game world. In the beginning, we will go back in time to the era of the Old World, which existed before Gimle was created.

The game world consists of many varied elements and mixed together they make it absolutely unique. Before we talk about them, however, we want to outline how it all began, so the best place to start will be the very beginning...
Birth of the Old World

8ffc149da06ce2773f19a30a7a4e00c027f885e4.png

Before the creation of the world and the emergence of life, there was an enormous dark void called Ginnungagap. Two worlds emerged from within the void: Niflheim, ice-bound and dark, and Muspeheim, blazing with eternal fire.

The lands that were initially distant from each other began to come closer. When they finally met near the center of the Ginnungagp, the Muspelheim fire began to melt the thick ice of Niflheim, forming droplets that breathed life into the first Jötunn called Ymir. It was this first giant that gave rise to his entire race, the representatives of which left his body while he slept. Another creature that arose from the melting ice of Nifelheim was Audhumla, a gigantic cow. By licking salty blocks of ice, Audhumla gave Ymir milk to grow in strength and size. However licking the blocks resulted in another strange occurrence. As time passed, hair emerged from within the ice... the next was whole head and finnaly, on the third day, a man called Buri was free from the shackles of ice.

Buri was the first of Aesir to appear, along with his son Borre. At first, both men lived on Audhumla's milk. Borr married the giant Bestla, daughter of the giant Bolthorn. They named their half-god - half-giant child Odin. In addition to Odin, his brothers Vili and Ve were also born, but it was Odin who became the ruler of all As.

Odin and his brothers killed the gigantic Ymir and created the world from his body. They used his blood to create oceans, muscles and skin to form soil, hair made vegetation, brain clouds, and sky was made of Ymir's skull. The As then made the first female, Embla, and the first male, Aska, from two tree trunks. Fearing Jotnar, the As provided the people their own world - Mitgard, and the giants left for themselves created their own world - Jotunheim.

Yggdrasil and the Nine Worlds

Over time, many new races and worlds have been born into existence. The As settled in their own realm, which was called Asgard, leaving humans in Mirgard. There was also a new race of gods called Wanami that took up residence in Vanaheim. The worlds of Muspelheim and Nifelheim still existed as two primordial worlds on opposite sides of reality. The realm of fire was inhabited by fiery giants called Muspells. The Elves of Light found their home in Alfheim, and the Elves of Darkness settled in Svartalfheim. After a long time, arose the world of the dead - a gloomy place for people who have suffered an unworthy death. This world is named Helheim after its ruler Hel.

All Nine Worlds were situated on the great tree of life called Yggdrasil.

The Nine Worlds:

6d5adfae02eeb1447498db0324e1958309a7393f.png

• Asgard - Home of the main dynasty of gods - the Aesir
• Vanaheim - Home of the older race of gods - Vanir
• Niflheim - The land of fog, ice and cold
• Svartalfheim - A world inhabited by the Dark Elves
• Midgard - A world inhabited by humans at the center of the Yggdrasil tree
• Helheim - The icy land of the dead located at the bottom of the tree
• Jotunheim - A world inhabited by Jötnar, a race of giants that will attack the Aesir
• Muspelheim - The land of eternal fire, inhabited by fiery giants called Muspells
• Alfheim - A world inhabited by Elves of Light

Unfortunately, according to the prophecy, Nine Worlds, including Ygddrasil, had to meet their end in the face of an inevitable war between Ass and Loki allied with the army of Jotnar, the undead of Helheim and Muspells. Although the prophecy was known to everyone for a long time, no one wanted to believe that it could not be changed... Especially Odin, also known as the Allfather, who, being the most powerful of the gods and having almost everything in his possession, was to die in the jaw of the great wolf Fenrir.

For hundreds, if not thousands of years, Odin tried to acquire the necessary knowledge to change the fate of the world. He sacrificed his eye to the Well of Mimir to gain access to its knowledge, he hanged himself on the Yggdrasil tree to understand the runic magic, and traveled all over the worlds to get as much information as possible... Unfortunately, all his actions were in vain, because Ragnarok(that was the name of the coming war) finally became a fact...

The game will have a dynamic, real-time aRPG/HnS combat with many special attacks, magic spells, unique hugr (soul) powers, usable items etc. mixed with core RPG elements like extensive character development, many different activities and systems that can be used by the player, storyline and sidequests with choices, HUGE lore and much more :)

Every element of the game like characters, locations, items, quests, etc. form a coherent lore and big RPG world, so we will manually create characters, most of the locations and quests with unique story and dialogues. The plot, lore and immersion are the keys, so we want the player to enjoy the gameplay, storyline, exploring the world, locations and not die constantly or permanently.

It would be cool if the game features the Nine Worlds. The game looks too ambitious though.

Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with developing games. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly do we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!

Gimle: The Broken Prophecy
Over the past two weeks, the world of Gimle has been enriched with concepts of two new characters. In addition, our programmers have done a great job and implemented several key functionalities into the game. All right, let’s get down to business and check out all the changes, shall we?

CHARACTERS
Siv – A deeply religious woman and the mother of the main character. She is the widow of Agnar – Brand’s father. With the help of family and friends, she raised her son, whom she wants to ensure the best possible future.

As mentioned, Siv is a very religious woman. When Brand fell ill, she prayed to Odin every single day – just like when Agnar left the house to deal with his (often dangerous) duties. She tried to raise Brand in a similar way, so that he would always respect the gods.

Siv is also distinguished by the fact that it is not superficial. She can read people and look inside them. She tries not to judge anyone and always tries to see the good in people.

Quartermaster – this is the person responsible for supplying the troops, camp, or garrison – he takes care of providing food, tools, equipment and everything that could be useful.

The Quartermaster can sometimes prove to be a source of important information as his ear is open to every whisper and gossip. He is a rather busy man so don’t waste his time.

Quartermaster_BLUM_CA_GIM784_v1_24.png

MECHANICS AND FEATURES
It wasn’t just our concept artists who were busy – the programmers weren’t idle either! During the last 14 days they have been working on: improving interactions in the in-game world, the proper use and operation of triggers, improving the combat system, main character movement fixes, implementing new AI statistics, and an inventory system.

As you can see, these two weeks have been very busy for us but hey! We are not going to slow down!
