What color filter did they use for 76 anyway? We had green and yellow and something blue I think...

Appalachia area actually looked pretty good as far as I remember. Much closer to sci-fi Skyrim because the area was largely untouched by nukes.

Reached level 50. "You may pick a legendary perk". I bought the Legendary Infiltrator since it gives +3 hacking and lockpicking (+automatic success on 0 difficulty locks/hacks), since I had zero on both. However I like the STR perks and my STR is capped at 15, and I see a Legendary STR perk, it says "+2 STR, +2 STR perk capacity". I grab it, only to notice the fine print says that it won't make perk capacity go over the 15 cap. Realizing I spent my legendary perk pick on some melee damage and 10 carry weight, I try to change it. Realize I spent the legendary perk changing currency you get from scrapping unwanted perks trading legendary infiltrator for this. For reference, I get triple the benefit from drinking beer.

tl;dr contrary to what one might think, "Legendary Strength" is not something you'd want to pick for your musclehead character with near legendary strength, but your nerd one with 2 STR.

Wait, what?
The September 2021 update added config options for the private servers, which include damage dealt / received etc. / Enemy HP so you can get an equivalent of
very hard mode in the previous games.

Oh lol, yeah, the "private servers", I remember now, thanks. RIP modding, the only thing that could had actually saved this shit....
That shit seems to be catching.

Use the thing that resets your attributes to lower your strength to 13, and spend the 2 points on other attributes.

I think Rusty told me more about the game than anything else but it was mostly good things that were sad like 76 being more of a real RPG than 4.

There are two types of house builders. Those who try to make a home away from home, and

(up there is a flat space with some workbenches, a cooking pot and two BoS flags)

The punch card machine, right. Also I got the costs wrong, it's 50 perkbux to rank up a legendary perk, changing them costs 1.

Enjoyed it far more than either FO3 or FO4.
If someone told me the people who made Wastelanders was making an RPG, I'd be very interested.

If we are talking about just the base game, sure. But in the end it's a Bugthesda game, without mods.

Mods can't fix what is wrong with FO3 or FO4, which is why the TES games tend to be much more well regarded than Bethesda's Fallout games.

Like it or hate it, TES games have generally had fairly decent worldbuilding/lore/stories/quests.

This is probably because most of Bethesda's attempts for "atmospheric design" are limited to Garry's Mod setups at best.
Just recently did they have the idea that locations near each other should have some connection and cohesion vs throwing shit randomly onto a map.
Someday Bethesda just might learn to localize their loot tables to keep from having to further retcon the lore of IPs in their possession. Would be funny if this were the game to teach them that lesson.

Did the entire Vault 51 in a sitting only to discover you can't

kill ZAX even though he's an insane AI determined to lure in more people for his never ending Overseer competition. I think it's because he used to be the organizer of the battle royale mode (Nuclear Winter). Still you don't even get to interact with him, he congratulates you for being the last one alive in the vault - thus proving you're the most capable dweller, which makes you the overseer - and then loses interest and goes silent (you discover his overseer game is pointless because it restarts immediately once the last one standing is declared overseer, since an overseer needs dwellers to oversee, which means you need more people, which means the overseer might not be the most capable vault citizen anymore, which means you need to test everyone again), and you can read some terminals to find out how the previous overseer managed to escape after realizing the competition never ends and why there were scorched around - Zax was considering recruiting them until deciding that their hivemind makes them unsuitable for a battle royale since...well, they won't attack each other.

Speaking of those guys, the boss was a scorched in power armor but due to level scaling he was 100x harder than every other enemy, and you can't loot his unique red hellfire armor, or even his generic laser minigun. Best loot out of there were the sentrybot and eyebot figurines on the shelves, hopefully they can at least be set as decorations if i have the right furniture. Otherwise, your reward is the generic boss chest.

:dead:

On the internet, writing shit posts.
Tried playing Fallout 76 during the free week.

Can't sign in because apparently you need to link your steam account.
Can't link the steam account because Bethesda's website is dogshit.
Can't send a ticket to support to resolve not being to link accounts because Bethesda's support is bugged.

Clearly, Bethesda's website and customer support service is in need of mods.

So I managed to contact support and clear the problem up, meaning that I get to play the game for real.

And...It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
I mean, it's MMO Fallout 4, except without shit dialogue and you get more than 4 responses at a time.
Food and drink is back, proper ammo crafting is back so that's good. You don't have to sit through a 10 minute long sequence of family drama, so that's great.

The UI and controls are still clunky, so that's not as good, and the god rays are super aggressive. Like, goddamn when there's that fog effect with the light coming through it's absolutely blinding.

A bit of a repetitive dungeon crawler, but again it is MMO Fallout 4 so that's kind of to be expected.

It's still not quite the Fallout we want, but it's better than I expect. It seems functional. I guess the devs spent the time to polish it.

Rusty status: vindicated.
