This is really awkward to watch. Like a hobo grabbing at people's purses near police station.
Exactly. So shut the fuck up, there is nothing wrong with Elite's design, just because you want some christmas tree design.Could you exlain to me why jetfighter/Star Citizen style design is better than the blocky design of Elite?
Personal preferences in regard of aesthethics.
not really. the thing they altered drastically is adding details to the underside while the top still mostly looks like a triangular wedge. what makes bonescrapers butthurt amusing is the fact that he loves the viper, which looks nothing like the vipers in the originals.Wow, thank you for this Information.
Makes the Butthurt of Bonescraper even more amusing.
the designs changed marginally. what you are asking for is the equivalent of starfleet cruisers dropping nacelles and saucers all of a sudden.the design of the Equipment and Ships was always subject to changes.
but they are changing most of them. they are just changing them to still be in line with the general elite design principles and aren't touching the most iconic ships like the cobra, asp, or sidewinder all that much.I want to build up on your Anaconda Example again.
So, even the Designers of E:D don't shy away from modfying old designs, there is no hardwritten rule of "no Change", despite These ships being supposedly "iconic" by design.
So, if they Change a few, why not do the same with the rest, at least in a way that makes them a bit less shoeboxy?
WTF. I'm perfectly aware of the changes. Pretty much all ships have been altered visually. I think the Sidewinder is the least altered one, as it only gained the canopy. And i think they did a great job on all of them so far. They managed to maintain good balance between the oldschool low-poly design, modern 2014 graphics and futuristic aesthetics.not really. the thing they altered drastically is adding details to the underside while the top still mostly looks like a triangular wedge. what makes bonescrapers butthurt amusing is the fact that he loves the viper, which looks nothing like the vipers in the originals.Wow, thank you for this Information.

your argument basically boils down to "i don't like the design direction so they should change it drastically, because fuck elite fans", which you try to hide behind a bullshit argument about technology, in the same vein retards would argue against turn based combat in rpgs.
bulky designs are part of the elite setting, deal with it or play star citizen instead.
Am I seeing it right, the joystick is modelled after the Saitek X52? Cool.
Is it just me or do the starport hangars look considerably brighter in those screenshots? Not complaining -- It seemed a bit strange that my ship was parked in a gloomy half-lit bay when people were loading/unloading hundreds of tonnes of gold. I hope there'll be some proper vanity cameras so I can view my starship and inspect the (A)wesome battle damage when I'm docked.
The only thing that is similar to X:R, is that you can open up a menu, which is located sideways. There are no other similarities. That UI looks inspired by X Rebirth.
That's because you are talking gibberish. As I said, the only similarity is that they both have a menu sideways, every other part of the UI is different.Gods, everyone's so defensive about this game. What happened to discussing the merits of specific feature implementations? It's as if everyone with a critical eye is just dismissed as a troll or hater, because everything in the game is perfect. Wtf is this shit?
I made a comment on the appearance of a UI element which bears significant similarities to that of X Rebirth, which has a UI that is terrible in every single way. The good response would be 'yes it does look similar, but it's better because blablabla'.
To its defence, the functions you use in that view are not functions that you have to reach immediately, in a combat for example. It's navigation, subsystem optimization things that you do when you have time for it.not a fan of the side screens myself. there's no reason why they couldn't have been a toggle on the main view.
