Follow this link to find out more about this rouge like game made for the Doom 3 engine.

EDIT: I seem to have forgetten the number 3 at the end of the URL. It's fixed now. Sorry about that, my copy and paste skill sucks. :)

That thread is about mapping the middle mouse button on the alpha version of Doom 3 about two years ago. The thread has no mention of roguelikes in the five posts there.

magic in doom

I currently focus on other aspects of the mod - I hope that the expansion pack, which apparently gives the player demonic powers, will make it easier to incorporate a magic system.

It's in the early stages, but it is definitely a rogue-like, through and through. The levels are dynamically created, the monster you encounter are random, you gain experience for killing monsters which allows you to level up, the monsters drop gold which you can use to buy new equipment as there isn't any available in the levels except at the shops, as you go down deeper into the dungeon the monsters get more challenging, etc.

One thing to note, is that it is in first person perspective and action oriented so far. Considering it is based on a first person shooter, it makes sense.

Overall I think it will continue to get better and hopefully get more complex gameplay-wise.

Sounds good. I like the fact they're keeping the weapons intact. I'll wait to try it till a later version perhaps.

new version available

A new version with updated graphics and AI has been released:

hi,
I know it's been almost 20 years and you'll probably never answer me, but I was looking for the source code of the dungeondoom mod to convert it for the dhewm3 source port
https://dhewm3.org/
Thank you
You'd probably have more luck emailing the dev directly, or contacting via ModDB. hellborg's account does not exist here anymore.

That said, I remember DungeonDoom quite fondly. I didn't spend too much time on it, but I know I had fun, as with a few other mods and TCs. That was also the era of possibilities as to what could be done with the Doom 3 engine before id decided to pretend it never existed and moved on to Rage.

I tried both on gamefront (https://www.gamefront.com/@hellborg) and on modDB (https://www.moddb.com/mods/dungeondoom) but I didn't get a response, here it was a bit of a desperate attempt

This goes back a bit in my memory.
for me it's the best doom 3 mod, unfortunately the author hasn't responded to me yet, never mind I'll continue playing with the vanilla engine, because the source code dhewm3 is really better.
