Post pictures of your graph paper maps from Wizardry or the like!

I've recently started Wizardry 7, a more detailed game than Bane allowing a bigger legend and delineating many different tiles, which lead me to ask for pictures and advice in drawing the maps. I've found myself distinguishing tiles like the cobblestone and grass in New City which may be a vanity. The first dungeon was easy to navigate so I never mapped it by contrast to the first floor in Bane which needed to be mapped out because of the stairways to the second floor. That may be decline however I think each room and pathway had noticeable differences that could be understood as good level design. New City is impossible without a little mapping out. Too many twists and turns in the alleyways. Also keeping track of each building, store, or emblem would be a nightmare on first playthrough.

Anyway, post some maps, legends, and notes! Any dungeon crawler is welcome btw.

I knew the game was bigger than Bane but jeez.... needed only 20 pages max for bane but this one....

Ill post one when I'm done with new city! I can't remember where my bane maps are and alas lost the save on an unsalvageable computer.

Never heard of it. Any good?
It's awesome. But fucking trolls kill me every time. I need to restart game with more combat-oriented character or just do not follow main quest too soon.

Game itself is one character, many skills, turn-based combat, tile graphics, rune magic that uses health, accent on survival.

I have big pile of maps like this. For some of them I can't even remember from which games they were.

Do you have to melee them?
I noticed that the Ash Bow is called "Troll Slayer". Maybe that's a hint?
Maybe, but I don't have it and these trolls are in the dungeons after killing demon, so I need to escape them first. Soul Fire spell can kill one or two, but that's all.

It's not abandoned, just postponed until I have enough free time/ figure out how to go past the point I am at.

I don't think I have any of my old maps left. :-( The last games I mapped by hand were probably Wizardry: Bane of the Cosmic Forge and Eye of the Beholder. So we're talking 25 years ago.

Also remember mapping out Pool of Radiance, Might & Magic I, and possibly a couple others.

I do still have my hand written notes from the first time I played Ultima VI (summer of 1990).

Checked my old save. Bow skill is "feeble" and cutting is "weak" (now modest). Found a way to grind, though. You can save on the first level, so I just kill several trolls, return back and save on the first level stairs. Fire spell is good for killing trolls, but there are giant army of them on level 3. I can't even use invisibility spell because they block narrow passages.

And with just increased to "fair" strength I'm finally not overburdened.

This is my own character after having cleared the Goblin Cave and found the Tome of the Ancients:

I've spent all excess money on herbs so far, but I see Power Control has increased quite a bit, so I guess it's safer to cast Heal now.
I'll also buy an Ash Bow if I know I'm about to enter a Troll infested dungeon.
Although relying on magic may be safer, since in my experience one casting uses far less "action points" than loosing one arrow (which rarely do much damage anyway). So I'm using bow outdoors, magic indoors and melee against weaklings and critically hurt enemies.

I've found my problem, I'm just too rife with cash. All these 3 grands really slow me down. :M

Yeah, it looks like the more burdened you are the more enemies spawn (because you are moving slower).

I made it. It was the gauntlet and real nightmare. Made several practice runs, learnt way to stairs by heart, trained my power control to great and spirit to modest (for using balefire on level 4 boss). Fire was already promising. Not tarried even a one turn (except for regenerating stamina), sometimes fought 10 trolls in the same room and made it down down down.
Don't forget to save after talking with first level molemen. Quest item will not spawn otherwise.

Checked date of my save before Dwarlow showdown. My character spent TEN YEARS in this godforsaken dungeon.

Thank you very much for inspiring me, guys.

I made outdoors maps for World of Xeen. Since I play M&M games when summer start and the last one was true boiling hell that lead me to stupid things like this I have no other excuse for this.

Plus Legend of Grimrock. Less and less stuff written on it, just stopped caring somewhere in Level 9 out of 11 or 12...
