When the Doom reboot came out, there were mods trying to implement some of its gameplay elements into classic Doom, with D4D (Doom 4 Doom) and D4T (Death: Foretold) being big examples. However, something similar kind of happen with Doom 3, but most Doom mods based around its series were either focusing on a certain part of the series or just happened to have something related to Doom, while focusing on something else.
Kinsie, who worked on a mod called Reelism, decied to make a mod that is based around the entire series, which means the classic games that everyone knows and loves, Doom 64, 3, the reboot, those mobile games, pre-release versions, some ports and even much more, to the point the mod is this sort of recapture about the history of Doom.
MetaDoom is a mod that brings elements from almost every Doom game, but still trying to find ways for it all to fit, so the mod gets some balance that feels like "Doom with Doom, but still plays a bit like regular Doom".
One example is the randomization, that happens to be progression based, meaning stronger or weirder weapons will appear after you get basic weapons, while some vanilla or regular enemies will get replaced by stronger and more different foes. This randomization system can also be affected by the number of levels played, so an extremly annoying enemy shouldn't be hard to deal, if you have some weapons that can easily take him down.
The weapons happen to have a huge variety in use, with one of the reasons being that you can't have many versions of the same weapon at once, so you get a machine gun from Doom 3 that has the micro missiles from the reboot, while the rocket launcher looks like a mix of its classic, 64 and 3 versions, with the ability to detonate rockets in mid air from the reboot. In other words, these weapons are combined to save space for something that plays differently.
And of course, you also happen to have weapons that bring big changes (From the Doom 64 Unmaker coming with the demons keys to the holy water pistol from Doom 2 RPG) and an inventory system, that brings some more items to use.
Meanwhile, the new enemies work as replacements for the vanilla enemies, that can appear in certain times, who are either different designs of the monsters or new species from the series. Enemy variety becomes a huge deal, to the point some have abilities that they normally wouldn't have (An imp from the reboot teleporting around) and names taken from Doom RPG (So that imp is now "Imp Lord" and not just "the Doom 3 imp")
This mod is not perfect, but still extremtly solid, as if it was a Doom tribute done right and something that any Doom fan can enjoy.

So, what does any of you think of this mod?
And what other Doom mods or wads do you like?
