I've said it before and I'm saying it again: they really should give Dragon Age 2 the ME2 treatment. Dragon Age is a pretentious piece of shit of a game. Give Hawk a machine gun and some walls to press up against.

In other news GOG.com has all of the IE games available for ten bucks a pop. The new shit just doesn't compare.

Didn't every single "professional" reviewer complain that the game was too hard, and didn't bioware fix this by releasing a patch which made easy dramatically more easy?

Yep. I remember hearing all over the place that it was difficult. Almost every review I read talked about it. So I don't know what their on about.

I tried Dragon Age recently. It was a piece of shit and it's not like Baldur's Gate was a tactical masterpiece to rival X-Com and JA2 either.

Mass Effect 2 on the other hand was decent enough to be The Best Game Bioware Has Made Since MDK 2 so maybe this is for the best. Instead of making bad RPGs maybe Bioware should focus more on milquetoast action games.

Yes, "altered for a wider audience" (especially one that needs a low difficulty because it didn't use the restricted and fucked up birds-eye view that DA:O gave you if you wanted it) means "dumbed down". Sechs, setzen.

Well now, DA2 might be an uninteresting piece of dross but at least it elicits some moronic "reviewer" newspeak to entertain me. Next generation of DRM will probably try to charge me for that, too.

But, as a PC gamer I liked Bioware much more back when they were unreasonable trend setters instead of the reasonable trend followers they've become under EA.
I was a bit hazed out during the period that Bio raised to its fame so how much of the above is true? Esp. the part about _unreasonable_ trend setter.

It's pretty common lately for the mainstream gaming press to ignore that little bit of common sense. They talk of streamlining, simplifying and enhancing accessibility, but refuse to admit this is dumbing things down in any way. The fact that it's common sense seems to go over their heads.

Call it like it is. A revisionist statement to give them an excuse to remove the overhead view. I suspect there is some truth to the quote, as they probably did lower the difficulty to make it easier for retards, but the viewpoint has absolutely nothing to do with that. FFS.
