I never found Divinity to be particularly heavy on parody, they just maintain a sense of humor. Then again, 'parody' is one of those magical words people use without knowing what it means.
It's a humorous imitation of serious high fantasy.

Why the fuck is this only at 275k? It looks/sounds great, the masses should gobble it up.

Because good games don't sell, only dreams do.
NO. Those are not just dreams.

Those are already established known IPs who many people came to know and love and talk about - all enhanced by the lack of anything like it fater for more then 10 years.

Its not "dreams".

All we have about project eternity and torment are promises that this will be as good as those games, people crystalize all their hopes on that, seeing and expecting things that arent there, I am pretty sure some backers have expectations only a god could fullfill and will end up disapointed. Yes those are well known IPs but not the original teams, a few prestigious names ,few screenshots its mostly all dreams.

On the other hand Divinity original sin, we known almost everything about it, what the combat system is , what the graphics are , everything is playable and almost finished. Theres no margin for dream, its like it or not it wont change much by now . Even if this will turn out an awesome game it will nothing like the dream game kickstarter backers imagine and envision when they back up torment , PE or wasteland too.

Recently mark jacobs launched camelot unchained kickstarter, all we get is a speech, a few concept art and the promise it will be THE awesomest RVR mmorpg ever! Guess what they are getting money faster than larian. People beleive that the glorious old days of the first mmo (UO, everquest , daoc) will magically come back and pledge in droves. No gameplay video, it will done in unity (why?!) and it will be awesome...

Those games were clearly presented and marketed like new previous very well known games. Fallout - Wasteland, BG, Planescape.

do i really need to write that down so blatantly?

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Say, is there any info about the journal system?

And does anyone else notice the gameplay videos blurring in and out somewhat?

What do you want to know about the Journal System?

How often does it update. Is very important.

Also -we could use some help with the translation of the updates in French, Germany, Russian & Polish. Volunteers, please mail to info@larian.com. Thank you in advance!

Stuff like-
How much info it stores compared to the info we pick up.
Does any info we read from any of the books all over rivellon get put in the journal.
Quests- Will it try and summarize the quest details, or would it only store the conversation details and we have to work out what we need out of it.

Stuff like that, just curious.

Checking this out for the first time because of codex buzz.

Hmmm, this looks like a blend between Two Worlds 2, Skyrim, Mel Brooks' A Bard's Tale, a free to play mmo and apparently turn-based combat. What the fuck is everyone so excited abo...

Man, I'm expecting great things from this game, but the KS seems to be moving pretty slowly.

I hope that once the Torment and Shroud KS are over, they'll do some more interviews and get it rolling again.

What I meant was: we have no journal UI yet, so right now we're thinking of shipping a notebook and a pen with the game. A notes section does kick ass tho. But there will at least be a "quest" list, a monster list (and what you know about them), a dialogue log, and a place where you can read all the lore/gossip/poetry/ingredients you've discovered.

Sounds nice.

On second thought, "no questlog" may not be the best idea for a game with lots of quests.

Wow, including no in-game quest log and shipping with a physical pen and paper is really harkening back to the Ultima influences. I guess this also excludes quest compasses and pointers, too.

This could be one of the biggest :incline: I've seen yet if it's done right. If it's just pushed out like "we didn't have enough time to add an actual quest log" instead of "you find clues and write them down yourself, they're not just magically known by your character" then that would suck.
