The perfect melding of classic Resident Evil and arcade shooter. The game was nearly perfect aside from the shit where you had to drive a tank thing. Frabulous RE combat but sped up, glorious sound track and boss fights. And the guns... the anti-tank rifle is arguably the greatest gun in gaming history, and shooting the Giganotosaurus in the face with it... nothing is more satisfying. Also the most depressing ending ever. Dino Crisis 2 is a fucking masterpiece. Back when I had my PSX it was hogging all of the attention away from Resi Evil. Consider this a tribute to the most underrated PSX title of all time.

The only Dino Crisis I ever played was first one's demo I got in a gaming magazine. I liked it, but at the time I was a teenager and didn't have much money so I never bought the game (if I was buying a game it was usually an RPG).

Dino Crisis 1 is Resident Evil but with dinosaurs and raptors chasing your ass down ominous corridors. Great game.
Dino Crisis 2 was more Arcade-like. A lot more action and gunning down dinosaurs (including big ones like the Allosaurus and even T-rex). Pretty good overall, I like this one as well, but for some people the tense atmosphere of Dino Crisis 1 was missing from this game.

I'm a big fan of the first Dino Crisis but I never bothered to play the second one. Once I realized DC2 wasn't really a survival horror game I couldn't be bothered to play it. I'll probably try it at some point but for now it remains unplayed.

It's not a survival horror.
The game has a more Arcade-like quality to it.
You can unlock more powerful weapons and gear by killing more dinosaurs, and each dinosaur gives a certain amount of points. That's very Arcade-like, wouldn't you say?

Dino Crisis was really Resident Evil, but with dinosaurs.
It was a survival horror game though.

I don't even want a new Dino Crisis anymore. I know that it would be as scripted and linear as Resident Evil 6, 7 and 8, and probably in first person view too, to reduce costs. The tired over the shoulder perspective wouldn't excite me either. They would need to put in so many dinosaurs for that overpowering perspective that it wouldn't even be survival horror anymore. Oh, and Regina would just wear the safe jeans and tank top.

Dino Crisis 1 & 2 were both pretty linear, easy, unremarkable and dumb, so the MODERNITY treatment would hardly be a downgrade. Mediocre games. Resident Evil 1/2/3, Silent Hill, Parasite Eve 2 and hell even Martian Gothic were the better options for survival horror on the PSX. Or if we're talking any games with any horror themes at all which were plentiful on that amazing console, you can add another 20 games to put first before them, such as Doom, Tomb Raider or Parasite Eve 1.

TL;DR: play the many top quality PSX games, not the mediocre ones. The gaming world would be a better place.

House of the Dead basically?

Yeah not sure what this guy is on about. Surely just trolling. On rails light gun shooters weren't possible? There was tons of them on PSX and Saturn, complete with accurate light gun shooting and co-op. They are also dead simple games compared to most (aside from the lightgun technology), so I'm not sure why Nifty thinks it would not be possible.

Also...Resident Evil Survivor existed on PSX, a lightgun shooter that WASNT on rails, and also was not developed by Shinji Mikami. You had movement control, branching paths and such. That was pretty impressive. Game itself wasn't that great, but it was impressive and it's a shame more games didn't do it, expanding the concept further. Edit: Oh wait, I also forgot Resident Evil Dead Aim, but that was also equally mediocre.

I forgot about RE Survivor. Definitely more interested in replaying that than either Dino Crisis 1 & 2. But that's nostalgia talking. All three games are sub-par.

Everything you say about DC2 is correct, and it is one of the best games Capcom has ever made.

Well, yeah, I like it.
It's a good game, but different from the first game.

Players have been eating the scripted over-the-shoulder slop with the canned animations like moving between narrow walls (19:35) for so long that even they can't imagine a modern Dino Crisis as anything but.

Also, Regina wasn't wearing latex (It was probably leather over some kind of polyester.), didn't have a massive butt and DD breasts, you coomers!

Edit: The tiresome, super dumb crouch-makes-quiet is there too (13:19). Shame on them.

Edit: Why did they make her English?
