You should post that picture on the Diablo Reddit. The Amazon thread has 1.3k upvotes. Nothing against black people but I think the original D2 Paladin was more of a mulatto.

It's the observation that the assumed default camera perspective is that of a straight man. It is the depiction of mostly people (but also events) through the eyes of a straight man for the eyes of a straight man.
how dare developers
*checks notes*
develop games that cater towards the overwhelming majority of people who actually play them rather than alienating their fanbases
It's not about catering to anyone. It's about depicting the world how a straight man sees it and then inferring ...things by the framing. The most famous example is the painting Earthly Vanity by Hans Memling:

You have painted a nude woman because you like looking at her this way, but also assume she is looking at herself in the mirror the same way you look at her, so you have named the painting "vanity". This suggests a woman is self-absorbed, duplicitous, and perhaps sexually perverse, especially when they are constantly depicted this way. It goes way beyond "I like sexy women in my video games", trust me.

You think the problem is her being older, rather than not sexually attractive? Boy, do I got news for you. This whole debacle shows there is a problem somewhere.
Of course there is a problem - they aren't being faithful to the original.

From where I'm standing, no self-respecting man would look at this in this light. It's not only juvenile, but also pathetic.
I am a gamer at heart, so I am looking at the problem like a gamer would. Shame on me, I guess. But, hey, let's talk about sexual attractivity in video games instead, like a true self-respecting man would. This is totally not juvenile and not pathetic at all!
Then you just can't read the room.

So you say, but perhaps it's you who's mistaken? Because I have seen plenty of people in this thread bringing actual visual evidence when discussing the point (here, for example). So this isn't just some "the Amazon does not fit my male sexual fantasy" bullshit, like you claim it is.

Games are a form of entertainment, escapism one pays for. Moreover this is a fantasy game, and Fantasy was always the most imaginative genre of all as the mere name suggests - monsters, magic, heroic men with perfect figures, heroic women with perfect figures etc. As for "real" looking people, I can just go out and walk down the street, go to a shop or whatever, I don't need to look at their potato faces in my games I pay for you utter cretin.

Sure, for some people it might be about the preservation of the original intent, but for most complainers it's not that. They wouldn't use the word "uglify" if that's the case. Ugly for whom?

Don't buy games with non-sexy-for-you women then. This goes for everyone who wants to stare at sexy women in media. Vote with your wallets. We'll see how far that gets you.

I pity you if that's a normal, mature looking woman for you. She has obviously male features.
Seeing as she's based off of a real actress' face, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe rethink your gender/sex theology.
Maybe tell me that they did a really shitty job:
OohaofH.png

Just compare her chin, cheekbones and cheeks. If you don't see rugged male characteristics on the 3D version then maybe YOU should rethink your gender theology. Not to mention that Amazon is a young woman in the original game, so it doesn't make sense to make her look like a mature woman in the first place.

They are. Maybe that's why we are getting this older version of the Amazon.
the amazon looks like a dude

this is a dude's face.
if your implication is that women are so shit at art that they can't even properly create females, then maybe they shouldn't be working as artists
