the weekend has come and so have I. game looks ridiculously good

For some reason, the RE engine has a really hard time with faces, but other than that, yeah, it's really impressive.

Completed Mission 7.
Despite only being able to play in Normal I am still having fun with this.

Tomboy is really useful, and the boost it does to the revolver is really awesome.
Good old Buster arm is still has cool as ever.
Ragtime is more difficult to use than it seems, since one hit while it's ability is up will instantly destroy it.

V really is an interesting take on the game.
I was surprised and happy to see in the shop that he was large amount of moves otherwise it would boring fast.
The familiars all have a small pool of health so you have to still be sharp with him, and call them back whenever the situation is dangerous for them.
Plus I that whole smug emo act is fun since it's kinda self-aware (his taunts are particularly stupid - in a good way). And reading that book near an enemy while destroying him is better taunt in the game.

I actually like the callbacks to the other games in the series, since never feels forced and/or self-congratulatory (MGS4 comes to mind as an example of a bad way to do it). The demon that possessed Lady was called Artemis (like the laser firearm of DMC3), the boss of mission 6 was named after the gauntlets of DMC4 (Gilgamesh), the horse of the boss in mission 5 was from the same species as the carriage boss of DMC1 and finally in mission 7, the Proto Angelo shares the same design and a similar fighting style has Nero Angelo.

The enemy design so far really is the best in the series.
Even the few enemies from the other games all have new moves and counters.
It's good see they even tough of different types of roles for this game (demons that have a support-like role; or environmental hazards - like the shock trees, the roots, the "spawning" ones, etc...).

An oasis of love and friendship.
Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
if it's like any other game fantadomat will soon let it slip he played it on human

that said even on devil hunter it is still easier than past games, on mission 10 and I have never used a gold orb and have like 15 of them at this point.

Been playing with Dante and for some reason I find it difficult to reliably pull off Million Stabs in this game. Did they reduce the transition period of Stinger > Millions Stab or what?

Is there any way to get Shadow closer to the enemies without spamming the attack button?
You could try not attacking. The pets will unsummon a short period of time if left inactive so you can resummon them again.

It's been a long time since I've played the other games, but the move in DMCV is well explained. Do the stinger motion and let go of the analog stick and hold the melee attack and it'll come out.

That's.. not the problem I had with the skill at all. I'm simply unable to perform it since the time period to let go of the analog stick seems to be shorter than before.

What mission Dante becomes playable?

that said even on devil hunter it is still easier than past games,

It's suposed to be normal, as such it's supposed to be a more casual challenge, so I won't hold that against them. I just hope Hard or at lest DMD make up for the lack of challenge.
Still if you want to experience some difficulty, go back to the prologue and kill Urizen (you'll unlock all difficulties).

Does it? Do you not immediately let go of that analog stick after inputting the motion? I haven’t had any issues getting the move to come out doing it that way. In fact the input seems to be lenient as you can actually let go of the melee attack after the stinger input and then hold or tab triangle before the last bit of the animation and still get million stabs to come out.

So, is it playable with keyboard and mouse?

I've been testing out and it's actually surprisingly comfy and playable.

EDIT:
In fact the controls are even separate from each character.
For example you may use Q for Nero's Devil Breaker, and also have Q as V Devil Trigger.

For some reason, the RE engine has a really hard time with faces, but other than that, yeah, it's really impressive.

It's really more the women faces. Still more interesting is that in the character models look really good but uncanny in-game.
Take Trish for example:

don't know how much vram you're working with but what fixed all issues for me was:

- change to dx11 by editing the ini file
- lower textures from 'ultra' down to 'high'
- turn ON the shadow cache'ing
- be sure not to rely on the game's frame-limiter, instead use rivatuner or nvidia driver fps capper.

after those 3 steps game is smooth as silk, perfect 60fps. i'm on gtx 1060 3gb.

I had a similar problem. Then I set the screen refresh rate to 60 hz in the graphics options and runs smother for me.

oh yeah the game has to be in your monitor's NATIVE refresh rate for perfect compatability. i was getting an almost-black screen for a while sometimes during certain moments (usually right after loading into a mission) because I was overclocked to 80hz via softtware. after selecting my native 75hz on the game menu the black screen after loading went away.

Is there a way to have a permanent lock on? It's kinda impossible to press both shift, ctrl and wasd to dodge and I still have no idea how to switch breakers without dropping the current one. V gameplay seems to bee too easy on PC, it's always SSS rank almost everywhere and F spam resloves all battles including the bosses I had (at chapter 14 atm)

Trying to beat the prologue boss for instant difficulty unlocks is like the Nier Automata tutorial on hard all over again.

RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In
I'm having problems. I was playing the game for an hour Maxed out at 144 fps everything except Chromatic Aberration turned off and Ambient Occlusion set to SSAO. Game was running great but then I put both those settings back on and now the game is crashing after a minute of playing. Before that it couldn't run above 1 fps which was odd so I restarted my computer and now it constantly crashes instead. I'm re downloading the game to see if that fixes it.

Open dmc5config.ini and change "TargetPlatform=DirectX12" to "TargetPlatform=DirectX11". My game was crashing a few seconds after I gained control of the character, but this seems to have fixed it.

I'm loving the game so far but I've pet peeve as a first playthrough is that the game is super easy and gives a lot of gold orbs. Two, V's combat is very fun but imprecise and lens itself to button mashing which doesn't work so well for the two bosses I faced so far.

Three, spent red orbs do not transfer across characters. The only thing that transfers is blue, gold & purple orbs. It's annoying because DMC4 made them transfer and they seem to have overlooked that here. It's not a big problem since you still earn a lot of orbs and I'll keep playing the game after beating it.

There's an inherent disconnect with controlling your character but only being able to attack with his two demons. It makes it much more difficult to actually pull off combos because you're controlling V and two other demons with the same joystick. It hasn't been a problem against regular enemies, it has been a problem against bosses that move much quicker than enemies and do more damage.

Still it isn't bad just really odd to grasp and I could easily see it in an action rpg style game with lots of summons and control of familiars, I guess it's a test for dragons Dogma 2.

One cool thing I found is that in mission 2 when you first encounter a hell antonera, if you gerbera above the floor, it won't crumble and you won't have to fight them at all.

The bosses so far have all been very good apart from gilgamesh & Geryon Knight. Gilgamesh is not bad, just nothing special while I feel like Geryon from DMC3 was a better fight than Geryon Knight.

I deleted and reinstalled the game. It saved my old settings which was everything maxed out but ambient occlusion set to SSAO and chromatic aberration on.

It seems to me that the problem was setting ambient occlusion to HBAO+ and I use AMD.

I'm getting 90+ frames all the time except for mission 7 cutscene where it dropped to 30 for a few seconds.

I fiddled with the DX11 ini file before deleting the game but it didn't change anything, it made it worse so I recommend against it.
