I am surprised that the deluxe edition is having more success than the normal version. I guess people want that Mega Buster Arm plus the remastered OST's.

Also what? Divinity Original Sin 2 is in 4th place so much time after release?

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I've just beaten Nelo Angelo 3 on DMD, hopefully I can finish my full S-rank run of the game before 5 comes out, but Nightmare is being a wonky bitch.
Unfortunately I don't have the time at all to give 3 and 4 the attention they deserve before discussion around 5 will die out. Should I just hop over them for the moment being?

I'd say try to at least get a normal run done with 3 if you have time and don't feel like you're getting burnt out. I think you should be able to read a brief synopsis of 4 and be able to come back to it and appreciate it after you play through 5 and finish up whatever other runs you want to do with 3.

4 campaign isn't very good. And 5 gameplay is pretty much 4 on steroids. Plus the only relevance of 4 in the series plot is that it introduces Nero. So you don't have to worry about 4. Altough 4 gameplay is still fun as hell, and it has 2 ridiculously cool weapons (Lucifer and Pandora).

3 on the other hand, has so far the best campaign - although 1 is very good as well (I am also trying to complete 1 before 5). So for that alone 3 is worth. But 3 also has some brutal bosses, and a lot of memorable moments.
3 and 1 are the best and most influential games of the series - and after all 5 is the end to Sons of Sparda Saga - so those 2 games are the really important ones.

What it comes down to is this.
Are you a hurry to try out 5? Do you really want to play it rigth now?
If so, then do finish up 1, watch a recap video of the series plot, play 5 and then 3 (because the game is a classic like 1).
If not. Then finish up 1 and enjoy 3 with the style switcher mod. Then still watch a recap video (because 5 apparently includes plot points from the anime, manga and novel - yes these things exist) and play 5.

Don't hop over 3. Since you are playing the original on higher difficulties, you'll love DMC3 bosses

first comment i see from the variety review:

…Did you really knock off 40% because a game requires skill? Or even, like, because you didn’t figure out that jumping is as good as dodging?

He's absolutely right, the reviewer continually complains about how the game sucks because he can't dodge-roll in time due to lack of dodge-button... but you can just jump! He completely missed the fact that there is jumping in the game!

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.

There also is a dodge button, it's just class specific too Dante in Trickster style. The Variety review is just making me think of those stupid ResetEra post that got posted here.

One of Nero's moves looks a little different here.

Watching more the move looks the same as in the demo too, so now I'm wondering how excited that works.

My key still isn't showing on CDkeys. Hoping it's gonna be there when I get off work in twelve hours.

Edit: Sweet, the key is available now! Right on my birthday! I don't normally do this, but I think I'm gonna drag my PC to the living room for this. I set up my PS4 controller with a Bluetooth dongle a few days ago in preparation.

Just a little over 11 hours away! Really happy that we're getting what essentially a "midnight" release here in the US, as that almost never occurs anymore on steam. The hype is reaching maximum for me. Going to stay up until 6am playing this baby tonight.
