Back in the 90’s, Ambrosia Software released a series of space RPG / trading / combat games, called Escape Velocity. The creator of the second game, EV Override, is now running a Kickstarter campaign to remake/remaster the game for modern platforms, starting with Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.

Aside from the base game, the remake of Override will be compatible with existing fan-made mods (which there are already decades of, including some fan scenarios that are full-blown games in and of themselves), and it's also designed to be easily and extensively moddable.

For those who are interested in watching, contributing, or spreading the word, here’s a link to the Kickstarter campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cosmicfrontier/cosmic-frontier-override/

Hi again, all. Some concept art has been produced for the game now, to show an idea of what an updated version of the original graphics could look like:

A remake/reboot might be nice but I should perhaps first play EV Nova for Windows with the three plug-ins/mods that also let you play the previous campaigns in the series. Now that seems like really excellent value.

The problem is Nova is no longer supported, as its distributor has gone bankrupt. It’s impossible to purchase/register it at this point to unlock full functionality, and it’s increasingly difficult/impossible to get it to even run on modern computers.

To me, the biggest point of this project is to bring the EV series back to modern platforms.

(Also, it should be pretty easy for the community to create plug-ins for this to bring back the other EV games.)

Oh, I didn't know that. Are you the prospective developer for this? If so, good luck.
