Apologies if I've missed anything, currently flying over half the planet. Can I use your update together with Vaarna's? I might do that for my new game if that's the case, though that means I suppose I should leave out CKPlus.

Probably not as I've modded a lot of files that everyone else mods as well. Think you'd run into lots of problems.

Also going to take this opportunity to make a little noise for the amazing Better Looking Characters mod. This really has become the biggest and best graphical update for CKII. Guy is probably going to stop modding but there should at least be one extra version. As it is however it improves characters 100%.

The usability between the two boils down to whether or not there are extend_path conflicts or event/character ID conflics.

Been testing my own mod for a bit. It's basically a cleaned up and expanded version of the gameplay changes I myself like to play with so I kinda knew what to expect. Managing a dynasty can become pretty difficult even with the expanded fertility. Stillborn children and diseases can take a nasty toll. With war both very profitable and slightly more deadly I found that extensive wars can quickly decimate noble houses. In the test games I found that the blobs can be very stable with a good king/emperor but that his death can throw the entire realm into turmoil. Added effect which I had not taken into account before is that longer games now don't suffer from the usual 'bloated stat' geniuses that prop up in vanilla. Good breeding comes second to actually securing a heir now and many generations lose both parents and tutors during their upraising. Which means their stats suffer. Seems that most characters do reach the intended late 30's and mid 40's as intended though. I'm having a blast myself and will try a few more games to see if extra balancing is needed. Right now the virulence of some diseases worries me a little.

I've been testing it for a while, it's a good mod except you shouldn't have removed Invite a Nobleman. It's too much of a hassle to have to invite people for a specific task especially since their stats suck anyway.

Invite a Nobleman.

I didn't? Ah, too drunk atm. Will look at it this weekend. You mean the ambition decision, right?

EDIT: Looked it up coz I luv ya. Invite nobleman fired the create_steward thingie in vanilla. I just renamed it way back. Same decision only now it costs more and the name is more appropriate to what it does.

EDIT2: Good news. I think I figured out how to make events that destroy random buildings in sieges or as a random chance. Woot.

Well, I'm done flying, but Vaarna's link is now dead, so I guess I'll try a MM + BL game. Kind of scared about taking off CK+ though.

I started a game as the count of Viscaya. Now I'm the king of Navarra and Portugal. I'm halfway of conquering all the Iberic Peninsula from the muslims.

But now with the new 1.05e patch, my game crashes at an specific date. There has been a lot of similar reports on the Paradox forums, it seems that it has to do with the game autosaving when you have a succesion war (I have three, from my three brothers).

Now I have to wait until the next patch to continue smithing heathens. Sigh...

So, whenever I've tried to play CKII recently, I get a CTD immediately after launching the game, whether directly or from the launcher. I've tried reinstalling a few times, but that hasn't helped. Anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? Any advice would be appreciated, as this game is pretty awesome and I'd like to be able to play it.
Contact me if you find a solution. I have the exact same problem. Does it affect Sengoku and Vicky 2, too?

I didn't realize there was a CKII file in MyDocuments, under Paradox Interactive. I did a full uninstall, including deleting those files, and installed the game again. Working just fine now.

Currently working on uniting Ireland, only two counties left to bring under my control.

Doesn't work for me. Just found out that EU3 crashes as well. This is fucking fantastic. I finally get the PC that can actually handle those games running again and now I can't even get to the main menu. Why do you taunt me so, fate?

Poor Tortogul looks like that guy from the Goonies, but other than that these are absolutely incredible. I can't wait until these are finished. They should include these in the base game or something because they're amazing.

I've been playing the last couple of days with an edited in lord of my namesake, to where it was supposed to originate from - Galloway. The time-line is a bit ahead of itself, but what can you do? I actually tried a few times where I was eliminated due to an expansionist Scotland, so had to swear fealty early on to keep my head. I'm currently in control of Scotland and Ireland. I've also been able to win crusades almost single-handedly. Really had a lot of fun.

Next up I'm going to try my mother's maiden name, in France. Don't know how difficult that will end up being, but being a Paradox game, if I can gain control of France I can paint the whole map.

In my experience from house de Lusignian France is rather easy. You just need some initial luck with forging claims on one-two provinces and then its plotting and plotting to climb the feudal ladder. Gaining the crown is a big milestone but usually it doesnt make the game much easier initially - you still have previous vassals of the crown and they definitely are not content.

For me playing a king of a big kingdom is way more challenging than playing a king of a small one. I shudder at the thought of being an emperor.

In case anyone has the same problems as me: If you use a TV as monitor and hook it up via HDMI, Clausewitz Engine games will crash after loading. Using VGA instead remedies this. I wish this made sense.
On a brighter note: I can finally start playing CKII and EUIII and Sengoku and Victioria II and...:bounce:

Remember hearing about this before. Way back. Guess that's one Clausewitz hardware error Paradox never fixed.

I don't even understand how that could make a game crash. I'm just glad I read about it, because that's a solution that I would never have thought of.

Sigh.

Again with the CTD when you save waging war against rebelling vassals. I managed to workaround the previous CTD by starting a 4 year older save. The crash was gone. But suddenly my father, heir to England (and husband of my previous, female PC) became the king and when he died I inherited the Kingdom of England.

Cue to 3/4 of the english dukes plus allies revolting (succession crisis). It was (and still is) a long, tiresome and taxing war. My king started as a 16 year yound. Now he's 23 and the war is still going, I'm fighting against the last two rebellious dukes and count, with another one on the verge of revolting.

But as the was took so long, I had to save between gaming sessions, and now both the autosaving and the manual save crash the game. Now I will have to wait for the fucking patch.

By the way, is there something useful about duchies, besides the prestige? I'm having a fucking pain in the arse with my vassals, when I win/inherit those titles. They don't like me if I have more than two, and is one of the main causes of revolt. Before, when I was conquering Spain from the muslims, I always usurped the emirates/duchies. But now I just don't do it, because the huge disadvantage they entitle.

What would be the best course of action? I just give them to my family, but they usually revolt or plot, even a few seconds after I grant them. This is kinda hilarious because I have imprisoned like 10 or 15 family members and dukes that revolting.

The consensus seems to be on the CK2 forums that Duchy titles are best left unusurped/unused, depending on how you like to deal with vassals -- most people seem to prefer having a ton of relatively weak Counts rather than a handful of relatively powerful Dukes -- it also seems to be a given that you don't want to give Duchy titles to family that have claims on your titles, because that will inevitably lead to revolt, especially with the 1.5 changes making revolts much more likely to happen/cause a domino effect with your other vassals. If you have a lot of cousins with no claims that works decently apparently.

I only hand out Duke titles if the de jure Duchy includes provinces that I'd like to have in my Kingdom as that's easier than waiting for claims to pop up.

I create Kingdoms when I get the land from being the most successful part of a Crusade -- I'd rather install my brother as the King of Sicily or Jerusalem than have to deal with administrating that land myself. This may be because I like seeing my dynasty spread over Europe, if it isn't me specifically.
