unleash the larian fans
Anything Larian has made is a better RPG than this. They actually have proper status effects. Here we just have bleed and elecriticty which is just sparkly bleed. :dealwithit:

On 3570 it is literally impossible to get 60FPS in most places, no matter how low you set your settings, game is CPU bound just like Witcher 3 was.
Um, no? This is what I see on my PC while playing (hint: upper left corner):

Since when are classes a good game design? Plenty of table top RP games have no classes, yet you can always tell who does what and never have I seen somebody making useless character by going too general. Even D&D would be better off if it droped class system entirely, I mean it had multiclass bullshit ever since 2E at least. And when we are at it, get rid off leveling too, unless learning and self improvement is one of the core themes of your game. Traveller has no leveling, forge games have in general no leveling and those are perfectly serviceable and fun games.

So how is exploration? How many buildings you can enter?

There is absolute shitload of interiors, random shops pavilons etc. I am seriously impressed by this even more than i am with the city on outside. There are obviously offlimits parts and you can't go anywhere you want but it is seriously impressive just how many interiors they managed to get into game. The interaction wise it is not shenmue but it is cool that they made so many interiors with stuff in it. Moreover they are not copy paste, each is different with its own theme and shit.

My impression so far:

The RPG mechanics are completely fucked up. I don't even know why the bothered with stats. Call me naive for hoping that somebody would actually take a hint or two from Troika's VTMB, possibly the sole and only 'first person/action/shooting/RPG" done right.

The whole adventure is just 'follow the yellow icon around" while shooting the occasional target. They even added a nice dotted line for people who can't tell left from right. For the first few hours I did nothing but wandering around Night City and doing a bit of the main quest and, yet, I found my journal full of side quests, quests I did not even knew I had received!

Dialogue is boring, too long and most of the time pointless. Feels like the latest Metal Gears Games: a lot of blabber intermixed with some target shooting and sneaking around.

Conclusions: another developer took the path to decline. But hey, at least, with 8M of preorders alone, they'll be able to afford a lot of vodka and hookers! :decline:

Now that people actually have their hands on the game, I'm glancing over some harsh criticism. Makes me feel better about waiting on this because it sounds like it needs an enhanced edition or CDPR reflected on what TW3 did poorly, paused and said, "Nah, we're mostly good with what we've got".

-Myriad of technical problems (buggy, poorly optimized) everyone is familiar with by now. Though some have had virtually no technical issues.
-RPG elements are shallow. Perks are all bland, customization is minimal, cyberware is uncreative compared to Deus Ex, lifepath only opens up the occasional exclusive dialogue option, V has hardly any variety in dialogue options. A lot more linear than you might believe.
-Overwhelmed with lootershooter mechanics that encourage you to churn through gear every 15 minutes for minor incremental stat gains and crafting is extraordinarily rote (holy shit they didn't learn from TW3 at all).
-Controls are poor. Needs many QoL additions.
-World is essentially populated by mannequins. NPCs on the streets have the bare minimum reaction to your actions, or none at all when stealing right in front of them. Police chases are short-lived. One player hacked open a door that two NPCs were complaining about being locked, and they continued to argue as if nothing changed.

Maybe I'll play it just for the story in a few months, because the game sounds rough. I'm more disappointed by the claims it did nothing to improve as an RPG compared to TW3, because this was a fresh start for CDPR that offered a great opportunity to build something deeper, down to giving you a blank slate. Feels like my worst fears the game would juggle a lot of elements selected from what's popular, but poorly execute most of them, was realized. Then again some of you are playing it, so are the criticisms fair enough?

Does anyone know why Metacritic is blocking user reviews for this game with the message "please spend some time playing the game"?

Forgive me if it's already been posted or discussed. Couldn't find anything pertaining to it.

They implemented a waiting period before user reviews can be submitted for new games... I forgot the length.
It was done after The Last Of Us 2's not-so great reception by the fanbase.

Nothing but damage control.
Considering The Last Of Us 2 was review bombed 5 minutes after its release I can understand why they added this. But a better idea would be syncing the users' Metacritic accounts to their Steam/Psn/etc accounts. Would cut down all the review bombing.

I said in most places. There are closed environments where I was able to get 60, but something like in the apartment in the beginning or open street there's no way.

I really don't think an enhanced edition can fix this game's core RPG issues. Busted skill system, voice protag, no C&C... those things can't befixed.

Can't have that sweet dopamine drip if you don't see numbers going up, do you expect the devs to make a video game with depth where it's the player that gets better?
(I can take or leave the other stuff like classes)

It really is just a casual game with a dull progression system and a headache-inducing UI, but fairly well-presented stories and a nice sense of immersion, place, and character. But what did anyone expect? When have CDPR ever done anything different? You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

6 months from now this will be every casual's GOTY and Codexians with a low tolerance for popamole gameplay will still be bitching about it. And so the world turns ...

If you got some fun out of TW3, you'll get some fun out of this, and if you didn't you won't. End of story.

Your ignore list.
game is unplayable accroding to my german friend:

Als ich die Gullideckel in Cyberpunk gesehen habe ist mir direkt aufgefallen, dass diese mit Beton gefüllt sind. Außerhalb Deutschlands gibt es sowas kaum bis nicht. Bei näherer Betrachtung ist dann Eindeutig um was es sich dabei handelt: Schachtabdeckungen der Klasse B125, die nach DIN 4271 gebaut sind. Siehe Foto(Text verpixelt um Spoiler zu vermeiden): Foto

When I saw the manhole covers in Cyberpunk, I immediately noticed that they were filled with concrete. Outside of Germany there is hardly any such thing, if at all. On closer inspection it is then clear what it is: Manhole covers of class B125, which are built according to DIN 4271. See photo (text pixelated to avoid spoilers): photo

This oversight in development explains this glitch:

It's not really a shocker that nVidia's scaling algorithm would perform better than AMD's on a GeForce.
I had forgotten that you have DLSS. In my case AMD's thing is the only one available for my 1080ti.

This.

Seriously, some people in this thread are more clueless about what they are playing even than the gamejournos.

I'm enjoying this game, it's a fucking mess but it's actually kind of fun just dicking about in a bladerunner city.

Living a childhood dream.

Also, about to start again due to save file bugs, Nomad start this time.

Wandering the world randomly in search of maps
The skill system has more depth than I would have ever give CDPR credit for after TW3. Seems to be quite a few different valid build paths with diverse playstyles, although it depends on how easy or difficult it is to min/max.

Question: is there any real point to non-lethal takedowns? Game doesn't seem to care if you murder everyone. Also, how do you level the Cold Blood and Engineer skills?
