New update today. Now I'm actually interested in watching the employees reassure themselves that episodic was the "right" way to go. There isn't a dissenting voice anywhere in those videos. If there was one employee who ever voices what they think is a bad idea, the videos would seem more authentic, but as all the episodes have been so far they all seem like cult members.

It seems you missed the last update where they argued about the episodic release.

Topics in the new update:
- press and community backlash about the early access stuff
- some new scenes from the game - looking better and better
- big emphasis on sound and music - interesting stuff

After watching it, I'm assured that everything will be alright with the game. :smug:

Grab the Codex by the pussy Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong
The new clips from the game (in the documentary) and voice-over samples, really seemed to confirm the weird children's/Superbrothers tone of the game.

And here's an entire Kotaku interview of Tim & Greg complaining about info leaking / people not being indoctrinated.

Schafer: "What the backers want is purely a great game... They're purely interested and happy to make this great creative thing come into the world. And publishers are purely interested in the bottom line and risk mitigation."

I never knew what I wanted until Tim told me.

This game reminds me very much of the books he writes, which are printed on indestructible soft plastic so kids cannot eat or chew their books. I think this game may need to be made of the same material.
Edgy, I wonder what edgy-Codex would have said if the Internet was around at the time, seeing a few pictures of respective LucasArts games taken out of any narrative or story context and not yet having played any of them back in the day:

It's not like story, dialogue and gameplay make a game, of which very few people have seen much of in regards to this (and would rather talk out of their ass).
If you read this post without having 4-5 different tunes pop into your head, you are a dirty, stinking newfag.

You don't want a great game? I mean, you probably don't want this to be a great game so you can be :smug: about it. But I'm not really seeing any error in what he is saying there.

Nah. I stopped caring about the game a while ago. Now I'm only checking it for the lulz.

They're pretty obviously working hard on this. They're a little incompetent on the management front, but artistically I have no doubt it'll be beautiful, and the team has real soul.

Edit: Also, I loved how he focused on African themes for the scenes with the black girl. I don't even think this is problematic -- it sounds great and fits my prejudices just as well as his. I love it.

In the last episode the Greg the producer guy clearly didn't want the game to be split and was obviously pissed off at Tim for his poor management.

The game is looking good from the new episode, though Tim still doesn't realize why people are pissed with them pissing away almost $3 million.

Say what you will about the art direction and money mismanagement... but man, I really enjoy watching those documentary episodes. Those are very well done and (seem to) give insight into the game making process.

Yeah, I especially liked watching Peter McConnell work. I've always enjoyed his soundtracks.
I wasn't familiar with his name, but I just checked out his work, and damn, he made the music for some of my favourite games.

Black sucks, Jesus Christ. He worked in BL because he was playing himself, but unless he works for free this is just another fuck up.

Soundbytes used in the voice acting video didn't seem the least bit funny, just childish. I'm not getting a Lucasarts adventure game vibe from this at all so far. Also Jack fucking Black? how much did that cost them...
