One thing that you guys must remember is that DF are a developer with existing publisher deals.

Part of those publisher deals includes marketing budgets for things like an E3 booth. If DF had an E3 booth, its paid for by the publisher budgets, and not DF directly. They cant funnel that publisher money into Broken Age. Look at what happened to Colonial Marines to see what a legal clusterfuck that causes.
Do you really think that a publishers will give them all that money to got to E3 when all they have to show is a new, publisher-free game?

If it was a stand that was JUST about DFA, then no-but there are other games that Double Fine are working on. Wasn't The Cave part of the line-up around E3?

Broken Age: People have waited less time for a Kidney Transplant!

I'm guessing that'll be a tagline.

Well, at least on a kidney transplant you get the whole thing instead of half of it and a vague promise of getting the other half later.

You know what, that's pretty fucking funny! Haha... (I've HAD a kidney transplant, so I could only imagine what it would be like if I got that kind of offer!)

When I heard about your transplant a time ago, I really got worried because kidney disease is a difficult thing and a transplant is even more difficult to get, I don't know how it is on your country but on mine people die waiting. So, good Sir prove to Mr. Tim Schaefer that you don't need golden toilets and 500 hipster friends to make a good adventure game.

Man, thanks a lot. That's very cool of you to say. People die waiting in my country too - I happened to be very lucky. Yesterday was my two year anniversary.

You know, I really just laugh more at this whole Broken Game situation. I'm sure it'll get released someday, but it doesn't change the fact that it'd development has been a massive debacle on a scale comparable to the Mariana Trench.

The development time for this is actually not long at all.

From the forums:

by the time this game ships, it will still be a fairly short development cycle. We’ll start shipping this game before two years have passed from the beginning of pre-production; that’s very much an unremarkable length of time to spend making a modern game.
There hasn’t really been a “delay,” since we never announced a real date after the original scope increase. It just seems that way because everyone knew about this game before it even started going into pre-production; usually games are revealed much closer to their release date so it seems like they come out fairly quickly.

Tim Schäfer said:
Even though we received much more money from our Kickstarter than we, or anybody anticipated, that didn’t stop me from getting excited and designing a game so big that it would need even more money,

"Woops, we ran out of your money guise."

Schäfer should be on his knees apologizing for leading the charge and failing to deliver. I'm glad this is one of the few projects I didn't back.

Frankly I don't give a fuck if they're losing money. I'm not losing money, I'm still getting the game with 15$. Nor do I care if Kickstarter loses face, which it doesn't really, since what really matters is the final product and there are many other major KS projects anyway.

What I do care is that they're going to release the game in two parts, since I hate episodic format, and I do care if the final product is delayed, which it is. Ok, it's not delayed by much, but the way things are going it could be delayed even more.

Obviously what really matters in the end is the quality of the product, but this isn't the time nor the place to discuss such things.

You should, if you want more games like these. The recent influx of games targeted at us only continues if the flagships are succesful.

Even if Broken Age fails, the influx won't stop if the other projects turn out allright. While Double Fine was the one which made Kickstarter into a big thing (meaning they started the big projects), it can't break Kickstarter. One project is not capable of that.

I don't know man, I don't think many people are going to trust a console/gaming hardware kickstarter after Ouya. At least not on that huge of a level. So that may happen with video games as well.

No, there was one console KS, and it failed, and you are right, there won't be another successfull one. But there are many videogame KS projects. Some of the are released and are good games (FTL, Conquistador). Some of them are in the making and looking to be really good. Torment, PE, D:OS, W2. So one failed one won't destroy KS. Maybe people will be a bit vary about it, but that's all.

Codex Year of the Donut Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
A more likely outcome is that adventure game Kickstarters will die off, but RPG Kickstarters will live on. But I'm not sure if even that will happen.

How about you tards wait and judge that when the game is out? (which will certainly be before P:E and might even be before Wasteland 2) :P
