:(

Ok.

But I'll just bring this bottle of "special" lemon juice with me to refresh myself between drives. Noone else is to drink from it, 'k?

Men. In ten minutes, we'll be starting the match.
I wanted to give a grand speech about what's to be done and what to accomplish - yet the words fail me as I sip into a can of ginger beer.
All I gotta say... is...

Let's do this.

The Coldest Hell

01.jpg

Hi and welcome to our long-awaited match for the third match of the season. Knights on 4th place, while Infernos are just outside on the 5th place, needing a win to hop over to qualification. Pretty crucial match this, let's see what both sides have in store for us!

02.jpg

Looks like the Knights win the coin toss. They took the kick!

03.jpg

Here we gooo~!

04.jpg

Oh my! What a sudden change of weather!

05.jpg

Will this stop Xeno's passing game?! stabby looks unsure with his runs... this could get dangerous for both sides.

06.jpg

The Bloodletter, wasting no time to maul Ulminati. Stunning him!

07.jpg

Brother None gets taken down as well.

08.jpg

Turn over as they secure the ball successfully.

09.jpg

Whitewolf, taking down the Bloodletter, but no damage!

10.jpg

Gondolin !

11.jpg

Injures his man! Looks like a serious concussion!

12.jpg

But the demon gets back up! Wow! That would've been crucial!

13.jpg

Xenomorph with a blitz this time!

14.jpg

Scores a knockdown, but no damage!

16.jpg

Knights flooding the ball, eager to get it.

17.jpg

Finishing touches as Angelo and LundB gets in position before end of turn.

18.jpg

Oh man, every turn the Bloodletter blitzes! Who's gonna be the victim this time?!

19.jpg

Whitewolf is down! But no injury!

20.jpg

More pushes as Infernos try to break out.

22.jpg

LundB gets downed.

24.jpg

Ulminati recovers from his stun... so far, no Bone-head for this lonely Juggernaut.

25.jpg

Angelo, going to blitz for the ball here... let's see!

26.jpg

Nope, changes his mind and lets Jaedar have the honor!

27.jpg

Dodge out was good and he knocks his target out!

28.jpg

Loose ball! Xenomorph tearing at his marker!

29.jpg

eklektyk pushing back his target towards the ball!

30.jpg

The demon fails the pick up and the ball bounces into Angelo's hands!

31.jpg

stabby to reconfigure his position!

32.jpg

Oh wow, failed that dodge. He's not hurt, but his ego will take a beating. Turnover!

33.jpg

The usual Claw spam, this time on Ulminati!

34.jpg

oh god. Is he?!

35.jpg

He's DEAD!

36.jpg

Ulminati is dead! The Knights' Coach in disbelief!

rk.jpg
.........................................................................................................................................................................................

He storms into the pitch, slapping the dead body over and over again. Pouring some kind of yellow liquid into the fallen giant's face, to no avail. It's really dead. The Knights have lost their Strongman! Is this the turning point?!

Odd, not too long ago I remember someone saying the exact opposite:
A Certain Catcher said:
So, the chat we had about you considering two extra catchers instead of the ogre? Glad you didn't go with that plan. :bro:

Also, speaking from experience as I do coach some Amazons on the side, I'm not sure that more squishies over an ogre is such a good plan.

I'm just being callous. I expected to go first, not least because of having AV 7, but also indeed because of being the most catchy of all catchers in the league so far...

Run in the Cold

01.jpg

More misery as the Infernos take down Angelo, the Knights ball carrier.

02.jpg

Ball bounces and stops right next to the Bloodletter. Who's gonna pick that one up?

03.jpg

LundB, still the ever-green rookie lino of the season. With 0 SPP, 0 injuries, taking hits like a soldier. Turn over.

04.jpg

Gondolin with a counter attack. Takes down his man. Pushing him to the ball.

05.jpg

The Bounce is good! Takes the ball away from the hotspot and next to a cultist fighter.

06.jpg

Xenomorph stuns a target to free eklektyk - who repositions to provide guard assists for Whitewolf.

07.jpg

First one is a push~ which is good enough to clear the ball zone for the pick up.

08.jpg

Second one is a knockdown! But no injury!

09.jpg

Jaedar gets back to add more safety for the ball pick up. It's still early in the half, but Knights really want to score to make up for the loss of the Ogre.

10.jpg

Brother None obliges! Gets the ball, where to go?!

11.jpg

12.jpg

Anywhere but here, I guess. Looks like Knights are sure to score now. Turn over.

13.jpg

Here comes the Bloodthirster...

14.jpg

Claw, taking a chunk off Angelo's armor, but still alive!

15.jpg

Hellraiser gets blitzed. They really want the ball back!

16.jpg

LundB, stops the play by tackling his man before he can complete the dodge out!

17.jpg

Brother None, free of the danger zone! Now his teammates will have to buy him time! Are they going to delay? The Knights' coach looking VERY worried for his boys now with that Claw Thirster on the field.

18.jpg

19.jpg

Xenomorph slows the demon down. Stunning his target.

20.jpg

stabby, dodging out to get further up the field.

21.jpg

Everything is looking great for a first half touch down for the Knights.

22.jpg

Oh boy.

23.jpg

Xenomorph is down~ But not out! Knights coach, breathing a sigh of relief.

24.jpg

That death really shook him up.

25.jpg

His heart seems to skip a beat when Whitewolf is taken down in the midfield skirmish. He's unharmed though.

26.jpg

stabby defies fear and will attempt to slow down the Bloodthirster...

27.jpg

Turnover.

29.jpg

Xenomorph... not getting up from the Bloodthirster challenge.. interesting.

30.jpg

stabby's down!

31.jpg

Mother of god. That little catcher never stood a chance, crumpling into the snow like an over-sized labia torn away from the pussy itself.

32.jpg

Knights already used up their apothecary. All they can do is pray. Looks like it's a pinched nerve, he'll miss the next game.

33.jpg

That means the knights can't afford to delay any longer. TOUCHDOWN IT IS! 1-0! But they're not out of the danger yet!

Running from Victory
01.jpg

03.jpg

Knights up, 1-0 but still very much in a precarious situation. With 2 players out of the game, every drive is just going to start with just 10 men. No more apoths..it's high stakes from now on with the Bloodthirster on the loor.

02.jpg

Infernos, on the meantime, only has 2 KOs... and no injuries.

04.jpg

Stopping the Infernos offense on this first half drive is crucial if they want to take away a victory from this game.

05.jpg

Kick!

06.jpg

Quick snap by the Infernos! Their catcher gets within a step of the ball - gets it safely on the first try. The offense is on.

07.jpg

Moar claw. Hellraiser survived.

08.jpg

The whole line collapsed.

09.jpg

Blitz incoming.

10.jpg

BN taken down.

11.jpg

A handover!

12.jpg

A last, desperate attempt to run the ball into the end zone!

13.jpg

Angelo won't let that happen... marks his man...

14.jpg

Whitewolf!

15.jpg

Takes the ball down! It's safe!

16.jpg

Things are looking slightly better for the knights, but one can argue they rather restart the game at 0-0 with full roster at this point. Arguable, but yeah.

17.jpg

Gondolin KO's one.

18.jpg

Xeno to make that hopeful pick up.

19.jpg

It's good. It's safe. This half goes to the Knights...

20.jpg

Wha-

21.jpg

Angelo with the back catch. EXTRA safe now.

22.jpg

23.jpg

The raging demons slams another knights down, but thankfully, nobody gets hurt...

25.jpg

27.jpg

And the half goes to the Knights 1-0. A mix of emotions right now on the Knights bench as they prepare to receive on the second half...

There I am, still no level ups, but continuing to tackle opponents and take hits without a single injury. A true linesman if I ever saw one.

Fear
01.jpg

And we're back for the second half. It's cold out here... and it doesn't look like the blizzard is going to end soon.

02.jpg

All the KO'ed deamons are ready to get back in the game.

03.jpg

While the Knights will have to play on without their two players.

04.jpg

There's a sense of cold dread in the air as the players set themselves up for the kick...

05.jpg

06.jpg

07.jpg

Having to start with just 10 men, the Knights will have to contend with just one catcher. Can they really pull off a passing game in this cold war?

08.jpg

Oh, looks like they're going for a cage.

09.jpg

Gondolin, ekletyk and Angelo going to do some attack diversion on the mean time.

10.jpg

A good stunning blitz.

11.jpg

Xeno can't reach the ball, Azira fucks it up, spends a reroll...

12.jpg

And spills it again. Turn over!

13.jpg

The Bloodthirster is still raging. Pushing Gondolin all the way back.

14.jpg

eklektyk gets knocked out!

15.jpg

More push on Gondolin. His drive is really heading nowhere. Turnover.

16.jpg

Looks like Whitewolf to blitz.

17.jpg

Scores an injury! Things are picking up for the Knights.

18.jpg

Azira gets the ball finally and dashes to cover.

19.jpg

Gondolin, knowing the real danger of being crowd push, risks a bad dodge.

21.jpg

Did not make it. Turn over.

22.jpg

Angelo is brought down.

23.jpg

Here comes the beast.

24.jpg

25.jpg

Whitewolf gets clawed, concern showing from the knight's bench but no injury!

26.jpg

It looks like Jaedar might reposition to secure the cage...

27.jpg

DISASTER!

28.jpg

29.jpg

XENOMORPH IS STUNNED!

30.jpg

DEMON WASTING NO TIME TO BLITZ THE BALL! AZIRA CAN'T HOLD!

31.jpg

THE BALL IS LOOSE!

32.jpg

Hellraiser gets pushed away!

33.jpg

They've got the ball, WHAT A DISASTER. Turnover! DISGUST WRITTEN ALL OVER THE KNIGHTS' COACH'S FACE!

34.jpg

They can still turn this around...

35.jpg

Hellraiser, pushing in to the ball range...

36.jpg

A rather risky, yet given their option, there's not much else to do...

37.jpg

Makes it!

38.jpg

Craps on the second... reroll!

39.jpg

Makes it through! AND....

40.jpg

41.jpg

Gets a red skull for his trouble. Turn over!

42.jpg

Hellraiser stunned! This is probably going to seal it!

43.jpg

What else can the knights do to stop the ball?!

44.jpg

Angelo gets pushed out onto the crowd...

45.jpg

But no injury as the crowd stomps him...

46.jpg

LundB gets knocked down, but uninjured.

47.jpg

There's fear written all over the knight's face. Brother None could've made that final step for tackle assist...but nope. He's not risking it, the snowy plains are slippery...

48.jpg

Jaedar will have to redeem himself ...

49.jpg

And FAILS to get the crucial block in! Terrible performance by the Blitzer so far. That clinches it...

51.jpg

It's 1-1!

52.jpg

Knights with 2 man down will have to re-try the final drive with no rerolls left... the coach look totally shell-shocked!

Is the glass half full?

Desperation written in their faces. Knights made to pay for that slip. They still have a chance at taking a win out of this, but perhaps with a little bit more conservative play - the tying touchdown could've been prevented.

01.jpg

This is a very OBVIOUS setup. Only 2 turns left to play. All chips on the table.

02.jpg

03.jpg

IT'S HIGH!

04.jpg

Xeno can't capitalize, but he gets close to the ball.

05.jpg

Right flank is free. Knights going in!

06.jpg

Hellraiser to cover the ball.

07.jpg

Whitewolf!

08.jpg

Only gets a double push!

09.jpg

Xenomorph gets the ball on the first try.

10.jpg

Wants to add speed to the ball - tosses it to Azira.

11.jpg

Gets it. Where's it gonna go?

12.jpg

Audacious hand-off...

13.jpg

Fucks it up!

14.jpg

15.jpg

LundB, soldiering on!

16.jpg

Whitewolf surviving yet another murder attempt.

17.jpg

In comes the Bloodthirster!

18.jpg

Azira gets taken down. Turnover as drama sets in.

19.jpg

Jaedar going for the ball ...

20.jpg

Ends his match with a fumbled pick up that goes out of bounds, accompanied by the booing of the crowd. Today's gotta be the worst performance in his career. That failed dodge was crucial in setting up the Infernos touchdown and now this... Despair sets in as the ball flies back into the field...

21.jpg

22.jpg

23.jpg

Infernos in no position to score... but there's a slight chance if they can make a pass...

24.jpg

The Bloodthirster succumbs to its animal instincts and refuses to move, much to the relief of the exhausted knights...

25.jpg

More misery as eklektyk is badly hurt.

26.jpg

And the infernos failed a pick up! Turnover. Last chance saloon!

27.jpg

Jaedar's last chance...

29.jpg

Did not fuck it up this time. Now, can Hellraiser execute the final play? Asking too much from a lino... but still...

30.jpg

NO! HE FAILED THE PICK UP! IT'S OVER! 1-1!

31.jpg

A DRAW between the two! A moral sapping draw to the knights as the coach slumps on his chair. To him, it looked more like a defeat.

32.jpg

Lots of drama in this match, plenty of action and blood. A dead ogre, and two injuries. Plus two decisive touchdowns.

33.jpg

More bad news as the MVP is given to the injured stabby who will miss the next game. It appears the Knights will have the toughest game yet on match day 4....

But let's move on to the post-match conference...

Q: You looked very disappointed with the draw. Why is that?
A: We gave it away. After losing Ulminati and stabby, we were hardly in any shape to score a 2nd touchdown. The manner we let that trying touch down in...was unacceptable. A dagger in my heart. I can still see it replaying over and over in my head. It'll eat me up in my sleep. It wasn't a draw for us. We defeated ourselves out there. Now we've a hole both literally and figuratively in the team.

Q: Wow. Speaking of holes - any replacement for stabby and Ulminati for the next game?
A: I haven't looked at the funds. But yes, a game against 1500TV Orcs is always going to be rough, I'm looking at my options now. We need a rebound ASAP before the decline sets in.

Q: Speaking of decline, with this result, you're still in 4th place, 1 point away from Purple Infernos at 5th. And one point behind from 3rd. Any comments on this?
A: Let's not get ahead of ourselves. A win today would've put ourselves in easy qualification - but with this draw, things are.. uncertain. I'll have to double check on the schedule and make sure we're not dropping the easy points and earn the hard ones.

Q: Any final comments on this match?
A: I blew it. It's gonna haunt me. I need a few days to sleep it off. Losing an Ogre early is always going to be hard. But dropping those two points is even more painful. It'll be a while till I shake it off.

And that's all we have for Match Day 3 stay tuned for the next week's showdown between Knights of Codexia (4th) vs Vast Mountain Raiders! (7th)
