So from his perspective, Bioware was being innovative and pushing the envelope with DA 2.

Ok. Let's think about this for a while. Let's work under the asumption that he genuinely beleives this. Exactly what world do they live in where games like DA 2 are genuinely considered innovative and pushing the envelope?

It's easier to think that he's just lying through his teeth, and was just doing typical PR statement.

But what if he really does beleive in what he said? This is the the puzzling thing and the more interesting question to think about.

They're flipflopping their defense constantly depending on whether or not they have something to sell us. After all, it was when they started advertising Legacy that Laidlaw decided that the "evil 4chan guys" were correct. But guys, Legacy is going to be awesome so buy it. He's since gone back to the "innovative diamond in the rough" defense.

Also: speaking of innovative diamond in the rough? Alpha Protocol. Fuck yeah.

Manatee's point is a good one: how relevant is what the Drs say? The CEO of a car manufacturer likely doesn't know about air/fuel mixing. This guy knows less about game development than your typical fanboy.

The irony. It amuses me. Why are these interviews even necessary if what he is saying is true.

Also I think Konjad's comments about this game are all one massive troll. They have to be. They just have to.

cleverly enough konjad has successfully cultivated a persona that makes it hard to tell whether he is being serious about liking dragon age 2 or not

So... how many of you actually want to play it?

As for myself I will definitely not buy nor play it. After the demo I'm sure this is one of the worst cRPGs ever. Hell, perhaps even worse than Oblivion, though still incomparable to ArcaniA.

First of all the combat is just plainly boring. I knew it won't be anything that requires thinking but this one is even more boring than in DAO. Dialogues are horrible. Worse than in DAO. Music is shit, graphic is just laughable. There is no singe pro of that game. It's just shit. Good thing they put up a demo because now I know to not bother with DA2. I mean DAO was semi-good. It had filler combat, it had overdone violence, it had many other drawbacks... but at least dialogues were okay and there were some choices with some consequences from time to time. The game was rather good until Deep Roads. But DA2? Now, THIS IS SHIT.

Good thing I have 1 GB memory in my GPU and it supports DX 11.

Good thing I'm not going to play DA2 anyway.

I don't even know why the fuck did I open this thread. Eh, bad habit reading everything in RPGD.

On topic:
I don't give a shit. I want The Witcher 2/Risen 2/DE3/EB3/AoD... hell, I might also play Skyrim, though I doubt it. But this turd? Hell, no!

And my personal favorite (from the same thread):
Konjad said:
I find it ironic that the 'dex says DA2 is shit beyond salvation even with mods, unworthy of anything and yet so many of the members will play it...

Can we add anyone who ever plays DA2 custom tag "Biowhore"?

In mid March he changes his mind and starts calling DA2 the best game evar.

And when they announce DA3 they'll settle on "Ok guys we know Dragon Age 2 sucked BUT WE'RE FIXING ALL OF THAT YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL YOU FUCKING PEASANTS"

Bioware wants you to know that they are taking your complaints into consideration and, in DA3, the boots will also explode along with the enemies.

It's fucking terrible, and the arrogance of Bioware on display here pisses me off.

It's not an RPG it's not even a game. In fact, It's a bullshit interactive gay porn/movie experience.

Even setting it on nightmare difficulty the fucking thing just plays itself with the help of the (A)wesome button.

If I want to play an action game I'll go load up one worth a damn, not this crap that's a bastard and watered down love child between RPg's and Action games and which fails horrible at both.

I'm pissed to the point I cant even string sentences together..

Fuck you bioware, fuck you....

At least he hasn't praised Origins as a hardcore RPG classic. Yet.

I think there was actually a tremendous number of people that came into the franchise and were delighted. So there were many people who critically thought it was wonderful, and actually a lot of old fans did as well.
Read: Some morons were taken in by the "gay elf buttfuck ass explosion gore sex dark gritty epic hawke" advertising and some fans are so brainwashed and have so bad tastes that they still liked Daatoo. Hell, even Volly had a short phase in which you could hear some criticism.
There’s no doubt that there was a polarization though. Maybe some of that can be attributed to some of the fans of Dragon Age: Origins who were maybe expecting a similar experience.
Morons. It's called DA2, clearly no indication that it'll be anything like DA1. Haven't people learned from FO3 and DS3? Why does sarcasm not translate well to writing?
But we actually innovated, we took a lot of risk, we were pushing the envelope on how we told the story, the gameplay, the action moments, the graphics - a lot of things were changed. And, actually, I really believe it was the right direction," Muzyka began.
Read: We still don't know the difference between "change" and "innovation" but we so like our newspeak. We tried to cater to the lowest common denominator with more action, cinemating and gay emotional buttfuck thus taking as little risk as possible. We did the story a little differently from our previous games so by ignoring all the other games that told a story that way we could claim to be doing something new. We didn't do it very well either. I still can't believe customers aren't quite as stupid as I think. If our new "direction" failed once we simply have to continue with it. The fly never gives up trying to get through the window either. Must fly on :salute:
We also recognize that feedback from core fans is incredibly important, so we take that to heart. We’re listening to it. We’re commercially successful, so we actually drew a lot of new fans in, exceeded our expectations, and what we want to do in the future is make sure we integrate that feedback from our core fans, so they come along with us for the journey, as we continue to build up the Dragon Age franchise and make the next ones even bigger and better so that all of our fans are delighted and surprised.
Read: Somehow the sales are not what we imagined. We have no idea why. Oh, looks like our old fans don't like it all that much and the morons falling for the advertisements can't make up for lost sales. Better promise them anything they might want. Never realized we're nothing without our fans.
We think we can do that. We can actually take the best of breed features from the original game in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II and put them together; and some of the changes we made in Dragon Age II, we were proud of the team.
Read: We'll keep the gay elf buttfuck ass explosion gore sex dark gritty epic moron dialogue wheel recycled environments and assets and add more cinematic emotion and remove one wave of reinforcements out of nothing per encounter. That should satisfy everybody. We were so proud when they managed to re-use the same cave 40 times. They saved us so much money.
We think they were the right changes. We wanted the team to push in that direction, but we also want to integrate feedback from our core fans because they’re really important to us. So I think there’s a nice balance that can be struck to achieve that," he added.
Read: And now, after we've mollified those moron "fans" we can let some truth seep in. We'll continue as if nothing happened but your money is really important to us.

Perhaps the codex forms my perceptions too strongly, but I really have the feeling that Bio are entering a time of trouble. TOR will likely bomb (and that alone may kill them), DA3 will end up like DA2 and thus underperform (especially since it'll be lacking much of the goodwill that may have carried DA2 along). ME seems to be the only strong point they have left. Don't know if that'll be enough. If they do go under that'll probably be taken as "RPGs just don't sell". Hilarious.

Well in such a case I won't be shedding a tear for these types of 'RPG's', even if I do enjoy them as throwaway action adventures.

Serious, i don't know why it bothers me less in BG, probably because it looks like a cartoon already. In their pathetic "gritty" setting?

Goddamn GRRM anyway.

I heard they built a bridge inside the Bioware facility just so his office could be under it.

The fact that they are even defending that stinking pile of shit only means they intend to do same shit all over again.

"Why are we even hearing what he has to say? As far as I can tell he hasn't taken part in the development of a single game in all of Bioware's history"

You are an idiot. the docs *are* BIO. they have final say in everything (at leastb until EA came in but theyb still have lots of power and control).

According to Knowles, the doctors only give "very broad brush" instructions, and then the department heads scurry around trying to interpret them. The doctors are not micro managers who do the rounds 20 times a day visiting each cubicle to check how the code is coming along. So, yeah, Ray would probably not have a clue about how to actually make a game fun. His world is ROI's and market segments and project finance etc.
